Summary: Sucked into a vortex of chills...
Review: "Superstition" starts calmly enough as a skeptical reporter exposes fraudulent mediums and observes rigorous but charming laboratory experiments into psychic phenomena. Briskly and logically, we follow the reporter as she joins a group of professionals in a plausible experiment to create the ghost of someone who, as far as the group's research shows, had never existed in history. As their discussion progresses, they make this "person" an American Revolutionary hero who is later executed during the French Revolution. As this character is "fleshed" out by the group members, strange things begin to happen to them...until we're afraid, yet compelled, to turn the page and find out what happens next. What does happen next is a jaw-dropping, chilling surprise.

Summary: Great book until the last couple of chapters.
Review: After reading several reviews of this book I could not wait to get it. I went out that very night and bought it. I was up until about 3 a.m. and then could not fall asleep right away because the book scared me so much. Then, the next day - I couldn't wait to get back to it. I was totally disappointed - what a let down. What happened to Adam Wyatt? The ghost was such a great part of the book and then poof! he was gone - no explanation and then the confusion of Ralph Cazaubon and Joanna. I guess I'll have to wait for the movie - maybe the movie will integrate more of the ghost and explain exactly what happend to Joanna.

Summary: It left me breathless! Kudos to the "summarizers!"
Review: As a devourer of mystery and suspense, I found this volume to be a real "head-shaker!" It would be a fantastic movie and provides enough open-ended material to begin a "sequel!" As I attempted to explain what I had just read to a very literate son and daughter, I found myself almost unable to string the events into a believable story because of the great twists and turns of the plot. I can usually figure out a well-written mystery, but this was an amazing exception! I couldn't wait to read another of Ambrose's creations! Well done!

Summary: I couldn't put it down...
Review: Don't start this book in the evening, because you won't be able to put it down, and like me, you'll be up all night, with all the lights on, as this realistic thriller takes you on a ride better than any roller coaster. What makes David Ambrose's story so effective is its likeable characters, its grounding in scientific facts, and its constantly moving action. Highly recommended!

Summary: Scary and unprovable!
Review: Everyone is superstitious to some degree. They have to be. Look at the fact. Every cause has an effect. Cause and effect are opposites. so are black and white, right and wrong, good and evil - the list is endless! Opposites, like the two sides of a mirror. One cannot exist without the other. OR CAN IT?

Sam Towne was a Parapsychologist that believed ghosts came from the human mind, not from beyond. For an experiment he got eight volunteers, including reporter Joanna Cross and physics professor Roger Fullerton. They would use "psi" to make "tulpas". To put it simply, they would make up a person, give him a pretend life, discuss him until he became "real" to all of those in the group, and then have the "thought-form" respond to them! They would make a real ghost!

Soon, Adam Wyatt was made. He was a tragic Revolutionary War hero. Everyone was thrilled when he began rapping on tables and spelling out messages. But then members of the group began to die in awful ways! And there was no way to exorcize Adam. He was killing them one at a time!

*** Scary and unprovable! I felt a couple chills as I read this one. Perfect for fans of horror or those who just enjoy a good ghost story! Should not give you nightmares. But you will remember this story, and wonder, for the rest of your life! Excellent! ***

Summary: The creepiest page-turner I've read this year.
Review: I am an avid reader of horror and dark fantasy, and because of this I find that it takes a lot to scare me. THIS BOOK SCARED ME! When reading late at night I found myself wanting to keep the hall light on outside of my bedroom after putting the book down. I thought the ending could have been a little less ambiguous, but it was still good. If you like books that are creepy, you'll enjoy this one. Dave Ambrose is one author I'll be watching out for. You may wanna check out: Dark Gods by T.E.D. Klein, or Fallen Angel by William Hjortsberg

Summary: WANNA GOOD CREEPY SCARE? BUY THIS!!
Review: I bought this book to pass the time reading during my commute to and from work. I was in for a surprise. This book takes the question (are ghosts in your mind or are they real?) and proceeds to build a wonderful mystery replete with suspense and a good chill up your spine. The ending was so surprisingly chilling and enthralling I missed my train stop trying to finish the book. Now is that good or what?

ENJOY.

Summary: A welcome breath of fresh air.
Review: I found this book in the bargain section of a local bookseller. I am so glad I picked it up, because it was one of the more intriguing reads that I have found in a while. His study into the science of the paranormal is Crichton-esque. He writes with a clarity that is definitely refreshing. After reading this, I will definitely find more of Ambrose's work to experience. 5 out of 5

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: I loved the book and didn't want it to end. The beginning was a bit hard to digest, even for me...a believer, but once that train took off, I coudn't put the book down. I reflected on the book afterwards and the characters remained with me. Very thought provoking, engaging, readable, and extremely entertaining. I could read these kinds of good books forever! What a treat!
