Summary: READ THIS!!!
Review: This was one of the best books i've read in over a year. The british literature stuff was ok but in the book roadwork King had my attention the entire time i was reading. I like everything in the book itself. Examples are the way the author descibes feelings and emotions, you can also picture what is happening as the plot thickens. This was one of the best books i've read and i look forward to reading more books by Stephen King!

Summary: SOMETIMES LESS IS MORE
Review: YES I AGREE THAT THIS IS MORE LOW-KEY THAN MOST OF KING'S WORK, BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. TRULY A CHARACTER STUDY, IN MANY WAYS I FOUND IT SIMILAR TO THE FILM 'ORDINARY PEOPLE' IN THAT IT IS ABOUT A MAN WHO IS SLOWLY COMING APART. THE WRITING STYLE IS AS INTENSE AS EVER, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL INTERESTING CHARACTERS IN IT APART FROM THE PROTAGONIST, BART DAWES. OVERALL, I THINK IT IS A MEDITATION ON DEATH AND WHAT IT MAY MEAN, BUT BELIVE THIS STORY ALSO EXPLORES OTHER THEMES SUCH AS LOSS, LOVE, DISAPPOINTMENT AND EVEN A STUDY ON OUR MOSTLY HOMOGINISED, LOW-RISK, SOMETIMES EMPTY-SEEMING SURBURBAN WAY OF LIFE IN THE LOUDLY LAUDED WESTERN WORLD. A SUPERIOR NOVELLA, RIGHT UP THERE WITH BOTH THE LONG WALK AND APT PUPIL. FROM A READER BASED NEAR THOSE GREEN PACIFIC WATERS MENTIONED IN ROADWORK.

Summary: A Great Story For Times When You Hate The World
Review: --This story is something you can relate to when you are having some bad times or when you want to speak your mind and everyone knows you are right but won't listen because it is not the "norm". It easy to relate to because you hate some things and you can't control them and you want to blow everything up and take your stand. Great book!!

Summary: Progress drives man insane, film at 11:00
Review: A freeway extension is coming through town and causes our main character to lose his house, his job and his mind. Like other King-as-Bachman books it has the feel of a short story which has been stuffed with repetitive content to make it novel length. Also, like other Bachman books the plot (what plot there is) is predictable. Somewhat of an interesting read nonetheless but not a great work.

Summary: A Piece of Americana
Review: A good read!!! Although this Bachman novel doesn't explain itself very well, I can't help but think that King has hit the nail on the head about '90's America (despite the time in which he wrote it). Anyone frustrated at their job or ticked off at authority knows this feeling all too well. Fortunately most people only read books like this instead of taking the kind of action in it.

Summary: Kings BEST!!
Review: First of all I'm 14 not 12 like it says above this review. Second this is an awesome novel.King blows my mind with this book. Its bleak and depressing but man is it an eye opener to society, and the ordinary working man in general. And I for one would not compare this to the movie Falling Down.More like Taxi Driver meets Falling Down.If you want a total mind trip read this while listening to The Doors Greatest Hits, doing this even emphasizes the craziness of the book.I would reccomend this novel to anyone who likes a story with a moral and does not care in what way the moral is presented, and does not offend easily.I think this is Kings best novel and I think he should edge away from the horror genre and do more intelligent books such as this. Anyway hope my review helped

Summary: Not his best work but still an enjoyable read!
Review: Having recently read the novel i can give an honest account! I am an avid Stephen King reader, even if this is by Bachman, i still found it a little bit of a struggle to perceiver with this one. It is slow, and a bit boring! But still, dispite this King is a great Author and this should not put you of his work! Certain areas of the book are great but the ending was too predictable for my liking!

Summary: Mixed feelings
Review: I had mixed feeling while reading this piece. It was incredibly depressing and compelling at the same time. King's use of allusion and metaphor were sublime and kept me reading when I would have put the book down in despair for the main character. But it was MEANT to be depressing, not horrifying, and it succeeds beautifully.

One of my favorite lines in the book was when he compared the word inoperable to tasting "rotten and juicy at the same time, like bad hamburger cooked rare". And when he referred to the antennas on the tops of the buildings to "Frightened hairs." That is absolutely brilliant writing. The whole book is like this; vivid and disturbing and completely articulate.

Summary: Not King's Best Work
Review: I have read several Stephen King books, and I have become very fond of his work. Roadwork is written by King's alternate personality, Richard Bachman. This is the first book that I've read when King is writing as Bachman, and I'm niether impressed nor disappointed. "Roadwork" is about one man's struggle with life. He's broke, falling out of love, and miserable. When he finds out he has to move due to the construction of a highway, he gets...well...pissed off. This is a novel about retribution, and a vindictive middle aged man. It's very non-King, perhaps this is because he was writing as Richard Bachman. The book interested me, because it was one man, planning one act of revenge. It's definitely one of the more intriguing plots I've seen, but it was a little too shallow.

Summary: I read this entire book , and I don't know what is about.
Review: I read this book all the way through. And by the end I was still confused. I know he goes crazy and starts a shoot out. But what the hell? Can someone explain to me?
