Summary: Absolute page turner..will keep you up at night!
Review: There are not enough good things I can say about this book! It is an absolute masterpiece for those that like crime stories. I look to see a movie being made from this incredibly descriptive book. It will top Silence of the Lambs!!!! Can't wait until Mr. Nasaw writes a sequel to this.

Summary: too violent
Review: There are serial killer books that are interesting because of the forensics involved in the hunt. This one, however, seems too focused on just the prurient titillation of the violent actor. I did not like it.

Summary: You just can't put it down!
Review: This author is clever, intelligent and did his research. His novel demonstrates that there is a gray area between good and evil.

Summary: Just a little off.......3 1/2 stars
Review: This book is about a serial killer that has multiple personalities. While I think Nasaw did a very good job researching the medical side of this book, I think he fell asleep at the wheel when it came to the actions of FBI Agent E.L. Pender.

I would have enjoyed this book so much more if Pender had been a private detective hired by a family member of one of the missing women. It would have made it much easier to believe all the stupid mistakes he makes. He did not ring true for a FBI agent. He especially did not ring true for a FBI agent who supposedly has 20 years experience hunting down serial killers. I could give you examples of why I feel this way, but it would ruin certain parts of the book, in case you do decide to read it.

'The Girls He Adored' moved along at quite a quick pace, but I was left feeling like Nasaw had written a much larger book, and stripped away pieces at random, just to make it shorter. Much of what was stripped away must have been the parts where we learn to care about these characters.

Overall, I am not upset I read this book, but I would think twice before reading another book by Nasaw.

Summary: Creepy, Creepy, and Good
Review: This book will give you the willies--well, it gave me the willies. It is pretty graphic and disturbing at points, but the story is engrossing. Pender is an awesome character. Irene is tough. And Maxwell--wow, beyond scary. A good serial killer yarn for those who have the stomach to take it!

Summary: Well written book.
Review: This happens to be the first book by Nasaw that I've read, and I plan to get the rest of his books. This book is outstanding. Well thoughtout and a amazing read. The characters are just incredible. All of the characters that you meet, you care about. The ones that are brutal killers, you want to read them and lean all you can about them. Nasaw has the woderful ability to keep the reader glued to the pages, pages that are filled with plot twists, and will fill you with terror. You will be taken away by the many characters that live in Max. (this isn't giving anything away, you find this out on the back of the book.

There's a killer on the lose, but the problem is that it's just one killer, but he has many personalities in him. (this is from the back of the book). All the women he goes after have many diffrernt backgrounds, but they have one common element. They have beautiful strawberry blonde hair. Why does the killer like women with Strawberry blonde hair? Well, read and find out. See how the many personalities were created and how they help Max do what he does.

If you haven't read this book, and you like books with great plots, wonderful writing, plot twist, and outstanding characters that you want to learn about, then I highly suggest you read this book.

Summary: More powerful than Silence of the Lambs
Review: This is a gripping page-turner. For me, it's even more powerful than Silence of the Lambs, my standard to which all similar books were ('till now) held. The Girls He Adored best feature is the way Nasaw deftly switches the personalities of the main character-often several times within a chapter. We see the killer's strikingly different persona from both his own perspective and from other characters points-of-view. Nasaw's superb handling of these often rapid switches is flawless. As an added surprise, the main character tosses around some engaging humor. In the middle of a chilling scene, he says something such as: "Sometimes having a dissociated identity was no frigging picnic." This fast-paced, well-plotted story with depth of character should appeal to thriller fans and mystery readers alike.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This is one of the best books I have read lately. Very well written and studied. I would pick another Nasaw book up in a second!

Summary: A must-read for any thriller fan!!
Review: This is one of the five best books I've read this year. Nasaw has hit the mark for mystery and thriller fans with the story of a serialkiller with multiple personality disorder and a fetish for strawberry blondes. The story begins with "casey" ( a alias with refrence to the song "and the band played on")locked up in Soledad undergoing therapy. Enter Dr. Irene Cogan , the psychiatrist who becomes intrigued with Casey and soon taken hostage by him when he escapes prison. They are soon chased by washed-up FBI agent E. L. Pender , who has vowed to catch Casey no matter what. The novel is fast paced and action packed. The different personalities that emerge from within Casey are as vivid and developed as those he interracts with. Without a doubt, Nasaw has penned yet another gem.
