Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!! Review: ok guys, this is it. definitely l.j smiths best, and i've read every single one of hers except the heart of the valor and night of the solstice. number 7 in the nightworld series, l.j smith brings a new twist into this series. wild powers. the world as we know it is ending, and hugh from circle daybreak turns to jez redfern, half vampire, half human, and a vampire slayer to help find them. her search leads her back into a past she has longed to forget, and reawakens old loyalties. can jez resist her crave for blood??? and what does she really feel about morgead, childhood rival?? and, of course, who IS the wild power???
Rating: Summary: ' One from the Day World where two eyes are watching' Review: I think this is my favourite Night World book of the nine I've read so far. Jez Redfern is the main character, and the story is about what happens to her when she turns from a vampire gang leader into a vampire hunter after discovering she's half human. This is the first of the 'Wild Power' Night World books. In this one, Jez has to search for a Wild Power and to do so has to rejoin her old gang who have evidence of a sighting of one. This book has a great surprise ending and Jez is a brillant character who really comes alive. The only thing I don't like is her soulmate, Morgread. He doesn't suit her. The poem which ends this book also ends the other 'Wild Power' books in this series: One from the land of kings long forgotten, One from the hearth which still holds a spark, One from the Day World where two eyes are watching, One from the twilight to be one with the dark.
Rating: Summary: It was Okay. Review: Although I enjoy some of L.J. Smith's books like The Vampire Diaries, etc, this book was kind of ordinary, some parts were a little boring and then some were very exciting. I wish the thing between Jez and Morgead was a little more romantic, but to me it really wasn't, just some kissing now and then. But all in all it was a good book, and I will definately read more of L.J. Smith's novels in the future.
Rating: Summary: My second favourite Night World book Review: This is my second favourite book because it has a strong heroine. I prefer girls who kick butt. Wild and dangerous, Jez Redfern is a fiery, beautiful vampire who is leader of a gang of vampires. On the last hunt of her life, Jez discovers a secret about herself and is forced to leave behind her former life. That means leaving her gang - Morgead, Pierce, Raven, Thistle and Val. She finds a friend in the human boy Hugh and joins Circle Daybreak.A year later, she's back and Morgead wants to know where she's been. If she tells him, she's risking her own life so she lies. She tells him she's back to take over the gang again but she's really there to steal a little girl from under his nose. Four Wild Powers have been born. Four kids who will be the ones to save the world. The Night World council is desperate to get their hands on just one so they can destroy the Wild Power and hopefully regain control of the world. Jez finds herself in a very strange situation. On the one hand, she is sickened by the horrible things her gang does and on the other hand, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to Morgead. Both are fighters and both are fighting these strange feelings but Morgead doesn't know Jez's secret and everything is heading towards a showdown between Jez and her friends and the mysterious and powerful Hunter Redfern who will stop at nothing to achieve his plans. This is a great book! This is the start of the books concerning Wild Powers and in my opinion, is the best Wild Power book. The main characters are strong, the supporting characters are well written and the plot is good. Definitely one of my favourites.
