Summary: I should have "Chosen" a different book
Review: Some points have already been made: Horrible editing, typos, great quotes, and moments taken out of the book: For instance in Beneath You, a bit of the Nancy story is gone, such as her line "Any one here not sleep with each other" something to take effect, it's been awhile since I've seen the episode

Don't know if it's just my copy, but during "Conversations with Dead People" it jumps from page 120 to 521 which terminates that episode novelization. That ticked me off

Summary: More Like an Episode Guide than a Novel
Review: The author of 'Chosen' had the easiest writing assignment in the world: copy dialogue verbatim from each of the 22 episodes of the seventh season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", add in some non-dialogue sentences, including such phrases as *she said* and *he said*, then get it published. The result is this 668 page novel that feels more like a seventh-season summary than an actual novel.

My first complaint is that the novel feels rushed. Obviously, they wanted it to get to stores at around the same time as the series finale aired, so maybe that accounts for the numerous grammatical and spelling errors, and the occasional absence of quotation marks where there should be some. But even if that is an excuse, there is nothing more annoying than reading a published book that was supposed to have gone through an editor before being published. These mistakes should not have been left in.

My second complaint is this: I knew this was going to be a young adult novel, like pretty much all of the "Buffy" novelizations, but I just felt like no effort at all was put into it to make it readable even by 13-17-year-olds, let alone us older "Buffy" fans who are no longer teeny-boppers. Using such words as "kissage" and telling us that "Kennedy licked Willow with her pierced tongue" produced major gagging spells, and many rollings of the eyes. Come on. I've read a couple other "Buffy" novels, and they are not nearly this bad. Of course, the other novels are based on original ideas, not on actual episodes. As for being based on the entire seventh season, all 22 episodes together would equal more than 668 pages (with fairly large print, too), so some things are left out, and all the rest is so rushed that it barely feels like anything important is happening.

In my opinion, the final season of "Buffy" was superb. That season alone would definitely get 5 stars. But this book only touches the surface. If you saw all 22 episodes for free on your TV, you do not need to read the book. 'Chosen' is basically just a summary, or overview, of the season as a whole. But if you can remember most of the things that happened this season, you do not need the summary of it. If you would like to know what happened in a certain episode, I would suggest waiting for another "Buffy" guide to come out in the future that will give an episode guide of seasons 1-7. You don't need to waste your time on this poorly written novel. If you feel you must read something Buffy, try any of the novelizations NOT based on an episode, or try going to a "Buffy" fanfic site. But please, save your money on this one.

Summary: Little dissapointment.......
Review: The book was great, just for the fact that it is a great collectors item and you could actually know what some of the people are thinking....but not enough unfortunatly.
The book could have had tons more detail. The reason i like reading books based on episodes of buffy, is that you can get in to the characters heads, know what they're thinking, how they feel. I love that in these books...but this one didnt have that...it didi a little bit. but not where I wanted it. i wanted so much to know what Giles was thinking in so many parts. or Buffy, or Xander..but that didn't happen. That kinda ruined the book for me.
Also, the spelling and grammar. HORRIBLE. It hasn't been edited. It doesn't even say who WROTE the thing. It obviously wasn't Christopher Golden. I actuall started reading the book again and was highlighting the mistakes....it became to many, so i stopped. :p.
But no matter all that, the book is a MUST for any Buffy fan. I took off two points because of those two matters i spoke about, otherwise it was really good.

Summary: Good stories, lousy copy editing.
Review: The story this book tells, believe it or not, is actually better than the one that we were presented on the screen this season. Read all at once, S7's major themes are presented in much sharper focus. Spike's martyrdom and Xander's eye are foreshadowed as early as the fourth and fifth episodes, and whoever did the ghostwriting on this did a fine job of sympathizing Buffy's internal monologue while the rest of us were screaming a word that begins with "B" and does not end with "uffy" at the screen. No, the reason this book loses two stars is a much stupider, lazier reason. It doesn't appear that anyone bothered to copyedit this book at all. It's rife with typos from start to finish, and while many of them stop at being simply annoying, there are several that are so bad that they interfere with understanding the book. For example, every time that the words 'the first' are used, they are capitalized, regardless of whether it refers to the Big Bad or not. There is one instance where the writer was referring to the first Sunnydale High School that I had to read five times to understand. It's terrible to see a good book brought low because of an impatient lack of effort.

