Rating: Summary: At the best, Okay... Review: This book was...in one word...disappointing. After the long awaited release of "A" Buffy book, I was extremely excited to see this one in my local Barnes & Noble. Directly when I got home, I started reading it. Almost all Buffy books start out with some history, and a droning explanation of the plot to come, so when I started Obsidian Fate, I thought that after I got past the first three chapters, I would get to some exciting action. However, not to add upon the fact that the chapters were way too long for the ideas put into them (ten different settings and people in ONE chapter, what English teacher did you have Gallagher?), it did not get more exciting until the last three, maybe four chapters. Gallagher got all the characters wrong. Willow was too much of a ditz, Cordelia was too involved in Buffy's and the Slayerettes' lives, Giles was just not Giles (I cant explain it), and Angel was definitely too involved. If you've noticed, Gallagher, Angel (even in the middle of the third season) has not even been in a quarter of the episodes. I read most books in two to three days. This one took me 3 weeks to finish, because I was so uninterested. Yeah, and another thing: Buffy and Giles are not that oblivious! Someone that is so sweet and innocent, then suddenly starts acting seductive and snippy, right after an Aztec god that's looking for slaves he can control is just set free, um DUH!!! Who do you think it is? Jeez, Gallagher, we know you were just trying to give some suspense value, but you ended up giving us the Teletubbies with an Aztec god. All and all? Beginning (as in, from page 1-250) weak. Gets a 1, Middles/end gets a 3, And ending gets a zerio because of the utter corniness (for lack of a better word) of it. Complete waste of time. Dont even bother. And for the publishing company: Dont hier Gallagher...

Rating: Summary: Obsidian Fate Review: This is an excellent book. I would definetly recomend it to other people. The only thing is that you should watch the show before reading the book so that you know what's going on. I rate it with 4 stars because, like I said, it's a great book but you should really watch the show first.
Rating: Summary: I Really LIKED This Book =) Review: Well, after reading some of the negative reviews of this book I was worried about starting it. Now I can see that different appeals to some and not to others. I have read every Buffy novel, and I'm long past being a "young adult" and I found this book really enjoyable. The action was great and very well detailed with your imagination it was easy to visualize. The plot was very imaginative. Overall one of the better Buffy books. I'd also recommend the Gatekeeper Trilogy, Child of the Hunt, Visitors, Natural Selection and any of the Golden or Holder novels.
Rating: Summary: Obsidian Fraud Review: Well, ya can't please everyone. Although I really enjoyed Ms. Gallagher's writing style, I thought the content of this book to be lacking. The plot is slow to develop, a few of the characters, particularly Dem, hard to believe. Angel's in there somewhere, throughout the first 200 pages and were not sure what's happening with him until very late. Buffy climbs a rock tower looking for something that isn't there. Gee. Wish I'd seen the movie.
Rating: Summary: Could have been *much* better. Review: What was *up* with the characters?! 'Cause, you know, those aren't the ones I watch every week. The ending was...interesting...but incredibly lame. Just like everybody else is saying - Holder and Golden do the best job of any Buffy series writer - read their stuff, they know what they're talking about.
Rating: Summary: and darkness falls forever . . . . Review: When a history teacher disappears from a 500 year old Spanish archaeological site along with an obsidian Aztec mirror, police suspect theft. After Buffy is attacked by a black jaguar, Giles begins investigating and soon realizes that the artifact may be the smoking mirror that once belonged to Tezcatlipoca, the Aztec god of darkness. Using the mirror to manipulate individual fate and enlist human help, Tezcatlipoca schemes to regain his power, which will culminate in creating perpetual night. Within the walls of his massive Aztec temple, the Slayer and her friends reject the destinies the ancient god foresees for them and fight a desperate battle to save the sun and defeat the powerful forces of darkness
Rating: Summary: Another great Buffy book Review: When I bought this book from the bookstore, I thought it was just another good book about the Slayer. I learned quickly that books aren't always what they seem after reading Obsidian Fate. The relationship with Buffy and Angel was dipicted in a way that I could have never thought posible. She really expressed what I wanted to see happen with their on/off relationship. The plot of the book kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. Aztec ruins, a magick mirror, having the Scooby gang get captured, all of it was really thrilling. And seeing Oz and Willow's relationship grwo though it all was amazing. I hope she will continue to write Buffy books.
Rating: Summary: A So-So Scoobie Tale Review: While the author generally has a good hold of the voices of the characters, and some of the dialogue made me smile, this novel is not one of the best. The problem comes in the plot. It's quite dull. The developement is mostly logical, but threat is not always intriguing. The plot made me want to give up on the book, but the dialogue made me want to continue reading. I expect this author could do much better with a different topic.
