Rating: Summary: Ashley who is a great fan of Hahn's books Review: A Doll in the Garden is a great book! It's about a girl named Ashley and her mom who move into an apartment owned by an old, mean lady named Ms. Cooper. Ashley discovers the garden in Ms. Cooper's back yard. Ashley decides to explore the garden. When she comes out of the garden, a girl named Kristy is waiting there for her. Kristy and Ashley become good friends. When they explore the garden together, they discover an antique doll. On the top of the box that the doll was in, was the name Anna Maria. Ashley decides to take the doll to her room and keep it for herself. Mysterious and unusual things happen afterward.
Rating: Summary: A thrilling mystery. It sucked me in! Review: An amazing book. It is about two girls, and they find a beautiful doll in a garden. Then one of the girls gets sick, and the other has to find out what this crazy doll is doing, because both girls start getting flashbacks and memories from a different time. Finally the well one figures out that someone knows more than they are telling, and saves the other's life.
This was a great book. I re-read it many times! It sucked me in. I couldn't but the book down! I was amazed, stupified, overcome with pity, and finally relieved while under the magic spell it had put me in My friends and I all agree that this is a book that you should deffinately buy! I'm Kari, and I'm only 11, but I know what I like!
Rating: Summary: The best book in the world Review: Another well-crafted ghost story from Mary Downing Hahn, this book follows the adventures of Ashley, who moves into a rented appartment and starts exploring the overgrown garden. She comes across a doll, long buried, and sets out to discover why it is there, and what the mysterious cries that she hears at night are. Not a scary ghost story, it is very moving and I found myself crying at a few spaces. It might be a little cliche for an adult reader, but it is a great read for a younger reader who is interested in ghost stories.

Rating: Summary: Doll in the Garden: A Ghost Story Review: I am nine years old and this is the first Mary Downing Hahn book I have read. It is one of my favorite books written by her. The story is about a girl and her mom renting a home where an old lady lives. The girl goes in the backyard garden and finds a treasure box. Inside is an old doll....and that's where the mystery begins.

Rating: Summary: A Great Kids Book! Review: I first read this story when I was about 10 years old and fell in love with it. Everytime I went to the library, I would check it out. Now that I'm almost 19, seeing the cover picture again and reading the wonderful, vivid story once again has really brought me back to the time I was 10 and how amazing this book was to me. At any rate, it's a great book for children just starting to read discriptive, more difficult text. I would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining but forgettable Review: I love this author, and I went through a phase several years ago where I read as many of her books as I cound find. This is a good book - certainly you'll be entertained and will enjoy it - but it didn't capture my interest and imagination like some of her other works, like The Jellyfish Season and Wait Till Helen Comes did. I highly recommend those to anybody who liked this book. Something about this book, especially reading it now as an adult, is a little less real and a little more juvenile than some of her other works.
