Rating: Summary: Something Different! Review: The Midnight Club are a group of dying teens in a hospice who get together each midnight to tell stories.I didn't much like the stories which took up a large deal of the novel. It is a novel about death and about friendship and about miracles.Oh yeah and about reincarnation and everything else to do with death.Chris Pike has his feet wading in everything.Heaven, hell, reincarnation,God or no.I wasn't sure this book was entirely my cup of tea but I think I might get another Christopher Pike book out of fascination and curiosity for his unusual writings.
Rating: Summary: Vanessa(see more about me) Review: When I read the back cover of the book, I was expecting grueseome tales of death and murders. But instead it was kinda the opposite. I loved how he made the two main characters lovers or friends in each of their past lives. It totally made me think about who i was in my past life and about karma. if ure really into karma, past lives and all that new age stuff. this is the book to read.
Rating: Summary: Amazing and Touching Review: This book is about a group of teenagers who all live in a hospice, a place where they go to die from their terminal illnesses. They meet at the stroke of midnight to tell stories that they make up themselves, to help them pass the time. This book is very touching as you face the death of friends through their eyes and hear their stories as they each hold a hint of something they regret in their past or even of a life the had lived in another time. Join in and share their happiness and their tears.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful story Review: This book does not have much to do with the description on the back of the book nor is it like any other Pike novel in that there is no supernatural creatures or spells. But it was a beautiful book about death from the eyes of teenagers spending their last days in a hospice- their fears, hopes, and end. If anyone is having to face issues about death in their own life, i srongly reccomend this book. I really liked this book because it is not like any other book I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Midnight Club.... Review: A hospice is where people go to die. Spence, Keven, llonka, Anya, and Sandra each have an illness, and are spending their time in the hospice until they die. They are members of The Midnight Club. They gather at midnight to tell storys of violence, horror, adventures, love, past lives, ect. After one particular story, they make a pact. That the first one of them will try and contact the others from beyond the grave through some sort of sign. But will it work? And if it does, who will be the first to go? One thing i suggest, don't listen to the back of the book. The pact actually isn't the main part of the book. Their storys and their lives at the hospital are. But i'm not going to get into all that. Great story. I cried at the end though. It was REALLY sad.
Rating: Summary: Pike's best Review: It is about five friends at a hospice. Each is dying, and they do not know how long they have to live. Every night, they tell each other stories that help them cope. One tells past lives. Another one tells stories of violent revenge. And many more. One night, they make a pact--whoever dies first will do whatever possible to come back and tell them about the afterlife. READ THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: I read this story for the first time so long ago, and to this day I still find it inspiring. The story starts by introducing us to a group of teenager's all dying from some terminal disease. This group gets together to tell these beautiful, and somewhat quirky stories about life and death. All the while the main character of the group, Ilonka, has been in agony over her feelings for Kevin, another group member. Here they are both at deaths door but Ilonka keeps having this sense of deja vu. She feels as though she knows Kevin, and not only from the hospice where they've just met, but also through the many stories she shares with the group. She realizes they're not just stories, but the many lives they have lived together. Each member harbours unmistakable fear about dying, yet they all ponder over one final question, What happens when they finally do die? So they make a pact so that the first to die will come back and give the group a sign if there's life after death. It turns out to be one sign that they realize has more of a profound meaning then they first anticipated, but it's one that they all depend on in the end.
Rating: Summary: Emotional! Review: i couldn't put this book down. it wasn't scary as much as it was emotional. the story was put together well, and i loved it. i laughed and i cried.
Rating: Summary: i loved it ! Review: I have read many books of Christopher Pike's, "Midnight Club" is truly his greatest piece of work. The book has many stories told by kids who have cancer. Pike does a wonderful job illustrating these kids life, you feel their pain and suffering. One story that touched me the most, was the one with the Angel. The book was very easy to read, I finish it in one day. After reading this book, you realized that nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes! The main theme in the book, Pike focuses on is FORGIVENESS. I recommend this book to everyone. It's different than most of his other books. There's less action and gore, but still its wonderful book to read.
Rating: Summary: The Midnight Club Review: I must agree with the review posted by the reader from Iowa City, this is definently a book for all ages. It touches many senses, mostly love. Although it may sound depressing or morbid to read about teens in a hospice waiting to die, you find as you read, it is neither. You find yourself loving each character more and more with every turn of the page, and knowing they will live eternally in your mind and heart after the book is over. Their strength and bravery is touching and commendable, and after reading this novel, you will see what is really important in life is love and making the most of each day. The dramatic portrayal of each character is amazing. The stories told by the midnight club are also very memorable, with that notable Pike twist, and horror. Over all, this book is wonderful, and touching, it will leave you with a sense of warmth, and love, and a life lesson.
