Rating: Summary: An elementary effort Review: Like many other readers of this book, it was first brought to my attention by the Guns N' Roses video "November Rain" (which had a credit to Del James at the end of the video). When I found this book several years ago, I was intrigued by the blurbs on the cover which compared Del James to Clive Barker and Lovecraft, so I purchased a copy. Laughably, the stories within were not even close to the level of the two writers mentioned above. The author's ideas are elementary at best, and he goes for cheap popular references that quickly date this book as early 90's tripe (a period in which the "splatterpunk" genre was trying to replace old fashioned horror on the bookshelves). The author goes for very cheap shocks and laces his stories with crude sexual elements that denote him as a writer with nothing interesting to say except to appear "on the edge" when most of his descriptions could just have easily been copied off a bathroom wall. The only reason this book saw print was because the author was connected to Axl Rose (of Guns N Roses), and I suppose any book that has a foreword written by Mr. Rose must be okay, right?
Rating: Summary: Peculiar short stories Review: Like many others, I only picked up this book because of the G'N'R connection. I was pleasantly surprised; although the writing style is a bit elementary, it was weird enough to keep my interest. The short stories explore everything from a bad acid trip that ends in a bizarre tragedy to obsessive teenage love that ends in a bizarre tragedy to a fateful work shift in an adult theatre that ends in...well you know...a bizarre tragedy. Not a book you need to "think" about while you read-more like brain candy. A good, quick read. If you can find it cheap in the local Salvation Army, great-however, I don't recommend spending the outrageous amounts that this book is going for online.

Rating: Summary: HELP! I can't find this book. Please print more copies. Review: Okay, till now I thought I was the only one that couldn't find this book, then I looked here, now I don't feel quite so bad.I'm gonna keep looking but if anyone finds a hidden crate full of this book somewhere let me know, because for now it looks like I'm "without book" Ha,ha,ha.
Rating: Summary: Amazingly well-done. Horror at its best. Review: The Language of Fear is one of the most terrifying books that you may ever come across. From "Without You," (the inspiration for Guns N Roses video for "November Rain") to "A Tale of Two Heroines," James explores his own vision of the modern world and its horror. The writing is solid, though a couple of stories feel a bit forced. There is one warning with this, you may want to sleep with the light on after reading it. Avoid this work if you are easily frightened.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This book is currently available on ebay!! Bid on it before it ends! This is a prime opportunity for someone who wants to own this book at less than a premium price! This book ends August 8th or 9th.
