Rating: Summary: A DELICIOUS NOVEL OF SEXUAL DEPRAVITY AND REVENGE!!! Review: Larry Brooks has written another masterful, erotic, psychological thriller that equals, if not surpasses, his first novel, DARKNESS BOUND. This book will give new meaning to the word "relationships" and how even the darkest of them need a little love thrown in now and again. In the newest of what Mr. Brooks jokingly refers to as "relationship thrillers," SERPENT'S DANCE begins its dark tale of woe by introducing Bernadette Kane, a beautiful, strong-willed woman who's determined to get retribution against the man who caused her sister to commit adultery and then suicide. There isn't much that Bernie knows about this secretive individual other than that his first name is Wesley, he's rich and has a personal jet plane, and that he lives somewhere around Phoenix, Arizona. With the help of her close friend, Eric Killen, it proves to be enough to get her headed in the right direction. It isn't long before she finds herself not only living in Scottsdale, Arizona, but also working for the man (Wesley Edwards) whom she thinks caused her sister's tragedy. Worming her way into the good graces of Wesley and winning his trust proves to be a challenge because he's in the middle of an illegal deal that could earn him and his company millions of dollars. Bernie, however, is a very persistent lady who knows how to manipulate the sexual buttons on men with her beauty and intellect. She'll seduce Wesley one way or another, and then extract her revenge on him. What Bernie's totally unaware of is the large number of subplots spinning around her. More is going on underneath the surface than even she can imagine. One of the plots involves a couple who call themselves Diana and Damien-both of whom are into some serious kinky sex and are now upping the stakes to include murder. Damien has his eyes on Bernie and wants to bring her into the love triangle, seeing how close he can get to the raging fire without being burned. Bernie will soon have her hands full with the hottest sex of a lifetime, double-crosses and triple-crosses, and just trying to stay alive long enough to find out what really happened to her sister. I have to admit that SERPENT'S DANCE stimulated my libido with the kinky exploits of Diana and Damien. I got so caught up in what they were doing that I neglected to pay attention to what was going on in the rest of the novel and was therefore stunned by an unexpected turn of events. I don't want to give too much away, but I will tell you to prepare yourself for the unexpected during the final hundred pages. Nothing will turn out as it seems, and there will be a load of surprises that appear to come from out of nowhere until everything is explained. With regards to the characters in the novel, Diana and Damien steal the show from everyone else. These two people are the epitome of darkness, sexual depravity, and death. This isn't to take away from the other solid characterizations in the book. It's just that Diana and Damien were more fun and interesting to hang around with, filling me with curiosity and a desire to learn more about them. Though things didn't quite workout the way I expected, Larry Brooks still turned out a superb thriller that's utterly suspenseful, erotic in the darkest sense of the word, and shocking to the core. Mr. Brooks has created a genre of his very own with absolutely no competition from other authors. Read SERPENT'S DANCE first, then pick up copies of DARKNESS BOUND and PRESSURE POINTS, and see if I'm not right. This author definitely knows how to turn up the temperature!
Rating: Summary: A darkly erotic psychological thriller Review: Lets just start by saying I read this 451 page novel in less than 36 hours it was so intriguing. Quite a feat for me, if it wasn't good I would have lost interest at 225 and put it down, but it was was an exciting, erotic read full of debauchery, death, and hope. The book opens to a prologue introducing Bernedette Kane and her friend Eric Killen who are protecting her sister Peggy's honor in school. Years latter Peggy committs suicide over an extra marital affair but something doesn't feel right for Bernedette. Bernedette decides to find out if her sister was murdered or psychologically wounded to the point of suicide. Whatever it was she is on mission to find out. She goes on the only clue she has , her sister told her is first name and said he had a corporate jet. She gets Eric to track down the plane and the name an comes up with a CEO of Oar Research named Wesley Edwards. Upon talking her way into a job at Oar she discovers Wesley doesn't seem to be what she originally thought but is still determined to find the truth but discovers something all together different......... The book has several characters that are very interesting. Diana and Damien are the source of all the sexual debauchery and depravity. Their antics were cruel, dangerous, and involved many innocent people. They also were extremely exciting to read. Their anitcs also gave a look at S&M gone completely off kilter. They cared only for their own sexual release. Over all the book demonstrates through many twists and turns that all relationships need some degree of love and hope to sustain and last. And I certainly felt an underlining tone of faith. This is a fast paced book with lots of action, sex, death, and hope. You will be guessing all the way through it. I did.

