Rating: Summary: GREAT SERIAL KILLER NOVEL Review: This was a great book to read about the mind of serial killers and those with multiple personalities. Was hard to put down! A great ending too.....I know he usually writes about vampires, but I can't wait for the sequal to THIS one!
Rating: Summary: Long and drawn out. Review: This was such a slow read. There was way too much information in this book that could have been left out. True, there were times when there was some "nail biting" but it was rare. Comparing this book to Silence of the Lambs is a complete injustice to Thomas Harris. This was a bland thriller about a man with multiple personalities, most of them unpleasant. When he was a little boy, Max had abusive parents. They did awful things to him, as a result of this he became a sociopath. Among his many multiple personalities is Kinch. He's the alter who does the knife work. He's also the one responsible for the all the raping. The FBI has been tracking his profile for over ten years and they think they have finally found their man, but it's almost too late.

Rating: Summary: Creepy Look Into the Mind of a Sociopath... Review: Unnerving look into the mind of a multiple-personality(DID) serial killer! Wow! Very different from what I have read over the years! This guy makes Charles Manson look tame. Full of twists and shocking revelations, I was glued to the pages! I truly admire this author for the work it took to research this disorder and make it so easy for the reader to understand and at the same time, make it chilling.~Meet Max, a nice looking young man in his late twenties who seems innocent enough...until you see into his mind. His twisted thoughts and 'crowd' of people living in his head all trying to find a way out. One of his personalities is a twisted and vicious monster who is making Max hunt for women with strawberry blond hair.. His latest prey is strawberry blond phychiatrist and expert on DID(multiple personality disorders) Dr. Irene Corgan. She is about to find out how twisted and chilling Max really is. She is also about to find out first hand what happened to all the strawberry blonds that have been missing of late...'The Girls He Adored'.... Between the doctor and an FBI agent on their trail, Max is running out of time and patience. He needs Irene. Max is also having a difficult time keeping the peace in his head. The killer wants out and he wants out now! What Dr. Corgan discovers makes her blood run cold and all her training and expert schooling cannot prepare her for what Max really is... Super charged with suspense and eerie revelations that will make your heart beat a little faster, 'The Girls He Adored' is a keeper. I am anxiously awaiting until I can purchase the sequel to this story... This definately should be a movie. Tracy Talley~@
Rating: Summary: Jonathan Nasaw's THE GIRLS THAT HE ADORED... Review: When the serial killer known only by the FBI as Casey was captured in a routine road stop the bureau breathed a heavy sigh of relief. With little to go on for years Casey had freely abused... and killed a dozen women across the country with only one thing in common, their strawberry-blonde hair. When the mental stability of Casey comes into question the court appoints psychiatrist Irene Cogan who specializes in multiple personality disorders. But Irene only gets a chance to have an initial session with Casey before he attempts a daring escape, taking Irene hostage. Now in a secluded house in Oregon Irene must take on her most risky case. Now she finds herself helping one of the most powerful of Casey's identities, Max, gain control of all the personalities within. In this she will learn of a childhood filled with hate, violence, and cruelty that would forever shape the life and mind of an innocent boy. And his obsession with the girls that he adored. Nasaw has pulled of a risky venture with this novel. He has taken the frequently tread ground of the pursued serial killer and laced it with subtleties all his own. Add to it the enjoyment of tagging along with Special Agent E.L. Pender as he gives up everything to finally catch the man he's been chasing for over ten years. Much of the cat and mouse in "THE GIRLS..." is stereotypical yet the journey into the past of Ulysses is enough to grab you by the neck and draw you in. One can only hope that Nasaw can continue this trend as he begins refining his storytelling skills...
Rating: Summary: Distrubing chiller Review: which I do not recommend reading while feeling down. Trust me, you will need all the cheerfulness you can gather - in order not to feel to disturbed, moved (I think I don't mean 'moved' positively), maybe even afraid? I think this book deserves to be read and boy, am I glad I'm not a strawberry blonde! (by the way, I don't want to write about what's going on in the book - what's the point of reading it if you already know what's going to happen?)
Rating: Summary: Too predictable Review: While it was a good read- it was too predictable. I need a mystery and I knew the whole time while reading it how the ending would be.
Rating: Summary: Run of the Mill Thriller Review: With The Girls He Adored, Jonathan Nasaw has created a thoroughly evil serial killer in the style of Hannibal Lecter. Fortunately, Nasaw is a more proficient writer than Thomas Harris. On the other hand, while Nasaw does a great job characterizing Maxwell, the killer, he does a poor job with other characters. He's able to present a complex character in Maxwell, complete with countless multiple personalities, but spends little time on other characters. The other flaw is that the action is completely predictable. While some of the characters' motivations are revealed over time and are somewhat surprising, the overall action doesn't deviate from standard thriller/suspense fare. The Girls He Adored is neither great nor horrible. It's an entertaining, quick read. If that's all you're looking for, you'll be pleased with it. If you're after anything deeper or more creative, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite Top 10 all time books! Review: Wowwwww is the best way to describe this book! Mr. Nasaw sure knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat with this one! I agree with another poster that it SHOULD be made into a movie. What a ride! I very much recommend this book. It was extreemly thrilling, emotional, heartbreaking and a great ending! Even though there are many many *people* in this book, I was able to see and feel for each one and felt I was right there while it was all happening. I have already ordered more of his books. *Fear Itself* was also a great read that I have recommended to many people. PLEASE keep them coming Mr. Nasaw! You have a true gift. I don't usually re-read novels, but this one I'm sure I will! Thank you for a book I will never forget! Will you continue this book???????
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: Yep, WOW is about all I can say. This book hooked me from almost the first page. I couldnt stop reading, every spare second I could find I would pick it up just to read one more sentence. The story is already posted, so no need to re-post it here, but for this review I say READ IT! You wont be able to put it down. I cant wait for the next installment of Max and Irene that Nasaw is currently working on.
