Rating: Summary: Magnificent ! King has done it once again Review: After reading the book, I could'nt wait to watch the series. Rating: Summary: The deception of a novel Review: What I thought would be an interesting novel turned out to be a screen play. Needless to say I was angry. The book is not clearly marked as a screen play and the price doesn't warrent its content. This is not a reflection on the story, I just think that the book should be better labeled.
Rating: Summary: One of King's most powerful stories. Review: I got this screenplay when it hit the stands and finished reading it less than 48 hours later. I was mesmerized, but I wanted to wait on this review until I saw how the movie would turn out, and I must say, its easily his best movie. It took me a little while to get into the screenplay form, but after a few pages, I was hooked. As usual, King knows how to disturb people. First, the thought of someone appearing and knowing your deepest secrets is very scary, and he's done that one before. As a parent, though, the ending of this book affected me like nothing else. It stayed with me for days after I finished it, and thinking about the ending still bothers me. Also, I've had that "little teapot" song stuck in my head for 2 weeks now. I don't know if its my alltime King favorite (I think The Mist still holds that one), but its very close.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed with what he wanted Review: I appreciate the necessity of community-wide idiocy of Little Tall Island's citizens. Without that, there'd be no story. Lots of blood without gore is also a nice touch and a Stephen King movie hallmark. Art-blood, if you will. All through the story, the wind is howling and "blowing houses down." We get the wolf motif the 1st night Linoge bears his fangs; then on night 2 we are told of Biblical Legion's invasion of the pigs ... on night 3 I waited for Linoge, faithful to the fairy-tale version, to finally tell people what he wanted them to give him so he could go away: THREE LITTLE PIGS. I was disappointed not to have a legitimate reason to laugh out loud and felt a bit guilty having laughed illegitimately the whole way through. Entertainment at its finest!
Rating: Summary: One of his best works Review: I found this to be one of Stephen King's best works yet. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout every page. I found myself staying up all hours, not wanting to put it down. Truly spellbinding. The T.V. movie is living up to Stephen King's reputation for scare tactics.
Rating: Summary: What a ride... Review: I have never had the fantastic experience of reading a fabulous screen play and then see it come to life. Scared me to death...twice!
Rating: Summary: Very thrilling, an edge-of-your seat movie and book! Review: They made a movie on the book (the ending is shocking!) and that is what I saw on ABC and that was good so I went and checked out the book and it was just as good as the book! I recomend EVERYBODY who likes suspence to read it!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining King piece Review: In the winter of 1989, a nasty storm swept through the Northeast. Its destructive path left many pundits to claim that was THE STORM OF THE CENTURY. To the residents of Maine's Little Tall Island, the storm was extremely powerful, but paled next to the evil essence that accompanied the nasty weather. Andre Limoge seems very human when he first arrives on the island. However, anyone who sees his fangs and theunnatural red shine of his eyes knows otherwise. Temporarily cut off from the mainland by the storm, the islanders gradually realize they are dealing with a malevolent being who gleefully uses his supernatural powers to cause havoc. Limoge vows to leave the island once he obtains what he wants. However, if they fail to give in To his "request", he threatens to destroy every living person on the island. His desire leaves the people horrified that they must honor his Faustian bargain if they are to survive his visit. Only one person of the two-hundred residents says no and this individual stands to lose more than just his life. STORM OF THE CENTURY is Stephen King's screenplay of his made for TV movie and is quite entertaining and well written in of itself. The book provides the stage directions, the physical descriptions of the storm, the island, and its residents, and the frightening plot. Additionally, the screenplay provides readers with an insider's glimpse at how an idea can be transferred from the written page to the TV screen. Mr. King shows his versatility with this fun read.
