Rating: Summary: Twins... Review: After being together all their life, Mary Lee and Madrigal's parents decide to split them apart. Mary Lee is sent to boarding school, which she hates. Meanwhile Madrigal is back home having a supposedly wonderful life. When Madrigal comes to visit her, she has an accident which leads Mary Lee to step into her life. Mary Lee finds out that Madrigal was not quite the person she thought she was.I enjoyed this book a lot! It was my first Cooney book (I've since read others) and I couldn't put it down. I thought it was going to be some kind of supernatural phemnomina story and it wasn't; it stuck closer to real life.
Rating: Summary: Please Write A Sequel Review: Caroline's book Twins is awsome! Right after I got done reading it I read alll over again. I want her so bad to write another sequel to Twins. Maybe like have it where Jon Pear plays a trick on them, and is not really dead. I love her books so much!
Rating: Summary: Great book. Review: chapter 1 They were sending mary lee to boarding school. she could not believe it. identical twins-separated? Mary lee's lovely olive skin was stretched with fear. her beautiful hazel eyes, with their fringe of long black lashes were wide with panic. each swing of hair, each lift of brow, was mirrored in he identicaltwin. if it had been a fairy tale and onr twin had said "mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of them all?" the mirror could not have an answer. for two qualified... ... "you be madrigal, mreelee" said her twin, zipping mary lee into the gleaming taffeta plaid. "what do you mean?" "we'll switch." Madrigals wild smile demanded a return, and mary lee gave it smilling wildly back, though comprehending nothing... ...The gondala in whitch the twin sat by herself leaped forward again, and the thin metal rod that curved over the top of the seat and held the gondola to the cables, snapped. the gondola flipped, as if unearthy hands were shaking the contents out... ..."is she-?" began Mrs. spinney."is she-?" "Dead," whispered bianca. ok now for my review. madrigal deAD, mary lee mistaken for madrigal. mary lee used to wish she lived her sisters life. well heres your chance mary lee. when she goes back home she is hated by some of the people she liked before. what was her sister doing while she was gone? read it to find out!
Rating: Summary: Great book; suspencful and thrilling Review: I am a 12 yr. old girl and I recomend this book to all kids my age. This book puts you on the edge of your seat, and once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. A lot of the reviews on this book are bad, but don't listen to them! Try it for yourself!
Rating: Summary: TURN ON YOUR FAN, FOLKS! THIS ONE's A REAL STINKER! Review: I am sorry, but this book is stupid. Stupid and implausible. Stupid. Stupid, STUPID! It is the cliche of twins who are obverse sides of each other -- one good, one evil. Madrigal, the evil twin naturally wants to dispose of Mary-Lee, the goody-goody. She convinces their naive parents into sending Mary-Lee to boarding school, where the girl is miserable and wants to come home. Interestingly, Mary-Lee has no idea of how evil Madrigal is until after Madrigal dies in a skiing accident when she [Madrigal] comes to visit the boarding school. Mary-Lee was relegated to the background while everybody flocked to her evil sister. Madrigal, in a seeming change of heart (if she had one) suggested that she and her twin switch snow suits when the group goes on a ski trip. Madrigal dies, and naturally everyone thinks it is Mary-Lee who is dead. The girl's parents enter into the charade only to admit that they knew Madrigal died all along. They admitted that they wanted to protect Mary-Lee and that sending her away was to keep Madrigal from harming her. Mary-Lee overheard them saying in an earlier chapter that they regretted having twins and that if one had to die, "better it be this one," meaning Madrigal. Don't worry folks -- it all gets sorted out in the end. There is no way for those foolish parents to justify pretending that they thought Mary-Lee was the dead twin. That charade was not only stupid and unbelievable, it was insulting to the readers' inteligence. Madrigal's evil boy friend, Jon Pear is a very unbelievable character - he eats Mary-Lee's tears, he swears to be her twin in evil and the kids at the high school they attend all shy away from him. Jon Pear is a completely laughable, ludicrous charcter that adds nothing to this story. It is like adding water to the soup - you have more to consume, but are really taking in less. He does nothing to contribute to this stupid story. Mary-Lee is laughably clueless to a certain extent.
Rating: Summary: Twins Review: I don't know why some people don't like this book. I read it right through non stop. I admitt it isn't the best book I've read, but if I was to suggest a book to a best friend I'd suggest this. It really thrills you in a way. A teenager's life has much pressure like Mary Lee's did, if you're an adult that is reading this you might not like it as much, but when a teenager is reading it we can actually feel it so realistic and relate to it.
Rating: Summary: Just another horror novel. Review: I enjoy Caroline Cooney's work immensely, but was disappointed greatly when I read Twins today. The story was a touch pretentious, and some paragraphs were confusing. The story should have left a bigger opening for a sequel, about Jon Pear. I could have put it down, it wasn't extremely engaging, like her other novels, but it wasn't altogether bad. I reccomend it, but only as a one time read.
Rating: Summary: Its an ok book...if your 10 Review: I first read this book when I was about 11 or 12. I liked it but it's what I consider an easy read. If your a younger reader then its fine for you and you can't put it down. If your my age, then your like this is so predictable.
Rating: Summary: A lot of the reviews on this book are bad, but don't listen Review: I found that this book was told a lot differently than other books. The book was very straight-forward and told like you were sitting there watching the story happen. I know a lot of people probably don't like that, but it's what makes the book unique. The wording of the story was very poetic. Mary Lee and Madrigal may not be very realistic characters, but it is an interesting story. What I like most is that you never find out what their last names are, which doesn't happen very often.
Rating: Summary: I was disappointed Review: I have read several of Caroline B. Cooney's books before and always thought they were quite good. However, this one was very disappointing. The outcome is too easily figured out; the plot is unbelievable; you feel no sympathy towards the characters. If you want a good book, don't go for this one.
