Summary: Koontz's verbosity exceeded only by his predictability!
Review: Alas, it seems that when you have sold over 150,000,000 books, the axe loses its edge. This book reads as a companion to "Dark Rivers..." and it would be hard to tell which came first. However, considering that both were published within a relatively short time of each other, we can only expect more of the same. While I appreciate the need for character development, this book takes it to extremes. Enough already. We know that Martin is just the gosh darndest nicest guy you could ever hope to meet with a family to rival that of any 60's family sitcom creator. As for the bad guy....well, boy oh boy....he is a bad 'un. And this much we have ascertained before the story really unfolds. So please Mr. Koontz, enough already. Reread "Icebound" or "Hideaway"; that's how you used to write

Summary: 00
Review: You might think that two zeroes make a strange title for a review, but they're not zeroes. They are the ass that this book kicked! I'm not kidding. This is perhaps the greatest novel I have ever read, and I don't say that lightly. I would that without a doubt that it is my favorite KOONTZ book ever. It delivers great characters( among whom is Martin Stillwater an author who I'm sure is not unlike koontz himself and a villian witha matching face) and a nonstop plot that makes it impossible to put down. WAY TO GO KOONTZ!!!!!!!

Summary: Dean Koontz does it again
Review: I'm sitting here at my computer, nodding off, about to fall off the chair, and all of that is the result of my not getting enough sleep last night. Why, you ask? Well, it's all because of that Dean Koontz guy. Why did he have to write such an interesting book, for God's sake?! I mean, I just couldn't put the book down. The premise was great, and the story sure lived up to it.
Mystery writer Martin Stillwater and his family are haunted by what appears to be a dead ringer for Martin. And the double seems to have even more surprises for them up his sleeve. How can that be, you ask, oh ye of little faith? Well, it just so happens that there's a great explanation for that, right in page 470. So go ahead, pick up the book, and start reading!!!

Summary: Mr. Maudlin
Review: Oh, I screamed all right...because Dean Koontz has descended to a new level of bad writing. He tries so hard to make us care about the main characters, but they're so sweet he could package them and get into the saccharin business. 'The Fabulous Stillwater Parenting Machine'...'"They are very kissable...So's your tush"! Give me a break, even the Brady Bunch wasn't this bad! The antagonist, by the way, is a genetically engineered guy (I am so tired of evil scientists being the cause of all known sorrow in the world) who isn't even given a chance to reform, just shot. Bang. Then, in a scene borrowed from Dark Rivers of the Heart, the main characters change their names and live happily ever after

Summary: I just couldn't stay interested. . .
Review: When I think of a Koontz novel, I think of a novel that comes right out with an intense plot at the very beginning, and that plot continues to the very end. MR. MURDER was not like this. The story started out good, but then the action just seemed to taper off and quit. It became a struggle to finish the story. I'm sorry Mr. Koontz, but this is one novel I just can't say is outstanding. At most it is just a little above average, and that is only because the beginning of the story was alright

Summary: I did not like this book.
Review: The book was too childish. It was nothing compared to the horror of R.L. Stein and the goosebumbs series

Summary: Charaters you really care about
Review: MR. MURDER is a terrific story. Mr. Koontz has created a whole family that you can care about. So many times you pick up a thriller without a single character worth caring about. This story is fast-paced, funny, scary, and I couldn't put it down. I liked it almost as much as INTENSITY. As far as I'm concerned that's high praise indeed

Summary: A wonderful "supernatural" thriller
Review: Just finished reading Mr Murder, the first (and so far only) book written by Mr Koontz that I've read. I must admit that I was pretty hesitant because his books are marketed like airport thrillers. Also, he's written so many books that I wondered if he churned them out without care for quality. Well, I'm impressed! This guy is good, very good. Not only is it well plotted, its scary and develops a suitably icy ambience. The characterisations are more than one dimensional and he has a handy way with words. While I call it "supernatural" (and I don't know much about this genre) the premise is in fact believeable. I'll definitely be reading more of Dean Koontz

Summary: keeps you reading...
Review: Mr Murder is one of Koontz best. Imagine a peacefully family being hunted of a murderer who looks exactly like the husband in the family. The Stillwaters must flee from an enemy who's very dangerous while two criminals hunts them all... read it!

Summary: Knuckle whitening suspense
Review: The first hundred pages or so of this book have to be the most suspenseful I have ever read. It's the kind of book that you just can't put down, but the suspense gets so high that you have to take a break or go insane. It's so good, though, that within seconds you go right back to get those nerves wound up again. No sane man could keep this level of suspense for an entire novel and unfortunately (for the reader) Dean Koontz doesn't. The rest of the book sort of tapers off from the first hundred pages, with the occasional nerve tightening twinge, however that initial suspense makes this a jewel of a novel. Perhaps it is like eating a sourball, you just get used to all the suspense after a while and your adrenal glands stop working over time
