Rating: Summary: As a book is not great, but it still is a great read Review: There's a few things I can say about this book... A- Good is in the eye of the beholder. Nor I, neither anyone who have pasted their review in here, can tell you if you're going to like it or not. Sorry fella, you'll have to read it yourself in order to know it. This just is one of those books... good is in the eye of the beholder, so behold, then judge. B- This book is not about it's story, it is about it's characters. In TickTock, you don't like or dislike the story, -although it is important, of course- what this book is focused on is on it's characters. The important is not a monster coming out of a rag doll and trying to kill Tommy Phan, The important is Tommy Phan, Del Payne, Scootie the dog, and their mothers... C- This book is anything but predictable. Believe me, if you read it you'll know what I mean. Unpredictable as hell. ..And like I said: personally I think that it is not the greatest book, but it is still one hell of a good read.
Rating: Summary: suspensful, but hilarious Review: this is the first Koontz book i have ever read. From the very first page, it had seized my heart, and i devoured it in just two days. I love del, b/c she is witty, humorous. She counteracts the horror that brought by the minikin, which shows Koontz's great prowness at writing. But some plots are not thoroughly plausible, like the alien abdution, ufo staff, and the ending is not Koontz's wise choice. Anyway, i like this book, and i recommend it to all the folks who wanna be entertained by reading a book.
Rating: Summary: Fun, Terror, Suspense. This book has it all! Review: i love this book it brought to life the true American feeling. i thought the humor was witty, hilarious, and dark all at the same time. this book was fun to read!!!
Rating: Summary: Different yet entertaining Review: I have long been a fan of Koontz because his books always seem to have an element of reality in them.Although Tick Tock is very different from his usual efforts, it is a good kind of different. So many of us have had dolls and have often wondered what would happen if they came alive and in Tick Tock that question is answered. When Tommy Phan finds himself in the position of having to save his life from a doll that metamorphises into a demon, we can see some of our childhood nightmares in that situation. But the injection of comedy vis Phan's mother and Del and Scooty makes the book a compelling read.
Rating: Summary: An ok, lighter read.... Review: Tick Tock had a little humor that i enjoy seeing in Koontz's books. I enjoyed the book but did not find it as gripping as some of his others. The fact that I did read it all the way through does say something however. I really enjoy his notes to the readers that he blesses us with in some of his books.
Rating: Summary: Here's how to combine horror and comedy! Review: This is the first book I've read by Koontz, but
others (Intensity, Dragon Tears, ...) have soon followed. He's the only author I can remember who really managed to make the characters become alive before my eyes, and inside of me looking through theirs. Who hasn't fallen in love with Del?
Rating: Summary: The First I haven't been able to finish Review: I started reading Tick Tock a few months ago. I still haven't finished it yet. In fact I haven't picked it up for over a month.
The plot is seems like a rewrite of the 70's movie "Trilogy Of Terror." A little doll goes nuts with a knife.
Koontz books usually grab my attention by page 2 or 3. Tick Tock hasn't done that yet. Right now my copy sits in the bathroom next to Reader's Digest. So if I'm particularlly constipated I may find the time to pick it up again.
Rating: Summary: How Bizarre!!! Review: This is my 1st Koontz book. After Chapter 6, the book became so bizarre, I didn't know if I wanted to continue reading it. I finished it, but was very disappointed with the conclusion. I'm not into science fiction, but if you are, this ending might just satisfy your craving
Rating: Summary: $20 is a ridiculous price for this book ! Review: This book can be found anywhere for $5
Rating: Summary: Definately not one of his better books Review: I really like Dean Koontz's work but this one was definately a big disappointment. In the beginning it seemed as though it had potential. However it kept going no where and the ending was the worst of all. His adding the supernatural and ufo abuctions came out of no where and made absoutely no sense at all. I had just finished reading Intensity which was absoutely great and then I read Tick Tock which was terrible. I really don't know what he was thinking. I hope he doesn't try going down that road again. Overall though his books are really good reading, but I guess everyone deserves one mistake
