Summary: Premiere book in the Buffy Series: off to a great start
Review: I was in a bookstore one day in the young adult section when I noticed it. 'The Harvest'. And there they all were, on the cover-Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles and even (ick) Cordelia. So I bought it, exstaticly. The book is well written (it's by the same author who wrote the movie novelization of Buffy) but considering it's just a novelization of the two-parter premier, she won't really get any points for originality. I enjoyed it completely though, and if you love 'Buffy', pick up this book NOW.

Summary: Really cool!!!!!
Review: I, before I read this, was already a Richie Tankersley Cusick fan. I love her books. And not to mention the fact that I'm a big fan of the show Buffy. And even though this was basically a script taken from the opening two-part episodes "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "The Harvest", it was really neat. You explored more into what the characters were really thinking at that particular time. I really enjoyed this read.

Summary: The pilot episode of Buffy in downloadable form
Review: If you are going to download "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" books you might as well start with the first one. "The Harvest" is a novelization by Richie Tankersley Cusick of the two-part pilot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer written by series creator JossWhedon. Buffy Summers arrives in Sunnydale and discovers not only a new Watcher and new friends, but a Master Vampire just begging to be slayed. The first ten chapters of the novel cover Episode 1 "Welcome to the Hellmouth," with the rest of the book covering Episode 2, "The Harvest," which is just fine since it really is just one giant story.

Since Cusick's did the novelization of the original Buffy film he is obviously the ideal writer for this initial Buffy television book and he does an adequate job. If you read the film novelization it is fascinating to see how the Buffy idea was revamped for the television series. In addition to toning down the film's campy style, Buffy is given a much better supporting cast with the Scooby gang, an elegant counterpoint with Giles the new Watcher, and a vampire with a soul for the character twist that would give the show its greatest pathos. The various chronicles collected under the names of the characters (Angel, Xander, Willow and Faith) continue to provide novelizations of the show's episodes, these chronicles are neither chronologically organized nor complete. However, they can be rather useful in filling in the gaps in your viewing record of the hit show that is no longer on the WB (who would have imagined it would last this long?).

Summary: If you like the show, buy the books
Review: If you're home every single Tuesday night with your tv tuned to the WB network, then I think you'll enjoy this whole series of books. They effectively capture the spirit of the show, and if you're like me you'll need something like this to see you through the summer re-run season. If you're not a fan of the show, however, I'd look elsewhere for a good read since there are a lot of "inside jokes" you probably won't get.

Summary: Pure Joss
Review: It takes about an hour to read this book, which isn't any great feat giving it's a straight up rendition of the show's pilot. It was good, mindless fun.

The dialogue is pure Joss. The novelization comes in the description of the actions, some of the backstory and in how the writer describes the characters.

Summary: It was very good
Review: Not really much to say about this book, other than it makes a wonderful additon to your library if you like 'Buffy'. Personally, it's been so long since 'The Harvest' aired that I found the book really useful in helping me remember what happened in the pilot episode. Also, it's a good source for quotes and analyzing 'special' moments in the story of Buffy. I'd recommend buying it to anyone who is really into Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's basically a teleplay of the origanal episode, but since the show's so great, it really doesn't matter.

Summary: I thought it was pretty intresting
Review: The book is descirbed in the best ways of an author could descirbe in it. Its got great charcateristics, a good way to visual it so that you can see it in your mind. Its also got some good action that you could tell that it was going on. Once I saw it on TV, I liked it and from then too now andI haven't missed a single one. The series is the based on the book. I had walked into the library and I seen the book, and the next thing that had happen is that it came home with me. Once I started to read the book I could not put it down. Since then I have been reading every-single book that comes out on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Summary: Good book, but an exact copy of the episode!!!
Review: The book, good enough. But, having watched the episode on T.V. a while before, I thought it was just a copy of the television show.

Summary: A great introduction!
Review: The first novel based on the WB series introduces you to the characters. It's an exact copy of the pilot episode were Buffy comes to Sunnydale and meets Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Giles and Angel as they learn more about The Master and his harvest plans. This is an excellent book for all who missed the pilot, but also for those who watched it, it's still a good read. I gave it 4 stars. It lost 1 star due to the fact that it's an exact copy.
