Rating: Summary: Best Koontz and one of the Best Science Fiction Stories ever Review: Science fiction, particularly time travel, is a difficult venue. Koontz once again proves to be an accomplished master of suspense as well as of science fiction. Paradox, which haunts most time travel novels, is carefully avoided. This is an outstanding work with a great plot which should be a part of any sci-fi buff's permanaent collection.
Rating: Summary: An okay story ruined by plot contrivences... Review: Scientist from the future uses time travel to protect the life of a girl in our time. She grows up through several horrific events to become an author. A passible story gets jolted in serveral points as Koontz attempts to explain major plot holes by saying his protagonist "did research on it for a novel"
Rating: Summary: Best Dean Koontz Book Ever! Review: Once again Dean Koontz triumphs. Dean Koontz has written alot ofbooks, but none have ever made me think as much, or care about the characters more than in Lightning. I've read alot of Dean Koontz books, but this is by far the best. Dean Koontz gives such a rich background of the characters. And just when you think that everything is semi-normal, Dean Koontz throws you for a loop! This is a must read book for all Dean Koontz fans!
Rating: Summary: Great suspense. Review: If you love a great cross between horror/suspense and a little bit of science ficton, you'll love this book. I have to admit, I hate sci-fi. I don't like time travel and other stuff like that--but this book rocked! I'm starting an on-line horror book club. If you're interested, e-mail me at the above address.
Rating: Summary: Lightning gives a new insight into the realm of time travel! Review: Well writen, this book is the very typical Koontz novel. His story lines keep the reader reading until they have completed the book. Not his very best but worth reading as it tells the stuggle of a man to do right when he is surrounded by so much evil.
Rating: Summary: one of his best Review: a great story of time travel and love , plus a car chase that has to be the best ever written.
Rating: Summary: Great!! Review: This was my first Koontz book and I loved it, I just couldn't put it down
Rating: Summary: This is the best book by Koontz Review: This was the first book I read of Koontz and I've been hooked on him since. As always, Koontz gets you hooked the first page. He very successfully writes about Laura's life for 35 years without being to lengthy and boring, but still making it seem like she's been a lifelong friend. I loved the Ackerson twins. He made me wish that I was lucky enough to have a Stefan in my life to protect me. He brings scifi, love, and mystery and wraps it all into one wonderful story. Since I bought this book 6 years ago I've read it 14 times and all his other ones at least 3 times. Every time I read Lightning I find it intriguing and a beautiful love story. He's definitely the master at multi-genre stories.
Rating: Summary: A GRIPPING INTRODUCTION TO DEAN KOONTZ Review: I mentioned to a Scottish friend of mine I was a Stephen King's fan. She recommended me Dean Koontz for a change. I bought "Lightning" and had the impression I was going to read an inferior Stephen King's clone. SHAME ON ME! Although the book started with some elements of just another usual horror tale , as the plot unravelled, Koontz dealt with the theme more plausibly than his counterpart would probably have. A convincing insight on the always intriguing subject of time-travelling is given; and though not so deep as H. G. Wells' "The Time Machine" or Isaac Asimov's "The End of Eternity", "Lightning" represents an excellent option for readers in search of a mind-teasing tale.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Koontz books! Review: My first Koontz book...I was hooked after this one! Great character development, very interesting plot and some on the edge of your seat reading! I thoroughly enjoyed this one....
