Rating: Summary: I mourn the former tree this book used to be Review: I thought that Melody was a brat. Yet the other characters can never stop praising her. "Oh, Melody, you're so strong, so beautiful, so nice, so kind, blah blah blah." And she just eats it all up. It's no wonder that when her "grandmother" tells her she is going to have etiquette lessons, she throws a fit. According to her, and most others, she's Miss Perfect. What does she need lessons in manners for? And by the way, just because her grandmother is named Olivia, doesn't make her a monster. Nice reference to the evil grandma in FITA and POTW, but it failed. Olivia could have been my own grandmother. She was such a character, though not nearly interesting enough. But still, far from evil. Kenneth was just bad in Heart Song, and he is no better now. Nor is his womanizing, sleazy father, Judge Childs. And one has to wonder what the heck Melody is doing flying across the country to find a mother who clearly doesn't want her anymore. Yet I can somewhat understand her motives. It's hard to turn your back on your parents, especially since she has such great childhood memories. But she should feel lucky. She could have experienced worse. Sounds to me like Mommy did the kid a favor when she dumped her with some estranged relatives. Really a bad idea, but, in this case, it turned out for the best. At least she met Cary, May and Aunt Sara. They treated her right. So what if Jacob was a tyrant. He didn't really mistreat her. I mean, she did encounter hardships, everybody does. But why become such a little brat? Her life was not that awful, at least not compared to the characters in other books (Dollangangers and Audrina, to list two). She seemed to have had a happy childhood, and she was better off without her mother. Haille's crime was not tossing her daughter out of her life. Her major crime was having an anonymous woman buried under her name. With all the missing people in the world, it is a sin to make light of such a thing. Hasn't it ever occured to Melody that perhaps there might be people worried about her, people who will never know the truth about what happened to her? She made it seem as if just because the woman was from Hollywood, she didn't have anyone who really loved her or cared if she was alive or dead. What trash! Melody committed as much of a crime as she accuses Grandma Olivia of committing in the end, only the ghost writer will never admit it. Reasons to read this book? Well, Melody does find out who her father is and you'll wonder why you didn't guess his identity sooner, if you haven't already. There is an interesting twist at the end, but, in light of Melody's and her mother's farce involving the anonymous "non blue-blood" body, it comes across as bland. How can we hate Olivia, when Melody is just as bad, and at least Olivia doesn't insult Melody's table manners in front of important guests, which is more than I can say for Melody. Reasons not to read the book---the characters are dull and stereotypical, Melody is almost raped twice by Tony Tatterton clones, Melody's stupidity has reached new heights, and she must sleep, yet again, with her quasi-cousin Cary. And at the end, what do we have? Nothing. This whole series disappoints because the ghost writer keeps throwing in all these ingredients that he never mixes together. I would have liked to have been given more information than I was given and I would have rather had loose ends being tied together than more being pulled, even at the end.
Rating: Summary: I just love it Review: I've become a reader of V.C.Andrews when I was studying and living in the USA. Since then I am a great fan and never stopped to buy and read her series. This was one of my favorites, but all of them were my favorites while I was reading. It's so fantastic that I couldn't stop reading until it's end It has so much suspense and romance that capture all my attention. I just love it. And now I'm waiting for the new Logan series arrives here in Brazil.
Rating: Summary: Confusion Review: Im a little confused. In several of the earlier books there was a small page that said that V.C. Andrews had passed away. While later the pages stopped showing. Okay fine. Then they started showing up again in the more recent books. Is she alive? Well... anyway I am enjoying this series although it doesn't seem like any of the other V.C. Andrews books. The style was different and the ending was not what I was used to.I have also noticed that this last series has covers of bright colors and borders where the older books have dark plain covers. Is this a change for the purposes of asvertising or is it because of a new writer? I also read the description of Music in the Night. Either you have let too much information leak in your description or you meant Melody Logan. Laura is dead. Either way I will be waiting for the arrival of the new book.
Rating: Summary: A job well done:) Review: Just when Melody believes that she's uncovered all the secrets in the Logan family, she discovers that there are still more skeletons left to shake out of the Logan closet! UNFINISHED SYMPHONY had many welcome changes, such as a heroine who (for once:)wasn't pregnant by the third novel in the series. The Logan family series is definitely a welcome change after the basic weakness of the Cutler series and the suprising blandness of the Landry series(although I still loved the aforementioned series; I'm just being honest). UNFINISHED SYMPHONY is a must read for the die hard Andrews readers and the "new initiates" alike.
Rating: Summary: How could her mother do that Review: Melody is so brave. She is always thinking of other people and how to help them I really believe she helped her mother just alittle Melody is such a kind soul if vcAndrews characters met im sure they would get along! Great Book a NEED TO READ ON YOUR LIST!
Rating: Summary: Beautifully done, captured drama at its best Review: Once again V.C Andrews spins a hidden tale of Dark Deceptions and twisted Passions. This book is great although could use a few touch ups it was definately the best of the Logan Family saga
Rating: Summary: Surprising! Review: Pretty surprising, the father, I didn't even think about him!
Rating: Summary: No singing praise here but the book was alright imo... Review: Put on your sunglasses! This book follows Melody in her search for her supposedly dead mother to sunny California, leading her into a world of illusion and glamour, where even death is just part of an act..... Melody reluctantly parts from Creepy Cary and the life she has come to know and love in Cape Cod after seeing a ghost's face staring at her from the cover of a magazine-the face of her supposedly dead mother. Millions of miles from the love her life, she wishes to be back in the safety of Crazy Cusin'Cary's wimpy arms but Melody knows she must go forward and find her mom and if she finds her, bring her home.... Melody tracks her mom's doppelganger down, leading her to an apartment building in the middle of Hollywood and to an apartment door which behind lies the answer to questions and secrets she's been searching for... This is a good book, not great but kept me turning the pages until the end where quite a few secrets are revealed. Including a big whopper of one that Grandmother Cutler spits up before she croaks. If you've gotten this far in the series your probably already hooked but I had to put in my Chucky Cheese's token's worth of opinion.
Rating: Summary: Not the best book in the Logan series Review: This book did not get interesting until about the middle. The first half was just endless, boring descriptions of Melody's trip to L. A. and the search for her mother. Maybe Melody was in denial, but I thought she was way too naive. I kept thinking uh, Mel? Your ma ditched you. Even if she does want you back, she doesn't deserve you. I think it was readable, but V. C. Andrews would not have been impressed.
Rating: Summary: A very exciting climax to Melody's story Review: This book gave me a lot of emotions, it was so exciting to discover all the secrets in Melody and Hallie's life. Then the truth on Laura's death... I counsel this book to all girls who loves mistery, secrets and strong emotions. Melody Logan is a fantastic character!
