Rating: Summary: Dawn's altar ego Review: Who ever VCA's ghost writer is should give up his day job. All he does is write the same thing over and over again. Some lovely young thing finds out that she is not part of her family. Hence the reason she is so smart easy going and pretty. Ms.Lovely now moves in with her rich but evil family who treats her like red headed stepchild(Sorry Ruby). Lovely has no backbones and rolls over and cry and bemoans her fate. Lovely sleeps with the first guy who looks her way. Mr.Sexy as it truns out is only using her. Either her brother or the boy whom she believed to be her brother is the only man for her. Mean ugly and slighty nutty sister, aunt, grandmother strives to break them up. She has a child and then she dies. We follow the life of her even more Lovely daughter who has even less of a back bone. You can be sure some where in the background Rain's daughter who will probably be named Tsumani will have an crazy uncle lusting after her. But wait there's a prequle with a Lovely sister who daddy loves and an ugly shrew who daddy hates. Why must me put up with five more books in this line(Eye of the storm, Flash flood, Thrunder rolls or titles close to these) don't we know how it's going to end?
Rating: Summary: Happiness is... Review: I have read V.C. Andrews works since I was young. I own every last one of her books and anticipate the moment when a new book hits the shelf. Believe me I'm there waiting. Her older books are truly her best, however I still enjoy reading them as they come out, even after many years. Her newest book Rain was quite surprising and somewhat different than her others. I waited throughout the book for the grandmother to be pschotic, I held my breath everytime she turned a corner in that large house, and worridly worked the pages of my book waiting for some sign of evil. Yet, is it true? Could it be that in the standard formula of V.C. Andrews' books something went horribly wrong? For there wasn't a hint of bad in that feisty old woman, then in the ending (not to give much away though), It actually brought a smile to my lips and once again I wait for the sequel with as much anticipation as ever. Different? yes. Hwever surprisingly good for the first happy V.C. Andrews' book i have ever managed to read.
Rating: Summary: Everybody is kinda right. Review: I was not thrilled with the follow the theme book but I like a lot of others loved that this girl had more diversity to her. But the statement that VCA books all follow a pattern is not true... True VCA books (MSA, FITA, & Heaven) did not in any way follow a pattern and weren't even alike... All the Ghost Writer books have followed the "pattern theory", Heaven's pattern. But, I liked Rain and will read the next one. I like Rain's spunk and I do believe she went through some very traumatic things... it will be interesting to see what she does later.
Rating: Summary: A VERY GOOD BOOK! Review: This is my second review of Rain, and as I stated before, I thought this was a very good book. The fact that rain was bi racial, made me love it even more. I am a Black Woman who has been reading V.C. Andrews books since the tender age of 10 (Heaven was my first). Although the Orphans, and Wildflowers series wasn't as good as her other books. I am happy to see that Black people, or people of color, are no longer reduced to the roles of Maids, Drivers, and Friends often ingnored. Thank you Mr. Ghost, thank you for writing a book that includes all of V.C. Andrews Fans. Keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: Rain Rules Review: I have been a long time fan of VC Andrews. I have been reading her books since high school. Rain is a relatively good book. True, the story line is similar to many other VC Andrews books but this one has its good parts. It was refreshing to have the book take place in modern times and to see the main character be a mulitracial person. I thought the beginning of the book was good. But it started to slow too much and get a little dull after Rain moves in with her real grandmother. I found the relationship between Rain and Roy a little gross. I mean he grew up with her his whole life and when he finds out they are not blood related, hes relieved because he loves her? I look forward to the next book.
Rating: Summary: Rain Review: Ok Ok so the story line was the same as basically all her other books but it still managed to keep me enthralled just the same. There was a nice grandmother for a change and Rain was bi-racial. The book was great and Im looking foward to the next one, Lightning Strikes.
Rating: Summary: rain's performance Review: Rain was one of V.C.Andrewsbetter books.I love all of her novels but, this one r-eally inspired me because my best friend is in a situation where she has not seen her mother since she was a baby.Rain's story was captative because she really had a hard time after she found out she was bi raciscal.the people at the private school were a bunch of snobs .I think Rain's story can touch alot of people in her situation because it gives you hope for a better life. The new writer is doing a great job but,V.C.Andrews was the best.i hope thee is more to come.
Rating: Summary: Same, but STILL Great and Going! Review: I thought it was a lot like the other stories, but I still enjoyed it a lot. It was a little different with the grandmother being with and for her and she didn't seem to have as many problems as the other family series have. I don't know how the other ones will turn out, but if they are as good as this one, it's a MUST READ! I hope this helped!
Rating: Summary: Best VC Andrews book yet! Review: I recently read Rain and am anxiously awaiting the publication of the following book. I couldn't put this book down. I could really relate to the main character, Rain. She was a very real person in a unique situation. I loved the book and recomend it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: It is a great book Review: I really enjoyed reading "Rain." To many people complain that it is always the same plot. I personally don't think that's true. Of course I could be wrong because I have yet to read "Dawn" and "Ruby." The role played by the grandmother was good, and having Rain be mixed between black and white was a great idea. I really recommend this book and I can't wait for the sequel "Lightning Strikes" to come out!
