Rating: Summary: Not comparable with Stephen King Review: I disagree that this novel is similar to Stephen King's writing. Tananarive Due produces more sophisticated work. I first read this book when I borrowed it from the library. Now I have to get the hardcover version. I also read 'My Soul to Keep' and am now on 'The Living Blood', the latter of which I own in hc.
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!! Review: I do not enjoy reading at all, but about 2 years ago I stopped and read this book. It was AWESOME!! It cought my attention and wouldn't let me put it down. It's a great book for anyone who enjoys SUSPENSE!! It's plot will put you at the edge of your seat. It is also something that is never boring and the end will TOTALLY shock you!! Or at least it did me.
Rating: Summary: Wow!! Captivating from cover to cover. Review: I literally couldn't put it down. I read it on the recommendation of a friend. After this, they've become a very good literary friend. If author Due has any more, give them to me... I want more!!
Rating: Summary: My Soul to Keep is her best work Review: I read "MY Soul to Keep" first even though it was her second novel. Ms. Due is "Mad" talented with true literary skills. That can't be taken from her, but I didn't like this book as much it left me feeling a little empty.
Rating: Summary: It had its moments Review: I read Ms. Due's first book "My Soul to Keep" and was completely swept away. I suppose I "expected" the same dazzle this for the "Between". But, its never as good as the first time. It had some interesting parts, but I quickly grew tired of watching this man's life unravel. I also dreaded the entire dream sequence. Lastly, I didn't really get it.
Rating: Summary: Not quite horror... Review: I read this book in two days. I found it interesting to say the least. I don't think it was as much horror as it was a supernatural thriller. I do wish the author had pieced it together a little better than she did. What about Nana? How did they become travelers? The ending left me yearning for more about his son and daughter. All-in-all, I do feel that it was a well written first novel.
Rating: Summary: ON MY BEST BOOKS EVER LIST Review: I read this book years ago when it first came out and it is still one of my favorite all time reads. Ms. Due put herself on my map with this one. Excellent job, just excellent
Rating: Summary: Strong Debut by a Talented Writer Review: I read this one after I had read Ms. Due's second novel, My Soul to Keep, and though this one is not as good as the second, her talent is clearly evident. A solid, suspenseful read. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get a little "soul" along with their horror. People who like this kind of stuff should also check out Thunderland, by Brandon Massey. Along with Ms. Due, I think he's one of the few black writers who write horror. Definitely worth a look. Peace!
Rating: Summary: So refreshing! Review: I stumbled upon this book in a book store and have been hooked on Ms Due's work ever since. What I like about her writing is that it is NOT typical. Lately, it seems that majority of novels about blacks has the same theme:relationship drama. Ms due books are a breath of fresh air, well written and keep you on your toes. Unlike most sci-fi books I am able to follow the story line. I also enjoyed My Soul To Keep
