Rating: Summary: Steven King still has it! Review: when i received this book i opened the cover and saw the screenplay format. i wasnt sure about it at first but it turns out that i found it easier to read and follow. let me say you better have some free time on your hands because this one grabs hold and wont let go! it never really seems to slow down. the feeling of helplessness is the most gripping part of the book i thought. the ending isnt as good as the rest of the book but still good. i enjoyed this book alot!
Rating: Summary: WE want to read a NOVELIZATION ! Review: I want to read a NOVELIZATION ! Because, Screenplay is not translated in Japan. But, this story is appears a NOVEL over the recent King's novels. I love this story very much !
Rating: Summary: Stephen King at his best! Review: Storm of the Century was fantastic! Love the person who played Linoge..great actor. All my praise and admiration for the MAN STEPHEN KING!Can't wait to see Desperation as a movie!
Rating: Summary: Worth a sleepless night Review: I have never waited so long to read a book in my life - this took 6 weeks to arrive and was read in one night. Unlike the Green Mile where the ending is pretty much conclusive the twists and turns in Storm of the Century are fantastic. Linoge appears out of nowhere, a modern day cross between a devil, a magician and a vampire. His business is brutal, building up to a tense, heart thumping finale which is totally unexpected. I felt total horror and loved every minute. I hope the film does not take as long to reach the UK.
Rating: Summary: One of King's best. Review: This was in the finest King tradition. It was suspenseful to the end. The master continues to write like no other. When you see how he keeps the towns folk confused and guessing until it is too late for them to do anything other than what he wants. The ending with the child's reaction to his father was pure King.
Rating: Summary: Storm of the Century Review: Both the series and the book were great. The ending had a great twist. Heart wrenching is more like it.
Rating: Summary: Standard for King: good beginning, but doesn't hold up Review: There comes a time, it seems, during any book when Stephen King sits back from the keyboard and thinks to himself: "Great, but where the hell does it go from here?" And there lies the problem with Storm, as with most of his books. Setup, great. Characters.. good. Dialogue, good (most of the time). Villain, excellent. But he writes himself into a corner half the time; he seems to be making up the plot as he goes along. "Storm" has a great setup and the suspense along the way is handled wonderfully. Then the big moment comes, we find out what Linoge wants.. and we think "What? That's it? After all that..?" this plot could conceivably have been done as a non-horror story, and possibly turned out better. Instead it seems forced into the general-horror pattern by having several people unnecessarily killed. Why?
Rating: Summary: Have you been caught in the storm? Review: The Storm of the Century is the first time a story written by Stephen King has ever appeared in this format. The style is that of a screenplay, but the description is so vivid and so visual, after a while you don't even notice the different style with which it is being written. Storm is very in-deep with regards to the story and the characters within it. A brutal snow storm cuts off Little Tall Island from the rest of the world. But, right when the Storm hits, a mysterious stranger named Andre Linoge appears, and begin to wreak havoc in the peaceful community on Little Tall. Starting with the murder of one of the island's oldest residents, Martha Clarington, Linoge allows himself to be arrested by the island sheriff, Micheal Anderson. Linoge is moved to the makeshift, home welded jail cell in the back of the grocery market on Little Tall, and terrorizes the residents. He can see their deepest secrets, and begins to shout them up in open public. Once, Anderson secures Linoge in the cell, Linoge seems to lose it. He sits perfectly still, with his legs apart. A faint chanting leaving his lips. Murder becomes a more and more common occurence the longer that Linoge is present on the Island, and the cryptic message, "Give me what I want, and I'll go away", keeps appearing. Linoge wants a child as his apprentice. Another work of mastery from the famous Stephen King. I again, can do nothing give it my highest praise and recommendations, well worth your time.
