Rating: Summary: Worth Adding to Anyone's Vampire Collection Review: I have a signed paperback copy of Freda Warrington's first book in the trilogy, 'Taste of Blood Wine' and have also read the second 'A Dance in Blood Velvet' and the third, 'The Dark Blood of Poppies'. All three titles present a new viewpoint to the genre. The beautiful vampire characters are all extremely vivid, individual and 'believable'. The Dark Blood of Poppies mainly centres around Sebastian and Violette, both vampires which appear to have a different and separate destiny, but a wonderful twist in the end makes everything 'fall' into place. The previous vampire characters are all there - Karl, Charlotte, Kristian, The Twins - Niklas and Stefan, Pierre and the illustrious Illona - plus many other new creatures. The setting also adds to the feel of the story. I have read each at least five times ! If anyone collects vampire fiction, these are the one's to sit next to Anne Rice in your bookshelf. Freda, Let's have a fourth please !

Rating: Summary: If you only ever read one book .....make it this one. Review: I have read very few books at which I can say changed my life, but 'The Dark Blood of Poppies' is one of them. It opened my eyes to a world of erotic intrigue and how mortals perceive immortality. Freda Warrington's style of writing draws the reader in from the first page and this book is drenched with glamour, horror, lust and mystery. The story is the third in a trilogy which follows the lives of two Vampires, Charlotte and her lover and creator Karl. Although set during the early part of this century the themes and emotions that this book deals with are still relevant today, making this trilogy the finest in print today and utterly unmissable.

Rating: Summary: one of the best books I have ever read!! Review: I must say I would never have thought of reading a vampire book, this was one I picked up whilst on holiday, didn't fancy it, but tthe alternative was worse. My Goodness, what a book, could not put it down, absolutly great. I went out and purchased the second book the Dance in Blood Velvet, and finally bought the third from Amazon out of prints, Blood Poppies, all amazing reads, as they say "Dont knock it till you've tried it", you will NOT be dissapointed, come on publishers do a re-print. Personally I want to purchase all three again, as mine have done the rounds and friends alike wish to purchase them. I could definelty re-read these books, What an imagination, and guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Well done Freda Warrington.

Rating: Summary: A thought provoking book about the nature of love. Review: The Dark Blood of Poppies is the third of Britains answer to Anne Rice's Vampire Sequence. The first two, A taste of Blood Wine and A Dance in Blood Velvet, introduced us to the characters of Charlotte and Karl. Brillant and thought provoking they make us question the nature of love and immortality while engageing and entertaining the reader. I can also recommend Warringtons novel The Dark Cathedral and its follow up Pagan Moon. It's not very often that you use the word life altering about books but these two totally changed my out look on life and view on Paganism.
Rating: Summary: WARRINGTON OUT-RICES ANNE RICE! Review: THE DARK BLOOD OF POPPIES, Freda Warrington's third novel in her Vampyre trilogy, is an excellent blend of horror, humor, 1920's period history and fantasy. Reminiscent of Anne Rice's VAMPIRE CHRONICLES, Warrington does the concept better by introducing new elements, such as The Crystal Ring, a method of astral travel used by her Vampyres. She beings in the ancient Vampyre Mother Lilith and introduces the concept of an impending Armageddon in the Vampyre world, a la White Wolf's roleplaying game, VAMPIRE: THE MAS- QUERADE. But Warrington's work rises far, far above Rice and White Wolf. Now that I've read the third novel, I have to go back and locate the first two! Highly, highly recommended! Unfortuna- tely, available only in Great Britain(I obtained my copy by e-mailing the author, who sent me a complimentary, inscribed copy!)at the moment.Let's hope an American publioshed snaps up the trilogy "real soon now!" Sweet nightmares...and remember STAY OUT OF THE DAYLIGHT!
