Rating: Summary: A Real Page Turner! One of Koontz's Best! Review: A story that grabs you from the start and doesn't let go. I really liked the fast pace. My only complaint would be the ending, it didn't seem to fit into the story that well. Nevertheless an excellent read. Top marks!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: He's got you hooked from line one! Review: This novel is one to battled with. You have the psycho-killing lunatic, who heads a government agency on the brink of rising. Then there's Spencer Grant, a nobody with no life, and Valerie Keene, who works at the Red Door. Their paths intertwine, of course, and Spencer is immediately attracted to her.His hopes come up short, however, when he realizes she is being hunted by some nasty goons who want what she knows. The story begins, and it's basically a chase, and a fantastic one at that. Those readers who were disappointed with this book need to read it again. It deals with a man, who finds himself and love in one novel. It's about the past catching up with you, it's about meeting old enemies and building strong links on relationships. It's about one psychotic man who'll go to all links to possess information, and it shows the world in the respect of the future. This novel is a work of art, a true masterpiece. But, then, you would already know that if you knew Dean Koontz IS the Master of Suspense. This book is a must-read. Read it over and over and over until your satisfied. The plot is astounding, I love the dog, the characters are very appealing, and the action is non-stop. You have gun-battles, helicopter chases, this book has it all. Grab a chair, and enter the world of Dean Koontz.
Rating: Summary: romance...believable conspiracy...awsome combination Review: I love all of koontz books that i have read so far..he is a talented writer. His writing is more toward the sci-fi angle..yet he always mangages to make it beleveable..sometimes so that it makes u start thinking :) His imagingtion must be vast, for no matter how many of his books u read,...each story plot and character is very different and unique.
Rating: Summary: Koontz's Best Yet!!!!! Review: This book was a spellbinding, twisting, and turning thriller that kept me up all night! It is not only exciting but it also has real pychological depth. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I booed. My advice-read it now!
Rating: Summary: The very best of Dean Koontz!!! Review: This is a beautiful book. The word usage is so wonderful - so much information given in an almost poetic format. It is a very complex book, but very readable. Mr. Rocky dog is the BEST!!! The main characters are described in such a way that I feel as if I know them personally. The theme of a government out of control is so well presented, along with the information about the Forfeiture laws, I am convinced that there must be a resistance organization, such as the one described, actively protecting the innocent from the blatent abuse of power. I love all of Dean Koontz's books, but this one is my very favorite. I have read it and listened to the audiobook many times.
Rating: Summary: Koontz's Best! Review: If you really love Koontz, you can't miss this one. It's long, but if you love to read, it'll be over too quick!
Rating: Summary: A stinker Review: Ultimately forgettable. Lame characters. Same storyline we've seen in all those shallow government conspiracy tales. Koontz's anti-govt. message was not convincing. One of his worst.
Rating: Summary: A very good book with tons of elements of fear!! Review: I thought this was a great book. But it was a little hard for me to begin. Koontz has a way of grossing you out in sexual and perverted ways. But he does give you a feeling of not understanding because you believe that something is going to happen and then the opposite happens with a twist. I don't think that the police captain in this story really didn't need to be in it, it was there just to put a pause in the movement. But all in all, this is a great book.
Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: Koontz has a number of books that are worth reading - but this isn't one of them. His recent tendancy toward sick / erotic side-tales doesn't appeal to me at all, However, it does provide the major source of "mood" for the book - so it was probably needed. Move along quickly and don't be tempted to look closer at this one.
Rating: Summary: Conspiracy-based thriller with sicko erotic fantasies Review: No doubt about it--this one grabs your attention and whirls you along for quite a ride. The over-long explorations of sick-sick-sick fantasies and the increasingly insistent depiction of conspiracy at the heart of government will doubtless turn on some readers and turn off others. In this context, "a real page-turner" meant that I skipped over page after page trying to find actual plot-related narrative.
