Rating: Summary: An interesting mix of Mythology and Horror Review: My favorite Christopher Pike book, "The Immortal" has an interesting blend of Greek Mythology and scary horror. It was what got me started on mythology. The main villan Helen was twisted and evil and I cheered Josie on in those last few chapters. No matter how air-headed she sounded at the begining of the book, the girl had some brains behind her. She made a great heroine. If you need a good book to read, pick this book up!
Rating: Summary: The Book Was Great! Review: One of Christopher Pike's better novels, not necesarily my favorite, though. It wandered off in a couple of spaces, and left you confused. All in all, I'm buying this book, and you should, too. Just have some patience, and read past the first few pages!
Rating: Summary: Immortal Review: The Immortal is an excellent book. It is about a girl named Josie who keeps being drawn to a sacred island in Greece and there, she discovers that she was once a Greek goddess named Sryope. She continues her ancient rivalry with a fellow immortal-turned-mortal, Phthia, and she is also going after a man named Tom who she believes is her God/husband, Aenaes. If you are into mythology or just like thrilling tales, this book is for you. It got me interested in mythology the first time I read it!
Rating: Summary: The Immortal Review: The Immortal is an exciting book about a young girl who gets mixed up with history. Josie and her friend Helen go on vacation to the Greek island of Delos. There, they go to see some of the ancient ruins. Josie feels overpowered when she's there, and so does her friend Helen. The book goes on about how the girls find a statue of a goddess who wants to take Josie's body. They become possessed by the Greek gods, but I will not give away more. This book was really good. I liked how there were two stories with an interesting ending that tied the stories together. There are many exciting parts in the story. One is where Josie and a boy she met go out into a boat late at night. There is a dangerous storm system around those islands that picks up that night. They drop an oar and the boy goes out to find it. He does not return so Josie is left in the boat alone. She wrestles with the storm, trying to stay in the boat all night. She falls asleep when the storm lets up and finds herself on the island with the ruins again. This is where she begins to see the life of the goddess. Christopher Pike does a wonderful job of explaining everything but at the same time not being too wordy. It was a good book and I would recommend it to people who like to read stories with a little bit of an imagination and reality all mixed together.
Rating: Summary: The greatest book written by the greatest writer Review: The Immortal is my favouraite book and it will always be. It has so much in it. I think that its a very powerful book. It just has something in it that no other book has. Christopher Pike writes it in a way that seems so perfect and powerful. I feel as if I'm a part of what's happening in it. I read it from a library, so I couldn't keep it. But after I read it, I decided that I had to own it so I'm going to buy one, because I have to own something so wonderful. Thank you, Christopher Pike for writting it. You've made Delos one of the have-to-visit places in this world. You're my fave writer and you'll always be.
Rating: Summary: an absolutely brilliant book!!! Review: this book is really captivating from the very start. some of the chapters are a bit boring but you have to read them to understand what happens in the book later on(as i found out!) anyone who's a fan of christopher pike books should read it,definitely!!!
Rating: Summary: this is one of the best books that i have ever read. Review: This book was beyond great.I am Greek so i was fasinated by it from the start. It was a sad, suspensful, romance. all of the ingredients of a perfect book. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Your Patience Will Pay Off Review: This book was extremely well written and captivating, but it moved too slow for me. I do highly reccomend it; if you do read it (and you should) be patient, read all of it, (don't skip chapters like I did the first time) and I guarentee, that if you're a fan of Pikes, the boring parts will fade to a fantastic, original novel.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!!!!! Review: This book was super. This was the first book I read by him. After reading it i was hocked.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorites Review: This has always been a personal favorite of mine when I look at Christopher Pikes work. Maybe it's the setting, Greece (awesome place, I stayed on one of the islands near Mykonos) or maybe it is how clearly and conchisely the story is told before it reaches it's conclusion. It all ties together at the end. The story is told from the point of view of Josie "Goodwin" (does that tip you off that she's the heroine?), a blond babe from LA with an attitude and a knack for helping her dad with his stories. (Her dad is a screenwriter). She is on a trip to Greece with her father, her friend Helen Demeter, and her dad's much younger girlfriend from Beverly Hills named "Silk". Josie hates her. The basic tone of this book is fun, although it does get serious later on. There is nothing in it that made me cringe and have nightmares when I read it at age 12, a long time ago. It's a pretty sweet story, and it portrays a thought provoking, modern Olympus. I used to love to read Greek mythology and he does a wonderful job capturing the flavor and folklore of the stories. It feels like something that he put a lot of thought into, and being a good storyteller, he really shines in this story. I think he must have gone to Greece and liked it. You and me both, Mr. Pike.
