Summary: "Exciting"
Review: "Rain" was again one of V.C. Andrews pieces of Art. She knows how to get you interested and keep you there, you can't put this one down till your finished. I can't wait till the second series "Lightning Strikes" comes out.

Summary: It's ok...
Review: ..but not NEARLY as good as the other VC Andrews books.. I don't really like the fact that this book is placed in "our time". The reason I love VC Andrews other books is because they are set in different times, such as the Landry series which is my favorite.

Summary: If you have read the book...
Review: I havent gotten a chance to read this book yet, but I have heard it was pretty good. If you have maybe yoyu can help me out a bit. Do you know if this book is a part of a series? And if it is, can you please email me and tell me what the other books in the series are and if there is a book at the end to wrap it all up? If you know, please email me and LondonBlues@aol.com Thank you so much and if you want to read good books, The Orphans series is the best ive read yet.

Summary: A "Shower" of Praise
Review: This book was enthraling from the beginning. I and a huge fan of V.C. Andrews anyway, I've read every single book by her, and I found that this one was an incredibly written book. It is similar to the story of Dawn Cutler, but I'm sure this one will have mysterious twists, as all of her books do. I recommend this book to anyone who is even slightly a fan of V.C. Andrews.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Far too much like Dawn's story
Review: The first half of the book is very enthralling. The situation is more desperate than usual in recent VC books, because the main character is actually in danger. However, the setup of the story is too much like that of the Cutler series. Worth reading, but we can only hope the next books will offer the readers something new and different.

Summary: "RAIN"-More Of V.C. Andrews Master Story Telling!
Review: Excellant book. Another V.C. Andrews masterpiece. Once you start, you won't put it down. I can't wait for the next installment in the exciting new "Hudson" series. Welcome to the life of 'Rain Arnold"!

Summary: Guilty pleasure
Review: Since I got old enough to distinguish between good and bad writing, V.C. Andrews has been a guilty pleasure for me. I started reading her books way back when "Flowers in the Attic" came out, and I've read every one of her actual books as well as all the ones ghost-written by Andrew Neiderman (which now far outnumber the ones written by Andrews herself). They all have a formula: young girl suffers the loss of a parent, discovers that she's not who she thought she was, goes to live with a new family who are blood-related but strangers, and they make life miserable for her. "Rain" follows the formula (though it does depart by having her grandmother actually be an ally), but the initial setting -- the tough inner city -- is definitely a departure for the Andrews franchise. "Rain" is more up-to-date, too; Andrews and Neiderman's other main characters were usually a lot more innocent than Rain despite having grown up in tough circumstances.

So, is it a great book? No. But if you're an "Andrews" fan, you'll probably enjoy it anyway. I did, although I don't like admitting it!

Summary: I've Read Much Better..
Review: I've read Flowers in the Attic, My Sweet Audrina (which is my favorite VC book), Celeste, Black Cat, and now Rain. I actually never knew VC died until I read in the book where it says 'Following the death of Virginia Andrews...etc' and the Andrews family got another person to replace her. This is very odd to me. Why a person (what's their name..Neiderman?..something..) would write books in another person's name and not getting any type of credit for themselves in the books they write is very perplexing. But nevermind that, I read 'Neiderman's' recent books: Celeste and Black Cat.

Even though the story line is fantastic, I just feel like the books aren't going anywhere. It feels like the story will never end. But I did like the books, and took a chance with other Neiderman books, such as Rain. I wasn't very happy with this book. The storyline was actually quite boring, it took me a month to read the book, when Celeste took me a day and Black Cat the same..My Sweet Audrina I read in a few hours.

Anyway, another thing that was really...dumb, for lack of a better word, was that once in awhile a scenerio would pop up that made no sense whatsoever. Two examples are: 1) When Roy tells Rain something like, "One time I was thinking about you and I got so mad at myself and I stabbed a pen into my leg" A second instance was: 2) When Rain's friend Audrey tells Rain something like, "I had a boyfriend once. But he didn't look at any girls and I asked him why and he said it was because he wore rubber underwear. His mom told him how bad his 'part' was and to control it, he needed to wear rubber underwear."

When these parts came along I sat there going 'Oh please!' Those parts in the book sounded as if Neiderman let a 13 year old girl write a bit of the book. It was really ridiculus. Anyway, I don't think I'll be buying 'Lightning Strikes', the Hudson family series SO FAR isn't very good, in my viewpoint.

Summary: Not for Blacks or Teens....
Review: This book is alright. The plot seems a little too familiar, though. Yet,first, I like Rain cuz she's a strong and nice person, but she's kinda vain cuz she's half-white (cuz ur half-white, ur all that?). Also, she's a little ho! Look: in "Rain," she gets drunk & drops her [...] for some lame guy she barely even knows; in the second book, she has a quickie with a guy who likes her; in the third book, she has premarital sex with her hubby-to-be, Austin. Also in "Rain" she lets Roy feel her up, even though she dislikes it. And her half-brother Brody likes her. Gross. Next, I hate that blacks are misrepresented/misjudged in the series and some of the characters are racist! Last, whites are shown in this series to be black people's "Great White Hope!" Thus, this book neeeds a lot of fine-tuning and it could be better. Much better.
