Summary: Overall, a good read.
Review: It's a very interesting book. Some readers will be upset by depictions of graphic violence and the like, but that should be expected, a big part of Vampire is that their society is very violent and the Kindred risk death just by waking up every night. My biggest problem with it was the ungodly amout of typos and grammatical errors. At least one on most pages. Another slight problem is the unresolved plot threads. For "a series in which each book will stand alone, but tie into the larger story presented in all 13 novels," this left a LOT of loose ends that just wouldn't be acceptable in a stand-alone novel. So many, that my rating would be 2 stars, but I'm guessing that the plots will be resolved in future clan novels. One of the most interesting subplots in this novel involves the Toreador Primogen of Atlanta, Victoria Ash, inviting a Brujah Archon (who's black) and the Malkavian Prince of Atlanta to the same party. The catch is that the Prince was a confederate soldier in the Civil War. This could have led to some very interesting scenes, but, unfortunately, it is too underplayed.

Summary: Yuck.
Review: Poorly written erotica, including a scene of deadly penis flagellation, and lots and lots of annoying expository text are what Vampire fans have to look forward to in the first of the thirteen clan novel series. If you want to experience this novel without actually paying five bucks, flare your nostrils, pick up a screwdriver and stab at your brain until you no longer have any cognative abilities. Congratulations!

Summary: One of the hardest books to get through...
Review: that I have ever read.

I would have to agree with a few select reviewers on this book. It was very hard to get through. Character development was absolutely horrible. I couldn't connect with anyone in the book.

I gave it two stars because it sets the scene for the following book. Not character wise, but locationally (locationality?). It gives you the hierarchy system.

But as a roleplayer I know that they could have done much better. Especially after reading the clan books they put out for the game. My opinion is simply that they should have stuck to short stories perhaps, those aren't bad.

I don't recommend this book unless you are interested in reading through the entire series. Because I know a few people that just wanted to read them for thier prefered clans (I'm a Gangrel fan myself).

The rest of the books are worth reading, they get smoother and more interesting as you go down the line. This one just wasn't really worth my time.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Weak and over advertised.
Review: The story in and of itself is somewhat interesting, yet it's nothing to really look forward to. It's fairly basic, showing most of what Kindred do, not just Toreador. The other downside of the book, is the length. It's so short that nothing really goes into much depth, and you get a little overview of everything, but never get into anything. It's a good book if you're bored and have nothing else to do.

Summary: Deader than a staked vampire.
Review: There is only one word I have to describe this book...boring. It was slow right from the beginning. Every single character in the book is 2 dimensional and under developed. The author had a concept when he wrote this book and the concept was sterotype. There is so little development in both story and characters that it staggers the mind. I am hoping that the second book will be much better. Most rpg adaptaions are not very good, and this author didn't want to break that tradition it seems. A pity as the Toreador are a very interesting clan. If you are a die hard vampire fan then give it a read, if not pick up something else.

Summary: Great Insite to the tips of Truth
Review: This is a great novel It is the closest thing to the truth that the media has come out with yet. The novel is a must have for anyone intrested in vampires

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good story, but it is No mastepiece!
Review: Well it was a good story. The characters were interesting. Is it a literary novel, no, but it is entertaining. Not many literary devices were found in this book.

However I believe many people will be pleasently surprised on Justin Achilli's efforts on a future novel in this series. I believe his writting talent will shine, because he did a spectacular job on Clanbook: Giovanni.

The Sage

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Slow Start, but I think it gets better down the road.
Review: Well, I am a bit disappointed on how the Clan Toreador just comes out as completely weak. I could have sworn that white wolf clan book claimed the clan to be potentially the most dangerous clan of them all. However and on the bright side, the series does start with a very interesting plot, the book does not completely focus on the clan Toreador. Probably because the author wishes to introduce the series. I have read till Setite before I wrote the reviews, I think the book is good over all.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Getting through it is required...
Review: Well, quite frankly, this novel wasn't very readable. It does its job of setting up the rest of the series adequately. That's about it. The other novels in the series are all superior to this one. One just had to set everything up, and this one drew the short stick. You have to read this one in order to understand the series of events, though, so this is a must read if you want to read the rest. Just get through it, and I promise the rest of the series picks up tremendously.

Summary: If you play V:TM, this book will hit home!
Review: Well, so far I've only read the excerpt of the book on White-Wolf.com's homepage, but if you're a fan of Vampire: The Masquerade, or have ever played the game in any form, you'll find this book interesting and right on target. The character's, settings and interaction plays right out of V:TM and I look forward to the next twelve to come. I can't wait for Clan Ravnos. =)