Summary: Buffy's last hurrah...
Review: This >600 page book is the entire seventh and final season of Buffy made into a book- and covers the entire last season of the series from episode 7-1 lessons to the last chosen. For buffy fans, we have already seen the season play out on TV, but the book is a nice compiling of the stories, themes and arcs.

Having all the episodes as one makes it easier to see the connecting arcs- reading what the characters are thinking/feeling is a great bonus, esp in the final chapters. I liked hearing this author's interpretation of buffy and spike's final moments in the hellmouth as he is dusted by sunlight.

The book lost a star with me, due to the horrible editing and proofreading. The story was great, but the constant grammar errors, typos, etc were very distracting and sometimes confusing. If we could somehow clean up the editing, this book would rate 5 stars!

Summary: Interesting read
Review: This book is a very intersting read and could easily get 5 stars but it loses one star due to all the typos! You can't help but cringe when you read them and you wonder why the editor couldn't take the time to check the spelling!

It also loses one star due to Nancy Holder not putting things in full detail. For example: Some scenes from the show were not mentioned in the book, or they were mentioned later, but you still didn't get the full dialogue. Like the scene in the beginning of "Same Time, Same Place" where that mexican teenager gets killed by Gnarl, it is not in the book, although his death is mentioned. And the scene with Buffy, Xander, and Dawn in the funeral home at the beginning isn't in the book either.

But, it is still interesting to read what the characters are thinking and finding out what some things really meant. And it lets you be able to say that you read a 668 page book!

Summary: Chosen:Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Nancy Holder
Review: This book is all about season seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer show. Even though not all the quotes were exactly the same, it was compleatly season seven.

There were cute Buffy and Spike moments as well as some funny quotes from the gang.

Some of the new chracters were anoying, but over all it was a good read.

I liked this book becasue it was writen exactly like the episodes were. All the characters were writen corectly and that is the most important thing in a book that comes from a popular show.

Summary: Lots of Mistakes yet a GREAT book
Review: This book is great. I have to admit though the spelling errors are annoying. Although a true Buffy fan(like myself :> ) wouldn't let that bother them. The author did a great job of summing up the seventh season. But I wished they would of added more dialogue between the characters. The whole Spike/amulet thing at the end of "Chosen" was sweet and sad. Spike was great but I think Angel is better for Buffy in my own opinion. I love Spike but I really don't think he's best for her. One thing I do hope though is that they do a novel for every season. That would be great! All in all, it was a great book and it definitely should be added to your collection.

PS: Did anyone noticed that the author messed up the title of an episode? She had two "End of Days". The 1st one I believe is supposed to be "Touched". Correct me if I'm wrong.

Summary: warning!!!
Review: this book was a grave disappointment. it costs [a lot] and all it does is give you season seven in written form. hello(just got finished watching season seven). if you missed that season this book is for you. if you watched it like me and thought that it was probaly the dullest season to date, skip this buffy book and wait for the next one to come out.

Summary: Whedon's work still shines through
Review: This edition was abysmal. I gave up trying to count the typos, but there had to have been hundreds of them. I realize media tie-in books aren't high literature, but I don't think expecting a little bit of effort is so unrealistic. The only things this book had going for it are the original scripts by Joss Whedon and the other writers of the show. The author's supposed insights into the minds of the characters when they spoke these lines of dialogue are frequently trite and irksome. To me, this was a stop-gap measure until the seventh season comes out on DVD. I didn't get into the series until it was nearly over, so it was at least useful in finding out what happened during the first half. It can get one star for that.
