Rating: Summary: She Knows What I did... Review: THis was a great buy for me. I enjoyed the film, and loved the book. But the best part was geting my copy autographed by Louis Duncan. Thanks Louis.
Rating: Summary: WHAT A THRILLER! Review: If you're up for terror, suspense and a bit of romance, then this book is for you. This book is filled with plently of twists and turns which will keep at the edge of your seat. When I read this book,I finished it in just two days. The book is about four teenagers who did something horrible last summer and try to conceal it. They made a promise that they would never speak about what they did again. And they all keep their word. Then, all of the sudden strange events start occuring that are tied to the incident. All of them meet together once again and discuss what has been going on. They thought what they did was a secret. But they though wrong. The secret is out, and they're in danger of losing their lives.
Rating: Summary: One of my all time favorite books Review: First of all I wanted to say that this book is nothing like the movie. It had the same basic plot, but thats about it. As many movies that are based on books, the book is a lot better. This story is about four teens who accidentely hit a kid riding his bike while they were drunk and speeding, they did as much as they could to cover up the murder, but one year later one of the teens gets a note that says "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER." Next, the person that wrote the note starts blackmailing them by leaving newspaper articles about the hit and run, and pictures of them standing by the kid after the acident. Eventually he begins threatening them. The teens know that they need to find out who knows what they did, before they are either found out by police, or even worse killed by the blackmailer. This book is very suspenseful and it has a lot of twists in the plot. Its a must read for fans of any book fan.
Rating: Summary: Formulaic mystery-revenge novel Review: I didn't see the movie, but I was curious to read the book because the author, Lois Duncan, was very upset about the slasher flick her novel was adapted in to. After seeing the pictures of the hook handed man, I could see why, and one of the reasons it upset her was because her daughter was murdered and it was never solved. However, this book does not have a hook handed man, and it's less of a horror novel than a mystery. Four teenagers, Julie, Helen, Barry and Ray, got drunk and stoned at a picnic, they accidentally hit a boy. Julie and Ray wanted to tell, but Helen and Barry objected. They assured themselves everything was all right, but found out later that the boy died. A year later, they're trying to get on with their lives, but someone is trying to get back at them by sending nasty notes in the mail and even shooting Barry. Helen, Ray and Julie try to figure out who could be doing this, and while they do, they have to confront that ugly event. There is also a subplot about Julie and Ray rekindling their dorment romance. "I Know What You Did Last Summer" has the usual cliched characters: a goodhearted and studious girl, her rather cardboard love interest, a snooty rich jerk and a pretty, shallow girl (who, to make it even more cliched, has a plain sister who is oh-so-jealous of her.) The ending is a bit predictable, but there is a twist that I didn't see coming. However, the last line is so sappy that it just about ruins what could have been a so-so cautionary tale about burying the past.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I thought this was a really excellent book. Lois Duncan is a great writer and this book was very entertaining. After reading the book I saw the movie, and I thought the book was much better, and the movie didn't have a lot in common with the book. This is a must read for any teen terror fans.
Rating: Summary: Despite the New Cover, Not the Movie Review: Lois Duncan is a skilled writer of children's suspense tales and I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of her best or certainly, because of the successful movie and sequal, one of her most famous. I originally read it in the seventies and was thrilled with it and became a fan of Lois Duncan and have since read it in the wake of seeing the movie and the book still holds up in the category of suspense. The lead character is well developed and very strongly written while the supporting characters add nice window dressing to the whole endeavor. People expecting the horror, gore, and death toll of the movie will be dissappointed. This is teen suspense of the old school variety.
Rating: Summary: I.K.W.Y.D.L.S. is GREAT Review: I have read this book like a million times. The first time I read it, I was dissapointed that no one was killed except for the kid. It was hardly like the movie. Here is my sypnosis of the book:Four drunk teenagers accidently hit a kid. They then leave(hit and run). One year later, someone writes a note to Julie,(one of the main characters) saying,"I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER!!" Then Julie fraks out. She tells the other people who were with her that night. Then a person they all know, seems to be the taunter. Then at a final showdown, he's caught!...
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: ....i rated this book average because it is like ANY other scary book you would read about. This book is about these kids who are being stalked by an unknown killer seeking revenge (a unique story line isn't it?...sarcasm). This is an average book. If this was the only horror book ever to be released in the world, it would have been rated a 10. However, it wasnt. So based on every other horror book iv'e read/ watched, this book is a 3.
Rating: Summary: Better than the movie Review: I know what you did last summer is probably one of my favorite movies. I'm 17 and I love all the horror movies, especially ones like Scream and I know what you did last summer. I'm not a person who likes to read, I even try to get out of book reports. But since I liked the movie so well I bought this book and one evening after school I read the whole thing straight through, only taking breaks to eat and take a shower. It was definitely better than the movie. It was so good that I've actually read it twice (keep in mind I NEVER read). I'd tell anyone to buy it because if you loved the movie you'll love this even more. Even if you haven't seen the movie this will be great. It's much different than the movie. Not quite as gory and scary but much better on suspense. You'll definitely love this book.
