Rating: Summary: Spectacular -- A Must Read! Review: This was one of the greatest books I have ever read. Once I started reading it was hard to set it down and wait to keep going. I got this as it was released week by week. I was waiting for it to be in the stores a couple times during it's original release. I recommend this book because it was just miraculous, with great facts and details, making vivid images in your mind. This is one of Stephen King's best books - enjoy!
Rating: Summary: THE STORY JUST COMES ALIVE Review: I just felt like I knew these people and I could not stop reading the book. I rented the casettes and I was driving back and forth to the book store to rent the next chapter. I am not a mouse lover but somehow he makes it work. Whatever he says I will listen and probably enjoy.
Rating: Summary: a tremendous story Review: Stephen King is one of the best writers of the 20th century, and The Green Mile is one of his best books. I had been on a nonfiction kick for years, until I read this book - and remembered why I liked fiction so much. Magical, mysterious, horrifying and wondrous - this book has at all. Please read it - you will definitely not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King's best novel mixes drama with the supernatural Review: The Green Mile is a fascinating look at prison life and death. I found the book very dramatic and suspenseful. Stephen King knows how to spin a marvelous tale of a group of prison guard and inmates with a strange twist. This book is powerful enough to bring men to tears. Another powerful tale dealing with prison life is The Shawshank Redemption.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST KING'S BOOK (so far) Review: When i read King's works that have nothing to do do with vampires , monsters or such kind forms of evil(despite how much i love some of books like these -"The Shining" and "Salem's Lot"), i keep wondering why does the man keep writing books such as "The Tommyknockers" or "Desperation"and "Regulators". He can be sooo good when he writes a whole book refearing to terror in our real life ,"monsters" in our neighbourhood or hell places on "our world ",but also to humanity, magic, hope, frienship and salvation."The Green Mile" as well as his novels from "Four Seasons" ("Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption", "Apt Pupil" or "The Body"- his masterpieces- for instance) are some of his works i am refering to. Read the Green Mile immediatelly!!! And as you turn the last page with tears in your eyes and John Coffey in your mind you will have understood some things about Life, True Values in it , and how your day ( week?- month?-year?...) can be coloured just by reading a book... P.S.1: Stephen keep up the good work!!! P.S.2: Frank (Darabond) offer the book a movie it deserves...
Rating: Summary: awesome story-telling...couldnt put it down Review: outstanding...one of the best novels ive read. once i started it...i couldnt put it down. stephen king at his best
Rating: Summary: Great novel, great author. Review: Early in this novel--in the foreword, in fact--Stephen King writes about how Charles Dickens became very prominent for writing various novels in serial installments. He went on to say that he was going to try to do just that by writing The Green Mile. Not quite become famous--because of course he's already known the world over--but gain more fame. Well, that's exactly what he did. The Green Mile, all six parts, have all been in the New York Times' bestselling list simultaneously. So, I guess Stephen King did gain a little more fame. Not only did he gain more fame, but he made bestselling history. I think that writing The Green Mile was no mistake at all--the novel was extraordinary! Unlike Desperation and The Dark Tower series, The Green Mile was not surreal at all. The characters were extraordinary and the plot is one to make Dean Koontz itch. The character John Coffey was, in my opinion, the best chracter King ever created. Meanwhile, I found that Paul Edgecombe had a lot in common with Ralph Roberts from Insomnia. Both men were interested in women at their age. Also, I found that the length in which Paul Edgecombe lived was exaggerated. Beyond all that, The Green Mile was a phantasmagorical roller-coaster ride. It's a story of supernatural action written at top perfection. I never thought I'll read something like this again. You see, after I read The Tommyknockers, I wanted to stop reading Stephen King completely. But I found that The Green Mile was no where as tedious as The Tommyknockers. The characters will linger in my mind forever. This is a novel worth reading.
Rating: Summary: READ IT NOW, PEOPLE Review: EXCELLENT. I READ IT NONSTOP IN A FLIGHT FROM AMERICA TO SAUDI ARABIA. I HAD 20 PAGES TO GO AND I READ THE BOOK WHILE I WAS DEPARTING THE PLANE, WAITING IN THE TERMINAL, AND GETTING MY BAGGAGES. A MUST READ. I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN. THE MOVIE, DIRECTED BY FRANK DARABONT (SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION) AND STARRING TOM HANKS, HAS TO BE EXCELLENT, OR I WILL BE VERY ANGRY.
Rating: Summary: An awesome display of storytelling.... Review: This is the second King novel I have read in many years... the first most recent was Bag of Bones which has re-sparked my interest in his writing abilities. This book was hardly set down from the time I opened it to the sad ending (regarding Janice)and honestly brought tears to my eyes. This was a moving piece of work and deserves more than 5 stars!!
Rating: Summary: Very impressive. Review: I recently read this book. It was one of his best. A good ending and a good storyline. John Coffey, God's gift, is a magnificant main character. Some of King's books leave a person feeling like they missed a part but this gave it's all. Great book.
