Summary: Best Buffy Book!
Review: This is the best Buffy book to date. Buffy has to deal with some immortal vampire (she really is immortal, as soon as Buffy kills her she immediately reincarnates into another body) who is hoping to bring her masters, the Triumvirate or Three-Who-Are-One, to earth. All this is going on while her mother is being opperated on. Buffy also ponders her relationship with Angel and the future she has with him.

The writers have really made a good book. They tap into the history of the villains and another Slayer who faced Veronique. It's not to gory either. And the story lines really mesh.

Review: I LOVE this book! It was one of the best buffy books I've read! If you haven't read it yet may I suggest you stop reading this review and go get it! The story line was awsome! The climax was awsome! Overall it deserves an award! So that's why I gave it 5 stars! :)

Summary: Book great. Tape ?
Review: As always, Golden and Holder have done a great job with this book. I also bought the tape and was a bit disappointed in Charisma Carpenter's reading. Her attempts at accents are poor and she doesn't drive the story with her reading. The abridgement itself was pretty strong, although it did lose some of the characterization that Golden and Holder are so good at. The book is a must for Buffy fans. As far as the tape goes, it's worth hearing once but I could take it or leave it.

Summary: Another superb Buffy novel!
Review: I personally think it's great that Pocket Books is now publishing Buffy novels in hardcover, despite the price. Selecting Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder to lead the new batch of books was a great move again. Who else could possibly insert such life and accuracy into the characters of Buffy? Immortal was yet another classic Golden & Holder collaboration. It had the same innovative plot, a glance into the history of the villain(s) and other characters, deadly accurate characterisations, witty dialogue and subtle references to the show's episodes as well as other novels by the authors. A truly great novel, it certainly is a pity that Immortal will be the last Golden & Holder collaboration for awhile. At least they ended the partnership with a bang! I certainly look forward to their upcoming solo efforts, and I'm sure I am not alone in that.

Summary: Absolutely the best!!!
Review: If you never read another Buffy book, be sure to read this one. It is absolutely the best of the series next to the Gatekeeper Trilogy, which is another series that I advise you to pick up. The books are well written and I like that all the characters are utilized. The plots are well thought out and very well done. Christopher Golder and Nancy Holder are the best authors in this series and I have read other books out of the series by them.

Summary: BUFFY ROCKS!!!!
Review: I have just discovered the brilliance of 'Buffy' and have been wasting my hard earned dollars buying and hiring anything to do with 'Buffy', particularly if it involves that rather delectable Angel. YUM YUM!!!!

A must for Buffy fans!!!!

Summary: These authors are simply the best at writing about Buffy
Review: Golden and Holder consistently turn in readable, exciting Buffy novels and this is the best yet. Buffy is up against a creature who can be killed but who immediately reincarnates in a new body, and who wants to usher a terrible demon into earthbound reality. An unrelated threat to her mother has the Slayer torn in two directions. An interesting philosophical juxtaposition between the immortal of the title and Angel's own brand of immortality gives readers something to think about in terms of the Buffy/Angel relationship as well as an exciting story. As always with these authors, the characters ring true to my perception of them and they all have their day in the sun (so to speak). If you're a Buffy fan this is well worth the hard-cover cost.

Summary: Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes on an Immortal Vampire
Review: With most stories of the battle between good and evil what makes the story is the quality of the villain. While Veronique, the "Immortal" vampire is not on the level of The Master of Hannibal Lecter, she does create some interesting possibilities for her encounter with Buffy in this novel by Michael Golden and Nancy Holder. Empowered by her demon overlords the Triumvirate, Veronique passes from the body of one vampire to the next every time she has been dusted, picking up more information about the Slayer and her fighting style with each and every encounter. Meanwhile, Veronique and her minions are preparing for the Triumvirate to take form in this dimension at which point wackiness will ensue and eventually she will get to drink the blood of the last man on Earth. Unfortunately, Buffy Summers is a bit preoccupied at the moment since her Mom is hospitalized and has to undergo a biopsy. Of course, given the death of Buffy's mom during season five, this subplot regarding Joyce now has an additional resonance. In this story its purpose is to put the Slayer between a rock and a hard place: the world is going to an end (again) and her mother is going under the knife. Golden and Holder create a situation in which Buffy can legitimately say "no" to doing her duty.

Once again Golden and Holder have proven that their tag-team efforts at written Buffy novels set the standard for everybody else. You have to wonder if "Immortal" movie provided some inspiration for what happened to Joyce Summers this season on the series or if this is simply a case of great minds thinking alike. However, I do think they could have utilized Veronique's abilities a bit more creatively and exploited them to much greater effect. Since this novel has vampires ghoulishly robbing graves, it does have several scenes that are up there on the gross scale compared to other Buffy books. As always, the authors are concerned with exploring the depths of her characters, so that Buffy, preoccupied with thoughts of her mother's mortality cannot stop thinking about how time and death are relatively meaningless concepts to Angel. The Buffy/Joyce relationship comes across nicely in this story. Golden and Holder also continue to explore the past, both in terms of previous Slayers (two of whom appear in the book) and Angel B.B. (Before Buffy). "Immortal" is another first-rate Buffy novel from two writers who fully understand the Buffy mythos.

Summary: Eternal vs. Immortal
Review: OK. So you have your average vampires but along comes Veronique. Veronique is not just your ordinary vampire. Veronique is Immortal. Immortal in the sense of when Mr. Pointy strikes home on Veronique and shes up the next night. Just not in the same body. Veronique worships these demons and in return she earns a certain Immortality. The ability to reincarnate when she is killed. Her mission: To bring her masters to our world and drink the blood of the last man on Earth. Buffy isn't exactly thrilled. I liked this book because it was something different. Usually there are these vamps that are just tough but Veronique can't be defeated.

Summary: A well-done abridgement of a Buffy novel
Review: I enjoyed this audiobook on the level of mere fun, "brain candy," for lack of a better way of putting it. I'm quite impressed with Charisma Carpenter's ability to capture the cadence and tones of nearly all the characters, with the exception of the absolute slaughter she has done of Giles' British Accent, and her sometimes mispronounced words (then again, I could be wrong, I was raised British and the difference between British English and American English is quite vast at times).

The story is pretty neat, and given a sub-plot of Buffy's mom being really ill in what would be around 3rd Season in the show, it's a nice foreshadow to the eventual plot conclusion of Joyce's character from the series. The notion of an immortal vampire who keeps popping into a new vampire body when her previous one is dusted is pretty nifty. The ritual and the villains Veronique (this immortal vampire) is trying to conjure are quite well crafted. Done well, overall!

'Nathan
