Summary: It was alright
Review: Abandoning his tried and true method of story-though-diary form, Romkey also abandons Princess Tatiana, and his characters'personalities. The reader is manipulated through a series of unbelievable circumstances and forced to endure an almost Anne Ricean atmosphere with none of her talent for description or character empathy. Mozart is almost hostile, Tatiana is only briefly referred to, and we are never given a good reason for her abandonment, and as an earlier reviewer mentioned, David Parker is almost a non-existent player, as most of the action centers around other people, and he allows himself to be manipulated and pushed about by events and characters. There are good things about the book, and Romkey is a good writer. Perhaps he should have written this book with new characters - ones his faithful readers hadn't already come to know and expect certain things from.

Summary: Good Vampire Book
Review: I enjoyed this book very much, after having read I, Vampire and the Vampire Papers. This book focused more on Niccoleta and less on David Parker. Mr. Romkey made it a point to show just how evil and depraved she really is. If you're a David Parker fan, you'll be a little disappointed. He's not in much of the book. The David Parker in this book is a shadow of his former self. He's pretty pathetic. But, I think that just shows how powerful Niccoleta really is. Even David agrees that he's no match for her. I would love to see another book where David Parker goes up against her. That would be a hell of a fight. The whole cruise thing is kinda over the top. There are so many characters that it's a bit hard to follow at times, especially the part about the voodoo priest. What's that all about?? I really recommend the book, because you get a feel for Niccoleta. The Vampire Papers didn't go into great detail about her past.

Summary: the good...the bad...and the ugly
Review: The good...the entire story line of "princepessa" was excellent, when dealing with her past. Could have been an excellent novel in it's own rite had Romkey stuck with her and her early years. The bad...the whole cruise ship scenario seemed lame and completely incredible. He jumps around from character to character so much my head was spinning. Did enjoy how the ship was ressurected and the story line associated with it. The ugly...David Parker reduced to a whimpering, whipped vampire. The David Parker I got to know in Romkey's first two books would never have succumbed to such a fate. All in all I still enjoy Romkey's "twist" on the vampire genre.

Summary: Love her or hate her
Review: The third novel in Michael Romkey's Vampire series focuses on Nicoletta, the Vampire Princess. Her life story, from being a young girl to the ruthless Vampire she is today, brings up so many emotions, you find it hard to know if you should love her or despise her. Emotions ranging from sadness, sorrow and desperation, to savage, brutal, and totally barbarian.

The book bounces back and forth between a diary of Nicolette's past to a modern day outlandish terror adventure on the high seas. There are essentially two seperate story lines within this book with the Princess featured in both. The style of the book seemed rather 'choppy', with so many scenes, one after another. I believe this was intentional but I did find it irratating at times.

If you liked the previous two novels in this series; I, Vampire, and The Vampire Papers, then you have to read this one. David does have a role in the book, but it is minor and incidental. The story could have worked just as well without him, and in some ways, I wish that was so. When I think of him in this book, all I can say is: don't pity the fool.

Summary: Romkey the Vampire King
Review: This is the third installment of Michael Romkey's vampire books. This book although it does contain David Parker is about the vampire Princess Nicoletta Vittorine Di Medusa. This story focuses on her early life and her exploits on a luxury liner. Although this is not as good as the previous two books "I, Vampire" and "The Vampire Papers" it is still good reading.
