Rating: Summary: First-rate horror from a master of chills... Review: Some house's should never be allowed to exist.Valhalla is one of them. Craig Bellman discovers Valhalla and becomes obsessed with the house and it's history, which is legandary and particularly gruesome. Jack Belias was a terror; he was a notorious gambler and a womanizer. Eevry owner of the house has met with an untimely demise, something Craig's wife, Effie has not bought hook, line, and sinker. Craig becomes a little too obsessed until it is too late. Masterton is a wordsmith who knows how to write and scare with a deft touch. He is a master at making one visualize his particular vision and I am glad he has signed on with Leisure and their Horror Book Club.
Rating: Summary: a good horror book with teeth Review: This book is a good book from the master(ton) of
horror. All the element that we search in this
kind of book are there. All fan of Koon or King
shoud read this book because its really more
scary then any books from this author. In other
case, this one is not the better book that Graham
had wrote. Sometime this book seem to be a pale
copy of one of his other book call Apparition.
This last one is far better. Be sure to read other
book from this author like Master of lies & House
of chair.
Rating: Summary: Engaging, horrifying read. Possibly the best haunted house! Review: This haunted house story rivals the greats i.e. The Shining. The story is gripping from the start with characters that are real as life itself. The story keeps pace consistently through the entire book and unveils the secret of the story in a horrifying and suspensful manner. This has to be in my top 10 of favorite horror novels ever. Don't pass it up. Masterton did a superb job of capturing all aspects of this haunted house story.
Rating: Summary: A good read, but mind boggling.... Review: This was a strange book, being able to go to another time. I thought it was something totaly different than this. I don't want to say too much to spoil it for you. If your a MASTERton fan, then buy this book.
Rating: Summary: THRILLING Review: This work delivers in Traditional Masterton fashion. The Spirit world, the great first person direct narrative, and the smack in the face scare that only Masterton can Craft. If you loved any of Masterton's great works like THE MANITOU, THE WELLS OF HELL, and THE DEVILS OF D DAY, you will definitely like This piece. A ticket to thrills and the other side. Masterton always treads a fine line between this world and the next, and my view has been that his first person narrative technique has been the best way to convey the style of chills that only Masterton can Deliver. I am not totally surprised by a run of negative reviews for this work, since elitist Horror/-Supernatural Thiller fiction afficionados will seemingly always pan Masterton's work. Read for what it is, a great fun ride. I have never read a Masterton Horror title that let me down. His work is just great. In fact, the core horror material like this title continues to deliver. I had thought that for a long time, Masterton was left out as an author being translated to film, but it seems that many films either lift Masterton's plots/Stories or Masterton may be writing under a pseudonym. More power to him... This Book plus one other in Masterton's catalogue are brilliant Haunted House stories. This book is worth every penny, and the thrills and chills are just great.
Rating: Summary: One to read. Review: Typical Masterton, from the first page you are into the story and you are hooked. I have read Masterton for over 20 years and although it makes you squirm with the usual graphic detail, the story has a very spooky feel about it and keeps you guessing right until the end. To sum up how good it is my partner who vowed never to read such a book, could not put it down and now like myself, is a Masterton fanatic. I am looking to purchase Masterton H/B books please email me.