Rating: Summary: Ab original and nmesmerizing supense thriller Review: Sisters Bernie and Peggy Kane remain very close in spite of distance and that Peggy married a loser. Thus, when Peggy's father-in-law calls to inform Bernie that her younger sister committed suicide she cannot believe it, Bernie knows that her sibling seemed happy with an upcoming divorce and an affair with computer CEO Wesley and his airplane. When the police decide it is suicide due to a broken love affair as the cause of death, Bernie asks childhood friend Eric Killen to help her learn why Peggy jumped from the hotel window. Eric obtains information on Peggy's lover Wesley Edwards of Oar Research in Scottsdale, Arizona that enables Bernie to gains work as a contractor for the firm. She begins a sexual game of cat and mouse with Wesley. Initially thinking that she is the predator seeking vengeance, Bernie soon realizes she is the rodent caught in a deadly trap in which survival is all she can hope to achieve. Few writers of passionate suspense thrillers can provide the complexities of plot that Larry Brooks achieves. SERPENT'S DANCE is an exciting tale of seductive vengeance that quickly turns into a deadlier affair. Bernie is a great heroine, but do not let her spot your weights for you while Wesley is an enigmatic charismatic opponent, not aware that he is the enemy. The support cast enables the audience to understand Bernie's demons and propels the story line forward. Most intriguing is the Sacramento chapters that at first seem as if they provide only shock value and are out of place, but ultimately contribute the full scope to an invigorating dark tale. Rating: Summary: Great Book (One Spoiler) Review: The book is highly entertaining. Brooks always pulls that off. Though, its a little different from his other two novels. In this book he had an extreme amount of sex. I know the point is revolving mainly around sex, but I think he kind of crossed the line with it. The plot was a little messy, it got too twisted for its own good. I thought that Diana and Bernadette would have a confrontation... My favorite character was Wesley, by far. What an arrogant...Brooks created. The best parts in the book were with him. He had the most character out of all of them. Even though I thought Diana was annoying... , she had alot of character. Brooks probably put alot of thought into her. I highly disliked Diana and Damien's sexual banter. It reminded me of some gothic novel. Anyone who read this book must have noticed the frequent name dropping of movies, actresses, actors, companies, food chains, sports......everything. Brooks was dropping names left and right. Everytime I came across this I cringed. I think that was a big mistake. What I really think is that Larry Brooks should be a screenwriter. His books would make excellent movies. I dont believe that this book lived up to Darkness Bound and Pressure Points. Now those were books.Dont get me wrong, Serpent's Dance is definetly a good read. Dont pass it up.
Rating: Summary: Masterful and suspenseful erotic thriller! Review: The synopsis of Serpent's Dance -- Larry Brook's third thriller -- sort of reminded me of Topping from Below. However, this novel has a brand of suspense and terror all its own. Bernadette Kane couldn't come to terms with her sister's death. She doesn't believe that her sister committed suicide, and she's convinced that Wesley Edwards is somehow responsible for what happened. Her plan is to get to the bottom of things, even if it involves playing Wesley's games of domination and submission. But she hadn't envisaged that her investigation would lead to further surprises... I am duly impressed with this novel. Brooks's take on the psychological implications of S&M games is as insightful as it is disturbing. As previously mentioned, this novel reminds me of Laura Reese's Topping from Below, but this novel isn't the aforementioned thriller's copycat. The suspense and building of tension kept me turning the pages. Serpent's Dance is even better than Darkness Bound -- Larry Brooks's first novel. I couldn't recommend this book enough...
Rating: Summary: Started out great and then........ Review: The very first scene - BAM - you start riding on the roller coaster called "Serpent's Dance". A story by no means meant for the conservative crowd. This book started out really, really great but ended less than stellar for me but still, a better than average book. Definitely a thriller that presents gripping plot twists with interesting characters. I won't bother summarizing the plot because I don't want to give too much away and even though you finally figure out who the bad guys are (who they may be anyway) - the rest of the story isn't too predictable. I liked that. A lot. Without a doubt I will be reading other books by this author. However, the ending to this one could have used a lot more editing. For one instance, when Charlotte (kick a** heroine) and best buddy are going to confront the bad guy - he says going it alone might not be such a good idea given the stuff that's happened so far - Charlotte agrees and says hey, won't it be great to see their faces when all the cop cars with their flashing lights show up? The scene that follows goes against all logic internal (logic given by the author) and external (the reader's own logic). The plot was tight and smartly written until the end where it unravels quite a bit; but still, a very good thriller!
Rating: Summary: An escape from the ordinary Review: This book has sex, murder, intrigue, suspense, intelligence and many forms of love (not necessarily in this order). Serpant's Dance is an intense dive into the complexity of desire, greed, and the power of friendship. Larry Brooks writes with a masterful and insightful hand and I fell in lust with the main characters. Serpant's Dance is incredible. I urge you to buy this book for the sheer pleasure of devouring it.
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC BOOK, SUPER FUN READ, HIGHLY RECOMMEND Review: This book now ranks as one of my favorite books. I found myself unable to put it down; I read it in two days. The plot was fresh with very interesting and believeable characters. The best mystery books to me are when I try to guess what will happen and I am completely wrong-this is one of those books. I was constantly surprised by the twists and turns this book took and I never could of predicted the ending. I truly did not want this book to end. I would confidently recommend this book, even to people who usually don't read mystery novels. A+ book.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely stunning! Very highly recommended Review: When her sister's death is reported as suicide, Bernadette "Bernie" Kane does not believe it. Peggy would not have leapt from a sixth floor hotel window over a broken love affair. Although her sister's life had been through into upheaval over the discovery of her unfaithfulness, Peggy seemed happy enough over the looming divorce and affair with computer CEO Wesley. Bernie enlists the aid of long time friend Eric Killen to locate the illusive Wesley, intending to prove his link to Peggy's death. Eric's research leads them to Wesley Edwards of Oar Research in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bernie cleverly arranges employment as a contractor, and engages a game meant to exact vengeance. Soon, however, Bernie finds herself caught in a maze of deception, secrets, and blood lust. Author Larry Brooks pens an addictive suspense with SERPENT'S DANCE that readers will find mesmerizing. Seductive vengeance turns deadly when complex contradictions trap key players. Despite her resourcefulness, Bernie is ill prepared for secrets that go beyond her imagination. Wesley presents an enigmatic profile that at one baffles readers even while drawing them in. The sexual players known as Damian and Diana provide evocative, dangerous imagery and almost incomprehensible madness in a world where the serpent's dance is everything. An intriguing read filled with crisp prose detailing a dark and dangerous world, SERPENT'S DANCE comes very highly recommended.
