Rating: Summary: I Know What You Did Last Summer Review: I Know What You Did Last Summer was an excellent and exciting book. The author, Lois Duncan, was very descriptive. Every once in awhile, she carried a scene on to long. However, that did not stop me from reading this book. I also enjoyed the characters' profiles. They were interesting because regardless of their different lifestyles and personalities, everyone fit well into the story plot. I would suggest this book to anyone, especially if you enjoy mystery and adventure.
Rating: Summary: I Know What You Did Last Summer Review: I Know What You Did Last Summer, by Lois Duncan, was a very suspenseful novel. It is about four teenagers on their way home from a party when they strike a boy on a bike. For the rest of the publication they are being stalked by an individual who witnessed the accident. This story was mortally unpredictable. I couldn't make up my mind on who i thought the stalker was. I really recommend it to anyone who likes an outstanding thriller!
Rating: Summary: Keeps you guessing Review: When many people hear the words "I know what you did" and "last summer" in the same sentence, they think of the deplorable slasher film released to bounce off of the success of Scream. However, the novel which is based on is completely different. Devoid totally of graphic violence, profanity, and Freddie Prinze Jr., this book is quite enjoyable.Written by popular author for teens Lois Duncan, this follows the story of four friends who accidentilly run over a little kid. They ditch the body and hope that it goes away. Unfortunately, someone saw them and is now sending them threatening letters. That's basically I can say without giving it away and I must say that Ms. Duncan has a knack for plot twists: the ones in this book take you by complete surprise (especially the "big one"). The book is written intelligently, but simple enough that it sounds like teenagers talking and not Harvard scholars, but not like kindergarteners, either. While the dialogue may be outdated and cheesy, it still works well and keeps the book moving about at a steady pace. Speaking of pace, did I mentiont that this one moves at lightening speed and keeps your pulse pounding? Not many books can do that, but you get drawn into the characters, you sympathize with them, you relate to them, and when someone starts trying to kill them, you feel unnerved and want to keep reading to find out if they are and what will happen in the end. This book is so much different from the movie that if the adaptation were actually true to the book, then the film would have been in Oscar contention. If you can make a compelling story about a bunch of whiny teenagers who are too afraid to own up to their mistakes, then you're doing something right. Lois Duncan has nailed that aspect and turned this into quite possibly one of the best teenage novels ever written. It's that good. For those of you who are generally more along the lines of gory crime thrillers (such as the Hannibal Lecter series), then this might not exactly your cup of tea, but I can't see why you wouldn't enjoy it. It's taught, well-written, clever, original, and it is the one true case where it completely blows the movie adaptation out of the water. If you've never seen the movie (hopefully you haven't), do what I did and read this book first. Then stop there. I made the mistake of seeing what would happen if a third-rate filmmaker with nothing better to do than to try and make money off of a budding franchise got a hold of the script and turned it into his own form of art. Fans of thrillers, clever plot twists, easy reads, or teen novels (and the numbers of that last one seems to be lowering every day), then by all means, don't hesitate to pick up this excellent book. Books aren't given a rating or classification, so if Jack Valenti got his dirty hands on this book, he'd probably slap it with a rating of PG for some violence and brief, mild language.
Rating: Summary: Suspenseful, yes; dumb ending Review: Well I enjoyed this book right up till the ending. How anti climatic can you get? Oh Helen is rummaging through her medicine cabinet to see what she can find to use against her attacker! Cut to Julie's house and the final scene and the sap Ray says in the end. Give me a break! Note, this book was originally published in 75 so a lot of things are so retro that well, kind of makes you laugh compared to the pop culture of today. Still, it gripped me but I was hoping more in the end. Too much sugar coating Lucy darling!
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This book was very interesting. It very scary also. You never know what's going to happen from one chapter to the next. If you like to solve mysteries and get scaared while your at it this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: The best book ever... Review: The book "I Know What You Did Last Summer," was a suspenseful, yet a horrifying book. In this book the main characters used illegal drugs one night, and hit a kid on a bike. Because the assumed no one saw, they didn't report the accident. One year later they all got something to remind them of what they did the summer before. They all got together to figure out who was sending them messages, and who knew their awful secret. To find out you're going to have to read the rest of the book. Yes, I liked this book, because it is a teenage book, and leaves you wondering in every sentence.
Rating: Summary: Very suspenseful and exciting! Review: I think that this book is awesome! It has a lot of suspense! And I really like that! For instance, not being able to tell what is going to happen next, and having to wait to see the results! I love the characters and their personalities. I have seen the movie also. The book and the movie are very different, but I still liked them both. I recomend this book to anyone of all ages!

Rating: Summary: I know what you did Last Summer Review: This was a great book it was full of suspense. Like there is one part where Julie asks Ray why one of the three peoeple (Barry, Mr. Cox, and Helen) would be lieing about what happened the night that Barry got shot. But you dont find out who is lieing or why until later on in the story. It is also very wierd (like Ray pointed out in the story) how Megan said that she was home alone because her mother was sick and in a hospital and that her father was staying with her and her brother moved out. So there were no men living in the house, and yet she was pulling newly cleaned men's shirt off of the clothes line when Julie and Ray were over at her house. If there were no men there what was she doing with men's shirts? In this story everyone recieves a sign from the killer; Julie get's a letter in the mail, Ray gets a newspaper clipping, Helen get a picture, and Barry gets shot. This is a great book it was very addicting it was like once you picked it up and started reading you couldn't put it down. I recommend for everyone to go out and get this book and read it, it is a wonderful book.
