Summary: Typical T.M. Wrght
Review: "The House on Orchid Street" is typical T.M. Wright, which means it's subtle, spooky, beautifully written, and lasts far beyond the turning of the final page. I recently read his other new book, "Cold House" (Shocklines.com), and was more impressed with it than I have been by any other novel all year

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Confusing ghost story
Review: Although a few scenes were very eerie, Wright's latest novel is chock full of plot holes and several questions go unanswered. This one is for ghost-story completists only.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: buyer beware...house history is important
Review: Another fine novel by TM Wright. I keep thinking he will run out of intriguing characters for his books. Yet, he keeps coming back with new and fresh ideas. I personally, don't care for plots. They merely prepare an outline for the reader to follow throughout the story. Wright allows me to keep guessing and questioning his characters motives and actions.

Summary: Relax!
Review: Dear Mr. Wright...Hey...take it easy there! You are a great writer, and I have enjoyed many of your novels. And, yes, there are holes in this story! Get a grip! It's not the end of the world.

Summary: King of Stealth
Review: Don't like subtle yet bizarre writing that sneaks up behind you and whispers "boo"? No? Well then, I'd advise that you stay away from T.M. Wright's books, because if it's a big, loud, bloody growl you're looking for, he ain't going there.

"The House on Orchid Street" not only whispers, it pants, hisses in your ear, makes you squirm, all without a single beheading, fork in the eye, or demonic baby clawing its way out of Mother. Wright's prose can be deceptively delicate, even pretty as hell sometimes, but make no mistake -- his intent is anything but pretty, and the creep-factor decidedly NOT delicate. And if you don't like to think too hard while reading, Wright most definitely isn't for you, perhaps just as Annie Proulx or Ramsey Campbell isn't to your taste, but if you do enjoy a story that allows you to come to your own conclusion, a story that satisfies nonetheless, then give this one a try.

Oh, and he's funny, too. Rare that an author can make me smile or laugh out loud with one paragraph, make me nervous the next. T.M. Wright likes to catch his reader off guard, and he does that very well.

Others here have recommended "Cold House," so I'll join the chorus. "Cold House" is Wright at his very best. Oh, my God, yes.

Summary: Eerie and Compelling
Review: I always get excited when I see a new T.M. Wright book out on the stands... and this one is no exception. There are a few spelling errors that sometimes pop up throughout the book, but that can't be blamed on the author... fire the copy editor!!!! This novel resonated with me long after I was finished. The mythology was facinating, the characters real, and the pacing of the scenes and dialogue moved wonderfully. I was slightly unsatisfied with the ending, but I still rank T.M. Wright among the top 10 horror authors of the last 2 decades.

Summary: Poorly Written
Review: I haven't read many books that I could say were really poorly written, but this would be one of them. The book jumps around, I found myself going back to the previous page to find out how Katherine ended up in one place or another, or if I just missed reading something. Things are mentioned - but the scenes never take place. I was reminded of many movies - where scenes that would have explained something, ended up on the cutting room floor.

In one scene, searchers are looking for her missing brother, the search was called off, and next thing the reader knows is the brother is dead - because she received a phone call telling her this - yet the phone call never occurred. Perhaps I've just missed some literary trick - but I was confused.

Much better 'horror' books out there - this is not what I would call horror, and not suspense either.