Rating: Summary: -Huntress by L.J Smith Review: I think that Lisa Jane Smith is an exceptional author! behind Tolkien. Like Francine Pascale (author of fearless) she's got this thing that makes you want to go on reading until you've finished the book.Huntress like the rest of the series is a very original story...it's too cool
Rating: Summary: THE ABSOLUTE BEST NIGHT WORLD BOOK!!!! -YET Review: I have read all the Night World books so far and this by far is my favorite. With Secret Vampire and The Chosen tied for second. I love Jez as the main character. The fact that she is a strong girl who can fight AND think for herself makes her totally cool. I love the soulmate principle. The Wild Power idea was a great one and that something big is going to happen at the millenium makes me want to keep reading to find out what it's going to be. I hope to see the characters from this book along with those from all the other books showing up in the future. If it was possible to give this book six stars I would do it in a minute. To all those out there thinking of reading the Night World series and those just looking for a good read srart with the first one Secret Vampire and you'll be hooked gareented!! : )
Rating: Summary: "On From the Day World, Where Two Eyes are Watching..." Review: "Huntress" is the seventh book in the "Night World" series, a range of books concerning the secret going-ons of vampires, witches and shapeshifters in our everyday world. Previously, the books were predominantly love stories between humans and Night World members, but "Huntress" is the book where things begin to get a bit more interesting... Jez Redfern is confident in her abilities and her life - she spends her nights hunting down humans with her gang for fun, and alternatively flirting/fighting with her second-in-command Morgead Blackthorn. But then a vision disrupts this life forever: she is not a full-blooded vampire, but the daughter of a vampiric father and a human mother. As this knowledge endangers her very life, she abandons her gang, joins the benevolent Circle Daybreak and goes to live with her human relatives. Several years later, Jez is leading a double-life: attending school by day with her annoying cousin Clare, and hunting her former allies at night under the instructions of the Circle. On this particular night she arrives home (in trouble with her family once more) to find another member of Circle Daybreak in her room: Hugh Davis. Hugh gives her the most important mission yet: a prophecy has risen that describes four "Wild Powers" that are destined to stop the coming apocalypse at the turn of the millennium. And why has Jez been chosen to find the first of these Wild Powers? - (whose clue to their identity is used for my review's title) - Because someone has come forward claiming knowledge of the first Wild Power, and it's none other than Morgead. She must return to her gang and reclaim leadership, all the time knowing that if her true identity is found out then her life would be forfeit. And there are other darker powers looking for the Wild Power... "Huntress" is one of the most rewarding books in the "Night World" series, concerning a desperate search, family ties, identity issues, Night World politics, and a growing sense of doom as the apocalypse ticks closer. However, don't get too involved in the characters and their situation - L. J. Smith has never published the last book in this series "Strange Fate" that wraps up the entire story (but as the millenium has come and gone without a hitch, I think we can assume that the good guys were successful). L. J. gives some nice touches to the mix, with mentions of previous characters and events, plus the actual appearence of a character from "The Chosen", that has an unexplained burn mark that only readers of that previous book will understand. We also get another retelling of the Night World ancient history that fits in nicely to what we already know about Hellewise/Maya/the dragons and all the other eras of history. At times it feels a bit rushed - Jez has found out her secret and moved in with her human family at the end of three very short chapters, and I'm getting increasingly amused at the ages of the vampires: despite the fact that they are immortal, all of her lamia characters just *happen* to be either seventeen or eighteen years old - where are all the grown-ups?!
Rating: Summary: one of the best night world books!!! Review: this book so far is one of my favorites in the night world series. Jez Redfern was the leader of a vampire gang until she discovered that she is half human. a year later she now joins Circle Daybreak on a quest to find one of the 4 legendary wild powers and to try to prevent the battle that is coming at the end of the millennium. this book is one of my faves. this nows goes into the story of the legend of the Wild Powers and the battle that is coming at the end of the millennium. excellent book to have!!
Rating: Summary: A winner! Review: Jez Redfern had thought she was 100% vampire. She was leader of one of the most influential gangs in the night world. But one fateful night she learned the truth! Her father had been vampire, but her mother had been human! The Council had killed her parents while she was still a tiny child, and would have killed her (as a freak of nature) except for her Uncle Bracken. Devastated, she was sent to live (hide) with her mother's relatives. They did not know her true heritage. As long as she did not drink blood, she could pass as human. She became part of Circle Daybreak, a vampire hunter! But Circle Daybreak sent her to rejoin her old gang in order to locate one of the legendary Wild Powers that their current leader, Morgead, claimed to have found. Morgead had been her second in command and was highly dangerous. Worse, some sort of twisted fate made them to be soul mates! Should he find out she was half human, he would kill her instantly! ***** An awesome tale! WOW! This book is fabulous! You will not regret purchasing this one, readers! I am currently searching for the next! Oh, this one is a book in itself, but there will obviously be others! A winner!
Rating: Summary: Huntress Review: Jez Redburn is a vampire hunter......who is half vampire. Now, no longer in her gang of other vampire, Jez is part of Circle Daybreak, and she has to find out what Morgead, a person from her gang, knows about a possible wildpower. But it seems like the person Morgead thought was a wildpower isn't. Will she find whoever the wildpower is before it's to late?
