Summary: Enjoyable, but not Deaver's best
Review: I actually rate this at 3 1/2 stars. I read Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme novels in the wrong order. I started with Empty Chair, followed with Bone Collector, and finished with The Coffin Dancer. Of the three, I would have to say this is my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great read and I still recommend it! But the beginning is so much slower than the other two books that it fell below my expectations. I also believe that this book leaves Rhyme a little colder than he is in the other two books, which is kind of disappointing because this is the book that also builds up Sachs and Rhyme from co-workers to lovers. It took me awhile to get warmed up to this book, and I found the characters more lacking. Dellray comes across much weaker, but does have a great undercover scene that did him justice. I felt that Percey came across not so much strong-willed and independent like Deaver wanted, but more self-centered with disregard for anyone around her. Which to me, didn't make her very likable. (But then again, not all people are likeable, are they?) However, Deaver did not disappoint me when it came to the twists and turns that make his books so enjoyable. If this is the only Deaver book you have read, don't judge by this book alone. I still can't wait for Deaver to write a fourth book with Lincoln & Sachs on the scene!

Summary: Not his best
Review: I was very disappointed with this effort. Deaver did not develop the characters well at all. The wife of the pilot blown up in the beginning exhibited very little sorrow at her loss, although Deaver made a weak attempt to cover the issue later.

I also find it very hard to believe all the drinking Pearce did before flying the Lear. The book picked up, but way too late.

Summary: Almost outfoxed
Review: I just love Deaver's character Lincoln Rhyme, and of course I love Amelia Sachs. The sexual tension between these two in this book is great ... and just what the doctor ordered! I don't like books in which readers know throughout the whole book who the killer is, and you're just plugging for the main character to hurry up and get him. This surprise ending was a GREAT shocker. How we can all invite the villain, unknowingly, into our own homes is quite frightening... and quite realistic. And Deaver's book describes this to a T. Great mix of police work, gruesome stuff, romance, psychological thrills and once again (after The Bone Collector) a look into a great detective who does it all from the "comforts" of home -- he's a quadriplegic! What a super idea by Deaver. My hat's off to this sensational writer!

Summary: Lacking spark of Bone Collector
Review: I became a big fan of Deaver's after I had read Bone Collector. Maybe that left me disappointed after reading the Coffin Dancer.

Coffin Dancer is a good book, and reading more about Lincoln and Sachs was great, but it didn't live up to the Bone's level.

But I am still going to buy the latest novel with these characters.

Summary: Better than the Bone Collector
Review: For those who like plot twists and surprises, this is the book for you! Deaver deepens the great characters in "The Bone Collector" and continues with his vast description of crime scene investigation. I bought this book because I enjoyed "Collector" and the elements within it. But I feel that this book was better than the first and the ending was exceptional. This is a book that pulls you in from the beginning and doesn't let you go until the last page. That's just as well because the plot twists end with the final words. Not even half way through "Dancer" I raced online to preorder "Empty Chair". It'll be money well spent if it's half as good as this one.

Summary: unrealistic
Review: This book is way too unrealistic. As I read it, I constantly said to myself, "Yeah right, sure." Everything always turned out too perfect and far fetched. "Red Dragon" by Thomas Harris blew this book away.

Summary: The Coffin Dancer Reveiw
Review: I really enjoyed this book because of all the twist and turns inside it. The way that the murder himself is killed is very interesting. The book is all about how to disguise and figure out who the murder is. I'm only tweleve and i enjoyed this book so many others i hope will too. Please read the novel its one of Jeffery Deavers best.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Don't start this one unless you can go without sleep
Review: Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are back (and will be many more times, I hope)and their job is to find another one of Mr. Deaver's deviant and very effective killers. I have learned perhaps more than I wanted to what it must be like to be a paraplegic (or "crip" as Rhyme calls himself) , but I never tire of learning the art of forensic examination and seeing it employed against some really, evil people. The story has just enough about flying, one of my interests, to satisfy that yen and more than enough of plot twists and turns to make a reader who sometimes wonders what it would be like to be a successful novelist, to marvel at the author's ability to write such interesting and compelling stories. I can't wait for the next one.

Summary: Don't be fooled! this is a pretty good read. :)
Review: Yes, you've heard its not as good as Deavers other Lincoln Rhyme book, The Bone Collector. Well, in my opinion, it isnt. BUT the Coffin Dancer is a great read all on its own. The plot Does get a little ..well, boring, in a few parts, but the plot does twist many times , and I found it quite good. Too many people are comparing this to the bone collector. Don't, or you won't get as much out of the book as you had hoped ^_^

Summary: Amateur Effort at Forensic Writing
Review: After reading several of Jeffery's books, and being an avid crime fiction reader, I am compelled to put down my thoughts. This book is amateur. While the plot draws you in and the characters can be engaging, there are so many details missed and errors made in the planning, they are impossible to overlook. In crime novels, details are the most important thing. Especially a novel that is supposed to revolve around so much forensic analysis. Deaver makes the mistake that many other crime writers make, working backwords from his desired scene or plot twist to create the prose. In doing this, he skips over important police procedures, exaggerates forensic details, & miscalculates timelines until it is painfully obvious to the reader. I don't like reading a book where I actually flip back to another chapter to confirm a mistake that the writer made. I remember the details of the plot, and I expect him to do the same so that I can read fluidly through the novel, never questioning or second guessing what I'm reading. To name a few examples for the skeptics: In one paragraph, Deaver notes that Steven Kall wants Jody to call at 1:30 and later contradicts himself by saying it should be 12:30; as compelling as Rhyme is, there is no way that the FBI would defer to him to make decisions about the welfare of a witness!; CS Units do not accompany police to some street operation because of the potential for it to be a crime scene later!; DNA analysis takes months - Deaver has this and other procedures take place in hours just to get the info to Rhyme; and in several places he has Rhyme miraculously guess that evidence means one thing when it could also mean 1 million others. To an undedicated reader, these may seem like minor details to sacrifice for a quick paced plot and entertaining characters but if you are a hard core crime fiction reader, don't read Jefferey Deaver, you'll be sorely frustrated reading a potentially good book without the credibility that makes it believable. Try Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell or Lawrence Block instead. They can deliver good plot, good characters and not miss the important details that us die hards crave.
