Rating: Summary: The Sandman : The Dream Hunters Review: This book is simply beautiful, between Neil Gaiman's elegant work of prose and Amanos sensous art work its a book to be read several times. The book does seem a bit simplistic but there is more depth than visible at first glance, in fact the only gripe i have is its shortness, but when you'll read the book several times and spend several more hours just looking at the beautiful surreal artwork, you've got plenty of time involved. I hope to see more work between these two.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece Review: This book was a gift from a long time Gaiman fan. Being my first read of his, I can't compare it with his other works. I do know that it is now one of my favorite possessions. Neil Gaimons imagery was perfectly suited by Amano's amazing artwork. This book is great for either a child or an adult. The story, enriched by a Japanese fairy tale setting, has a simple but enjoyable plot. It is sure to be a classic.
Rating: Summary: Stunning work! Review: This is a beautiful book. It is such a change from the Sandman series, and yet so familiar. Gaiman is my favorite author, whether in comic or traditional prose form, and this book in no exception. The art is some of the most beautiful I've seen. This is a Morpheus I would like to see more of. Everything about this book - the writing, the art, is just amazing!
Rating: Summary: Strange and beautiful Review: This is a wonderful book. A charming story is well told, and beautifully illustrated.
Rating: Summary: Thats the way it is Review: This is an excelent book. The illustrations and story was well done. I enjoyed it immensely. A great read.
Rating: Summary: The way it is Review: This was by far one of the best books I have ever read. Great illustrations and a great story.
Rating: Summary: Amazing artwork and a very Japanese Sandman Review: While this isn't the best "Sandman" story (I reserve that for "The Kindly Ones") this story was absolutely amazing. But more than that, the artwork, quite frankly, blew me away in spaces. Amano's version of the King of All Night's Dreaming (Morpheus) alone made this book worth the cost. Althogh not in graphic novel format, this was defintely a worthy successor to the other Sandman graphic novels. It is visually stunning, and it presents an image of Morpheus *before* the Morpheus of the previous books, one that grants a greater understanding of the character and the changes he underwent.
