Rating: Summary: More Bentley Please... Review: While this isn't as good as The Mailman (still my favorite Little tale, this is very good. No, it is not the most terrifying book ever, but Bentley is such a great writer that it's just nice to read his words. It will give the creeps at times, but this is a book that could have easily been 100-200 pages longer, more scares and more about or heroes pasts. But, all in all a very well done book. Can't wait for more!
Rating: Summary: BENTLEY'S WEAKEST BOOK Review: Although well written, this is Bentley's weakest book. Having read them all, I found the story lacking in terror with mild suspense at best. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad - just a step or two down from his last book. I hope he isn't leaving the horror genre like Robert McCammon. Bentley is truely one of a handful of great writers making a mark in the horror genre and I hope his next book is better. If you want to give him a try, I would recommend THE MAILMAN. However, UNIVERSITY, DOMINION, and THE STORE are also a lot of fun.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK STARTED TO HAUNT ME!!! Review: I am new to the horror book reading experience. I had read the reviews THE HOUSE. I thought "How scary could it be?" Let me admit to you, I read it, put it on a shelf. But I had to give it away to some other soul...I could not bear to have it sit there and haunt me... reminding me of the horror and pure wickedness I allowed myself to encounter. Thank you Mr. Little. I'll do it all again!!!
Rating: Summary: Oblique and entertaining Review: I purchased this book despite its sophomoric cover art and was pleased that I had. Its a bit surrealistic and familliar with a bit of shock tossed in for good measure.
Rating: Summary: Maybe I Don't Get It Review: I bought this book based on the reviews I read here. However, I was very disappointed with this book. I was expected a "haunted house" element to be present. There was none, just a very jumbled plot line. I was sorry I purchased this book.
Rating: Summary: Unwilling guardians. Review: Four men and one woman had each had such an awful childhood that their minds had blocked it out. Each had one thing in common also. Each had lived years of their childhood in The House with a butler and a dirty little girl. Now memories are coming back. Each are compelled to return to The House to confront the evil which dwells there. The House is not a normal building. It sits on the border between our world and the world of the dead. The House must have occupants living within it to remain at its full strength. Once all five are together The House shifts and each person is trapped within a seperate house. Five different houses, yet all houses are the same. They are One. Each must find a way out of their house, before the dolls or the little girl kills them. ***Gruesome and compelling. It pulled me in at the beginning with hints of evil, lust, and danger. It kept me there with mystery and supernatural acts. A whirlwind of events which slowly came together in a fascinating tale. I enjoyed every minute of reading this one!***
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: This book was one of the best books I've ever read. Bentley Little is talented, and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to be scared. -Megan
Rating: Summary: Is it possible Bentley Little & Robt McGammon = S. King? Review: Does anyone else see the resemblence between Stephen King's writing and that of Bentley Little and Robt McGammon? If you hadn't been told the author and were just asked to read them, you'd have to say Stephen King wrote these books. If not, these two authors are remarkably talented.
Rating: Summary: A MASTERPIECE.. Review: Bentley Little has the best ability to make the reader imagine the scene so well as if you were there. This book involves you in ist atmosphere from the Prologue to the Epilogue.Frightening, Amazing,Interesteting makes it impossible to put it down, noteven for a minute! IT's GREAT!!
Rating: Summary: Underappreciated Genius! Review: Signet seems to be throwing good money after bad by continuing to hype Judith Hawks and seemingly every other horror writer on their roster while letting Bentley Little languish in obscurity. Little is hands down the best and most consistent horror writer working today, and his latest book is one of his finest. This is the book Dean Koontz's "Strangers" SHOULD have been. Complex, moving, scary, it's one hell of a read. Hopefully, Little will one day get the respect and support he deserves.
