Summary: A good read
Review: Though not Duncan's best work, Gallows Hill is still a smooth, fast-paced piece of work. The reader can identify immediately with Sarah and is caught up in her story until the very last page. This one cannot compare up to Killing Mr. Griffin and other more sophisticated novels like The Twisted Window, but Gallows Hill is still entertaining and a good read. The karma concept is fascinating.

Summary: IT WAS OKAY
Review: I HAVE READ ALL EXCEPT TWO OF LOIS DUNCAN'S BOOKS AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT GALLOW'S HILL IS MY LEAST FAVORITE BOOK BY HER. THE ENDING WAS NEAT AND I LOVE TO READ BOOKS ABOUT WITCHCRAFT BUT IT WASN'T THAT CREEPY. GALLOW'S HILL WAS OKAY.

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: I loved this book because it was suspensful. She didn't wright this book from a nairow point of view and I liked that. I like books with supernatural plots, and this one fits that description! This book has originality and charactor! Very good!

Summary: What was that about Californians?
Review: I liked this book, but as a warning, do not start reading it at eleven at night and then find you can't put it down. It's more than a little scary; however, I found one thing I really had a problem with. The stereotype. Not the one of the townspeople, but the one of Californians. I live in California. I eat junk food, am not the member of a religous cult, actually call my parents Mom and Dad as opposed to there first names, do not spend all my time on the beach, or any other such nonsense. When I see this I usually note the place the athuor is from. In my two most notable cases, Baby Sitter's club, and this, the athuors are from Conneticut or North Carolina. But that's just an observation.

Summary: A TRULY MYSYERIOUS BOOK.
Review: Lois Duncan has written another fabulous book. Sarah moves into strange, but innocent small town. At first nothing seems scary with no true vilan. But as you read on the vilans start to appear in the most unexpected people. With many refrences to the Salem witch trials this book is a great mystery with a special twist.

Summary: Good, but could have a slower ending.
Review: This was a great book, but the ending was to fast. She spent practically the whole book talking about KARMAS and WITCHCRAFT and then, at the end, it all ends in less than a chapter. It could have a few more twists to it like Charlie could turn evil at the last minute, or all of the students wouuld become possesed and actually try to kill her. It also had a bad ending because it should have ended in something to make you think, not just that they went back to California.

Summary: THE BEST LOIS DUNCAN BOOK I HAVE READ SO FAR!!!
Review: I read GALLOWS HILL because I was interested in witchcraft and also because I love Lois Duncan novels. I never ever expected it to be so great! It was very exciting, and stood out from all the billions of books I have read. The town in this novel is so strange, I kept having to remind myself that it took place in present day! I highly recommend this book to anyone who just wants a good, fascinating, entriguing book to read.

Summary: I'D RATE IT A 11 OUT OF 10!!!!!!
Review: THIS WAS ANOTHER ONE OF LOIS DUNCAN'S AMAZING BOOKS. I READ IT IN ONE SITTING IT WAS SO GOOD. IT WAS A CUP MYSTERY, A TABLESPOON DRAMA, A PINCH OF SCARYNESS, A DAP OF BREATHTAKING, AND A CUP REINCARNATION. IF YOU WANT TO READ A GOOD BOOK THIS IS THE ONE TO READ!

Summary: Bland and Insipid - A Disappointing Read
Review: I have been a long fan of Lois Duncan's and have read at least a dozen of her novels. Besides providing great stories, her writing style is pure magic. Many times I reread her books just to listen again to the beautiful language. Imagine my disappointment then with Gallow's Hill - predictable plot, bland characters. It was a struggle to finish this book. This is the first Lois Duncan novel that I gave away after reading. I would recommend any of her other works - Stranger With My Face, Summer of Fear, Ransom, Down a Dark Hall, Locked in Time - just not this one.
