Summary: A Good Follow-up to "The Bone Collector"
Review: This is the second Deaver book I've read and I must say this guy knows how to write a story. His attention to detail and ability to throw in unexpected yet believable twists make his stories very entertaining and worth the time.

The Rhyme and Sachs relationship is developing nicely and hopefully will continue for a long time.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Deaver is brilliant
Review: I first picked up one of Deaver's novels because I heard they were making a movie (The Bone Collector). When I heard there was another book in the series I dashed right out to get it. I was not disappointed. Although The Bone Collector was a very fine piece of work, it doesn't come close to the intricate web Deaver has spun in The Coffin Dancer. The book is a virtual masterpiece of twists and turns, silent prophecies, and a climax that will shake you to your roots and leave you staring blankly at the book in shock. Rhyme and Sachs are brilliantly developed, and you find yourself wanting more when the last page comes. Luckily Mr. Deaver did not disappoint and he has a new Rhyme thriller out now. Let's hope it's as good as this one.

Summary: solid thriller
Review: Having finally succumbed to the Deaver phenomenon I came away fairly impressed. Deaver has the typical clean and efficient thriller writer writing style that makes for an enjoyable reading experience. The reader also comes away learning much about the world of forensic science.

The quadraplegic forensics expert Lincoln Rhymes is certainly interesting, if not in the same league as the Poirots and Holmeses, the interesting shades of his personality make him a likeable portagonist. The sexual tension between him and his Protegee, the 'beautiful' Amelia Sachs is also promising. Although Deaver's forays into the other aspects of his charcters' personality seem a little hokey.

The plot certainly goes through more twists and turns the average thriller, and things are never quite what they seem, it will interesting to see how many people figure out the major twist, it's not very difficult to guess, but I certainly missed it, don't quite know what that says about my intelligence.

Summary: Wow! What a GREAT Whodunnit!
Review: This was my first ride with Jeffery Deaver, and I sure picked a winner to start off with. I LOVE the forensic side of a murder mystery, and Deaver hits all the right buttons making us only THINK we know who the REAL culprit is all the way to the very end, only to spring on us the REAL killer. I can't TELL you how GREAT that was. One of the very few books I finished with a smile on my face. It was like when my brother used to fool me, and when it was all overwith, instead of getting mad at him, I just said, "Okay, ya got me! That was a GOOD one!" I felt the same way here. I don't know how to go about describing the storyline except to say whoever you THINK is the killer, it AIN'T! I was sorta disappointed with Deaver's follow-up, 'The Devil's Teardrop'...in comparison to his stories featuring Lincoln Rhyme, well there IS no comparison. I got to the point where I started to become envious of Lincoln because he is SO darned smart...but as always, until the end, always a step behind the bad guys...I just couldn't put this novel down. If you go for intense and creative murder/mysteries that are seamlessly woven with all of the details that go into catching someone like this--simply superb plotting and a great cast of characters propel this story to an INCREDIBLE climax that will catch you totally off-guard---but don't worry, you'll LOVE IT!

Summary: The "un-sequel"
Review: This book is an excellent follow-up to it's predecessor, The Bone Collector. Simply put. It's got the same characters, the same seen in the movie, the same readers either got to know through the first book, or will get to know in this one. The suspense is again, like none other yet read, as the fear and anxiety leaps off the page toward the imaginations of each and every reader. 1 star for the love of the characters, 2 stars for plot, and 2 stars for effort, as the "sequel" title is normally hard- being compared to the first, but Deaver pulls this off by out doing himself, yet again.

Summary: Great great read
Review: Another great Deaver novel. From the jaw-dropping beginning I was hooked. This is fast-paced, nerve-wracking, can't-put-down-the-book-until-3-in-the-morning story telling. Enough outrageous twists to make me drop the book several times and say out loud, "Ohmigod! What are they going to do NOW?!"

One minor complaint: the usual one-too-many-twists-at-the-end complaint I have with most of Deaver's books. But that's minor. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Nothing Special
Review: This was my debut for this author (I did see The Bone Collector on the big screen), but I was disappointed. I don't usually read this kind of book, but I did read Michael Connolly's The Poet and was freaked out enough to try another.

Maybe it's just me, but The Coffin Dancer just wasn't scary or suspenseful (what's so scary about a contract killer who kills his victims with bombs in their airplanes anyway?). Half the book is written from the point-of-view of the killer, which takes away alot of the fear/intensity. And Rhyme is able to figure out everything, which also kills the mood. There are some plot twists, but they are unrealistic and somewhat obvious. The chapter on the plane when they discover the bomb is an exception-- that was good suspense.

Summary: A GREAT BOOK FROM DEAVER
Review: All I can say, is this book was a great follow-up to the Bone Collector by Deaver. I plan to read his NEW bestseller, and it is already on the street, THE EMPTY CHAIR. I based my rating on the Deaver track record and the sheer excitment of this type of police work. You can not miss with a Lincoln Rhyme novel; trust me on this. I know I have not given you much on deatils of the story, but this is a good story and you will not be disappointed. Take a look at all my reviews. This book and other books I have read are the ones you can trust for a good read.

Summary: DANCING ALL OVER THE NYPD
Review: This book wasn't as good as the other novels I have read by Mr. Deaver but that doesn't mean that it wasn't good. The famous twists and turns are there and the plot is good. The novel did not read at breakneck speed, more like a slow jog. The novel got bogged down in the budding romance between Detective Sachs and Lincoln Rhyme, investigator extraordinaire. There was plenty of blood and mayhem to make up for it though. Overall it was an enjoyable read.

Summary: COFFIN DANCER - YOU OUT AND BUY IT!
Review: This is my second Lincoln Rhyme book and I savored every bit of it. I could visualize everything that was happening so clearly in my mind. Not to mention that Deaver has also made me feel in my mind what it must be like not to be able to move a limb in my body and that there are so many things we take for granted in life. I love the twists and turns and surprise ending. I gave this book to our receptionist and she is already wrapped up in the plot. I look forward to reading the Empty Chair. Keep those Rhyme books coming! P.S. I don't care what anyone says, movies aren't the same thing. They cut out alot of the plot.
