Summary: mystery, suspense fans must read this book!
Review: an unlikely hero is at the center of this amazing, always surprising story. the peripheral characters are all so real and seem as if they could carry their own story at any given time. an unusual but ultimately likeable heroine is strong and flawed at the same time. lincoln rhymes is physically handicapped but such a brilliant criminalist he is steps ahead of everyone else. he matches wits with a macabre villan who radiates evil throughout the novel.there are so many twists and turns, one surprise ,then another and another, making this book almost impossible to put down. be sure to read coffin dancer!

Summary: Excellent!!!
Review: I loved this book. I can't get enough of Lincoln Rhymes and Amelia Sachs. I was disappointed when it ended. I wanted it to go on and on. I never guessed who the real killer was. The twists and turns were dynamite. Can't wait for the next installment. Is Deaver finished writing it yet? Anxiously awaiting in Tennessee!!!

Summary: Hurry up and write another Lincoln Rhyme novel please!
Review: I thought this was a great, great book. I had been reading all day, hiding in the bathroom from my two-year-old and taking the book to the lunch table. Finally, I was going to just finish one more chapter and go to bed when the twist caught me off guard & I had to keep reading. As for the people complaining about Percey & her plane - Haven't you folks ever heard of DENIAL???? Also- I believe that in a life or death situation most sane people tend to "circle the wagons" so to speak. She was only looking after the only thing she had left, the plane - it was their child. And better yet - what better thing to keep her husband's memory alive than through what brought them together - flying!

If you havn't read Deaver - Read "The Bone Collecter" first and then this one. If you like forensic, technical thrillers - this author is guaranteed to thrill!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: An entertaining thriller with a great twist at the end
Review: Deaver's second thriller featuring his parapalegic forensic supersleuth Lincoln Rhyme is an entertaining thriller that holds together better than the first novel in the series. His rapid-fire plotting sucks you in and pulls you along. My problems with this novel fall with some apparent characterization problems.Early on, we are told that Rhyme has little understanding of the criminal mind or human personality, yet much of his detective work comes from trying to slip inside the mind of the killer as is in practically every serial killer novel since Thomas Harris' Red Dragon. Also, some of his secondary characters do tend to seem a little two-dimensional. Quibbles aside, Deaver hits the reader with a truly surprising, yet logical plot twist near the end of the book which sets up a very suspenseful and satisfying climax. A pretty good read, overall.

Summary: Unexpected twists drew me in
Review: After reading "The Bone Collector" I couldn't wait for this one and I wasn't disappointed. I think Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs play off each other perfectly as they are NOT perfect people. The killer is highly-detailed and complex. I had one problem and that was with Percey. Her husband is dead barely 24 hours and all she can think about is her plane! This didn't ring true, but it wasn't enough of a problem to spoil the book for me. I'm looking forward to the next Lincoln Rhyme book!

Summary: As good as "The Bone Collector" and that's saying a lot!
Review: The characters created in this and "The Bone Collector" are excellent. The only bad thing I can say about it is that I finished it too quickly - now I'm waiting for the next installment.

Summary: A great surprise
Review: I found this book from an E-Mail of Amazon top 10 Mistery and Thrillers on December. From that list I bought this book and I don't regret it. It was very forensic at the beggining, but then the show started and I couldn't put it down. Amazing till the end. Great book. Very good

Summary: good plot twist at the end--but thats all
Review: This book was annoying in many ways but the thing that bothered me the most was the Mrs. Clay did not even seem to care that her husband and friend were dead. All she cared about was... her airplane? It just seems really silly to me. I found myself cheering for the villians instead of the victims.

Summary: Fast paced excitement!...
Review: Having read and enjoyed the Bone Collector, I thought I'd give this book a try. I was captivated within the first few minutes of the book (I listened to the 4-cassette tape version). The plot was plausible and extremely clever. I thought I had things figured out until Deaver threw in a plot twist. Then I thought I had it figured out again until he threw in another towards the very end of the book. What can I say, but that this is a very satisfying read. I liked it better than the Bone Collector. And I must commend Joe Mantegna on his reading of the book. His style really draws you into the book.

Summary: Wicked twists at end bump it up a notch!
Review: Until I got to the last quarter of the book I was thinking that it was good, but not great and I was leaning towards 3 stars. However, the great plot twists at the end prompted me to reconsider. The main problem that I did have with it though, was the fact that both the killer, and Lincoln Rhyme who is the good guy, both seemed as though they should be working for the psychic friends network. They both seemed to always figure things out based on virtually nothing but gut instinct. This is fine a few times, but when it happens constantly throughout you start to question it. Nonetheless, the book is good, the ending great, so read it and you will like it.
