Rating: Summary: Good Idea - book too long Review: The idea is very good. But 80 to 100 pages would have been enough. I usually adore Koontz's novels, but this one just gets boring. Sometimes less is more.
Rating: Summary: Big brother, mysticism,God complex.... Review: I liked this book very much because it included many elements that gives one food for thought. It's similar to When Harley was one. And has a lot to do with 2001: A space odissey. A computer can be very powerful if it becomes self-conscious.If it develops a personality. If a computer like the one described in the book were ever allowed to exist I think it would threaten the human species. I enjoyed reading this book because it made me think about a lot of different things.
Rating: Summary: Not a normal Koontz novel... Review: What can I say? Koontz is normally one of my favorite authors, but this book...just wasn't up to par, even after the rewrite. In fact I feel the only reason he rewrote it was to through in some current names (such as Winona Ryder and Deep Blue) and to mention the internet. The plot was weak, but not as weak as the characters. The computer (who told the story) just babbled. I could cut half the words out of the novel and still not lose the story. The other two characters in the story were not developed. I could tell that this was one of Koontz's early works, I'm just surprised it got published (twice). The only plus this story had were the themes of male attitude towards women. Now this would make a good book to analyze for an english class, but not a whole lot of enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: Not worth your time. Review: This was my first Koontz book and I found it very disappointing. Given what I have heard about Koontz, I expected a great deal more. I will probably try one more novel to see if this was a fluke.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Change Koontz Review: I think that this was a very interesting change to Koontz usual style of work. I am an avid reader of Koontz books and I think him one of the Best Authors of the 20th century!! Although this wasnt one of his best books i recommend that you read it for the shear delight of his unique style. I enjoyed reading this as much as I did any other books by him!! YOUR THE BEST KOONTZ!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Demon Seed was pretty good, But the ending Sucked Review: This was my first Koontz Book, and I liked the story, but I was very dissapointed with the ending. Dean could have done so many things with the ending. I'll try one more Koontz book before I give up on Him!! --Dave
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time! Review: Excluding the violence and profanity, this is on the reading level of a third grader. I was very disappointed in this book as Dean Koontz has become one of my favorite authors over the years. I kept reading, hoping that it would get better, but it never did. Don't waste your time with this book unless you are looking for something that basically has no plot.
Rating: Summary: Everything you need Review: This book has everything: action, horror, murder, love (although unorthodox), and quick, to the point prose. Koontz does a great job making a great story that could have taken many many pages and condensing it down to a few quick reading pages.
Rating: Summary: Implausible plot, and yet... Review: the relationship between the woman and the computer in this novel is definitely intriguing. I doubt that this could take place in the real world; however, I will be wary of technology:) Read if you can stomach stories such as DEMON SEED.
Rating: Summary: Dean Koontz gives us yet another masterpiece. Review: Dean Koontz shows us once again why he has so many bestselling novels. This time, he writes with the narrator being a home security computer, that is obsessed with his beautiful owner. This book gives the reader an outstanding perspective as to how a computer would envy humans for having what they have. I suggest this book to anyone who enjoys reading about computers or technology.
