Summary: One of the best of Koontz
Review: I love his relationship with the dog and his conclusion that "you never lie to the dog". His use of humor mixed with his usual great suspense makes this one of his very best books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great book for dog lovers
Review: Just plain enjoyable. Especially enjoyed Rocky and how the author gives him a leading role. I think Koontz should do a sequel using a cat. Female cat as male cats too agreesive. Let's call her Terror and terrie for short.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Absurdly pretentious, but I couldn't put it down!
Review: From the very first page, I laughed out loud at the incredibly pretentious use of language by the author. The thesaurus on his desk must be huge! But I did find the book very engaging.

If there's one thing that can be said for Koontz, it's that he has a sense of pace. The book reads like a screenplay, but I'd have to say I wouldn't see the movie. I enjoyed his paranoid, tortured, conspiracy-theorizing protagonists, transparent though they were, and the truly evil antagonists were oddly appealing as well.

Great literature it ain't, but a fun read nonetheless.

Summary: Justification for Mass Paranoia
Review: Having lost my library privileges in the State of California due to a complex government conspiracy, I have been forced to steal or borrow all of my reading materials since 1995. When I met him, my husband's literature collection included only some Garfield comics, 25 or so books by Elmore Leonard, and the collected works of Dean Koontz. I began with Koontz's "Dark Rivers" (after realizing that Elmore Leonard sucks the cheese from between my toes), and it is one of the best books I have ever read. I truly empathize with the waitress-of-many-secrets, being a secretary-with-many-secrets myself. Spencer Grant was a brilliant psychological portrait of a man in crisis. I felt like I knew him personally, and have even dreamt about him. What I like best about ALL of Koontz's novels is that they prey upon the modern sense of pervasive paranoia. Koontz not only justifies this paranoia, but he actually asserts that it is ONLY the paranoid people of the world who are mentally equipped to perceive reality as it is (the thing-itself), rather than, to paraphrase Lawrence, the ideas we choose to believe merely because they match the rest of our mental furniture. Not only CAN anything happen at any moment, but anything and everything DOES happen, and is happening, at every moment, from the supernatural to the just plain unbelievable. Dark Rivers of the Heart would make a great movie. P.S. - I am still eagerly waiting for Koontz to write The Book of Counted Sorrows, undoubtedly his masterpiece-to-be.

Summary: Best Book Ever Written
Review: Dark RIvers of the Heart, is in my opinion, the best book Dean Koontz has ever written. It has all the components of a good mystery, with technical information, reckless pace and humour. If you have never read Dean Koontz, I would reccomend you read this before starting the others, because this will make you want more.

Summary: Koontz's best work ever delves deep into the human being.
Review: I have read all Dean Koontz's books, ending with Fear Nothing, and I must say, this is his best work ever. By delving into the mortality of the human spirit, the book makes points that I can relate to and the overall content engaged me for the whole of the story; I couldn't put the book down. When I finished, I must say I felt somewhat more aware of my surroundings, my life, than before I had finished. Definately a good read; too bad more like this don't come around more often.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Koontz once again proves why he is one of the best.
Review: Koontz hits on all cylinders in this enthralling novel. One of his best works, he proves that he can scare the heck out of his readers without resorting to the supernatural for the "Boo". All I can say is THANK YOU DEAN.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: OH MY GOD! THAT WAS A GOOD BOOK!!!!
Review: I must say that I must agree with almost everyone else on this book. It was his masterpiece. I think even Stephen King himself must bow to Koontz's greatness every now and again. If you haven't read this book....buy it now.

Summary: Very Good!
Review: I never read any of Koontz's novels until I heard about this one and I heartily recommend it! Spencer Grant is a former cop with the LAPD who takes a liking to a waitress he meets in a bar who turns out to be on the run from a secret government agency. He tries to find her along with his dog "Rocky" while being pursued by agents of the same organization. The whole book is non stop action from start to finish. I learned of this novel after wanting to read a book with a similar plot to the movie "Enemy of the State" and BOY did I find it! If you liked "Enemy of the State", you'll LOVE "Dark Rivers of the Heart." I hope this book is made into a movie because I think it deserves to be put on film!

Summary: Fantastic book! Read it twice!
Review: I've read all of DK's books (with the exception of "Santa's Evil Twin", which I just couldn't get into), and "Dark Rivers of the Heart" ranks as one of the best.

His ability to create a thriller, wrapped around factual events and circumstances, is more evident in "DRotH" than in any of his other works.

This is a book that I would hate to be made into a movie, because nothing would be able to live up to what I've already envisioned in my mind, and I know I would only be disappointed!

Thanks, DK, for again coming up with a winner!!!
