Rating: Summary: new twist to the series Review: Jez Redfern has grown up believing that she is one of the lamia, the born vampires, only to find out that she's only half vampire. The other half is human, and if any one in the Night World found out, they'd kill her. Now living with her human mother's family, she kills those in the Night World who hunt humans. Circle Daybreak, a group that wants harmony between the Night World and humans, gives Jez a mission. They heard that Morgead, a member of the gang Jez used to be a part of, has a Wild Power, a person mentioned in prophecies about the end of the world. If Jez can't get the Wild Power to someplace safe, the world will end at the turn of the new millenium. The Night World series now has a particular direction it's going in, and it's a thrilling one to read about. Just a warning, though: as far as I know, the series never gets finished, and we never get to see what happens at the turn of the new millenium. In this book, we get to see someone walk two worlds in a different way than we're used to in this series. Jez leads a double life with her new family and with Morgead, her soulmate. I would've liked it if this book had been a little longer; everything seemed to happen so quickly, and it made me wish there were more for me to read.
Rating: Summary: Huntress Review: This book is really good. When I first saw, I didnt think that I was going to like it, but I did. Its about this girl who is a vampire hunter........Whos half vampire. But the book doesnt really stay on her being a vampire long. Its basically about her trying to find the "Wild Power".
Rating: Summary: So you joined a vampire motorbike riding gang... Review: And you find yourself half human. What do you do? That's the problem facing Jez Redfern (one of THOSE Redferns). Then there's Morgead, gorgeous and irritating (think a dark haired Ash if you've read Daughters of Darkness). This is certainly one of the more interesting of the series, but for it to make sense, you need to read at least some of the others. Together, they must prevent the end of the world (usual superhero stuff), holding off the darkness (and sometimes the light) with wit, cunning, and some very cool bikes.
Rating: Summary: excellent read Review: i found LJS characterisation in this book excellent. we are brought into a world by Jez that is so different from ours that we begin to start to believe it may be true. once jez is taken from her reality and is made to live in the 'human' world, we are brought through her struggles at becoming a human but are the same time trying to right the wrongs that she has done. the love story plot throughout the book makes the reader confused as Morgead is what Jez used to be and what she dislikes now, which makes the reader feel sympathy towards Morgead about, although also makes us mistrust and make us ask ourselves 'if he knew the truth about Jez, will he still love her?' the ending is unexpected, making the reading even more worth while an excellent read, the best out of the Night World Series
Rating: Summary: huntress Review: this book is amaising but if i saw it on a self would'nt read it ! it may look scarry but really it is not!!!!!!!! if lj smith is reading this please please please please please please please PLEASE change the cover!!
Rating: Summary: A series that just gets better! Review: By now you either love or hate this series of novels. I am firmly in the loving camp, this is the installment that sees the series develop away from the one trick pony of the soulmate principle. There is a prophecy that the human world will end in blood and violence unless 4 teenagers- Wild Powers come in on the side of good to save the day in the Millenium battle that is to come. Jez Redfern is half vampire half human, once she learns of this heritage her world falls apart and she leaves her ruthless human hunting gang and turns vampire hunter. Jez runs away and hides with her human relatives until she is called upon to infiltrate her old gang to find a wild power before they can use it for evil. Morgead now the leader of her gang is the only thing that stands in her way, they are soulmates but they stand on opposite lines of the battle. Morgead and Jez make a kick (...) couple, those who enjoyed the courtship of Quinn and Rashel in the series fifth installment The Chosen will love this as several familiar characters make cameos. The plot is well thought out and I can't wait to see how this whole Millenium battle is to develop. The book brings in more of Night World history which is much needed, until now we have had only tantalising snatches of the deadly society of supernatural creatures. We see through Jez's flashbacks to her parents how mixed relationships between humans and nightworlders are treated, and the characters' backgrounds are more rooted in reality with gangs and broken homes. You'll get caught up in this tale flicking through the pages until you finish it hungry for more, and totally blown away by who the wild power actually is. This is definitely a must read for anyone with an interest in YA supernatural fiction, this book you can read as a stand alone but be warned once you finish it you will have a burning need to buy the rest!!
Rating: Summary: A terrible secret... Review: Jez Redfern is a leader in a gang. She goes out each night challenging human gangs, and she has never lost. But one day, she finds out a secret that shatters everything she has ever known. She is half human. She flees from the Night World and goes to live with her human relatives. She joins Circle Daybreak and begins to hunt the Night World. One day she gets an assignment to rejoin her old gang because her ex-leutenant, Morgead, has proof of a Wild Power in San Francisco. The fate of the whole world is put on Jez's shoulders. There is a slight problem here. Morgead and Jez are soulmates. But what will he do? Will he turn her into the Night World authorities? Or will he too turn his back on the Night World? Morgead is unpredictable, so Jez doesn't know what to believe. I have to admit, i was just going to blow this book off, but i decided to buy it. Right now i am truly glad i did. It was, without a doubt, one of the best i have ever read.
Rating: Summary: paper thin Review: As with most of L.J.'s previous books she combined an intriguing premise, facinating plot, and paper thin characters to produce another enjoyable but extremely biased novel. Overall it was a great read, but I found the extreme reversal of characters sides and motive to be stereotypical. L. J. sticks closely to her previous form of "good guys" v.s "bad guys" and the sudden side reversal of said "bad guys" to "Good guys." And as usual the suddenchange of heart is brought on by the "Bad guy" falling in love the "good guy" and they both runoff to join the infamous "damned daybreakers."
Rating: Summary: My review of Huntress Review: L.J. Smith's book "Huntress" was one of her best. Jess Redfern is a vampire who hunts humans; until she discovers she's half human. Then she begins to kill vampires to protect humans. There's lots of action and romance. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys horror, because LJ. Smith is the master of horror/romance novels. I can't wait for Strange Fate to hit the bookstores. I've read all of the Nightworld series and I've been waiting for the conclusion of the series for years now. Does anyone out there know when this book is coming out?
Rating: Summary: A wonderful, fantastic book!! Review: Jez was born half-vampire. She didnt know it until the night of her last hunt. Afterwards, she hunted Night People, sided with Circle Daybreak, and never drank blood. She fell in love with Hugh, and old soul, who tells her that Circle Daybreak needs her to talk to Morgead Blackthorn, her old second-in-command in the gang she led. Morgead claims he knows where a Wild Power is, so humankind need her to get him to tell her who it is. She goes back, fights Morgead, and becomes leader. But before she does, she has to follow the blood in;blood out rule. As he drinks her blood, something strange happens. Morgead believes he's her soulmate, but she knows she cant. Because he absolutely HATES humans, so she cant be. He'd kill her the moment she'd tell him, at least, thats what she believes. He wants her to believe it, and she finally does. But she knows they cant be together at least. Will Morgead tell her who the Wild Power is? Or if he does, is he wrong? If he is wrong, will they find the real one? Will she tell Morgead that she's half-human, and risk getting her throat torn? This is one of her BEST books!!! I LOVE this one!
