Summary: Dean Koontz is not a great writer.
Review: Dean Koontz is not a great writer. In point of fact, he's not even very good, and Mr Murder is the best proof of this fact.

Every time Stephen King writes a novel, he must be looking over his shoulder, wondering how Dean Koontz will re-work it. For instance, Mr Murder = The Dark Half; Cold Fire = The Dead Zone; Intensity = Gerald's Game croseed with Misery.

But this is only the start. In just about any Dean Koontz novel, the same themes occur again and again and again. To wit: The main character is rich, but he knows what it's like to be poor (just like Koontz himself, as he is at great pains to tell us). The main character is a gun-nut, and has a deeply intimate knowledge of the weapons he uses. Somewhere in the book, some piece of fashionable technology is brought into the story (in this case, cloning).

It took me a long time to realise that Koontz is an embarrasingly inept writer. In fact, it took reading Mr Murder to realise it. One of the aspects of this book which had me cringing every time it came up was when one of the Government Agents kept ribbing the other about his being a Star Trek fan. Star Trek obsessives may be sad, but the stuff in this book is enough to make you weep.

I'm happy to say that I've grown out of my Dean Koontz phase (the last book I read was Ticktock - was this book really not written by a thirteen year-old?)

And one last thing: For many years, the author photo showed Dean Koontz with a receding hairline. The more recent photos with Koontz wearing a wig are unintentionally hilarious. Come on Dean, slap-heads like you and I should be proud of our prominent foreheads.

Summary: Great book I absolutely loved it!!
Review: This only the second Koontz book I have read and I think that he is my favorite writer. He's book are big and thick like Stephen King's but they don't take as long to really get interesting. This book is full of twist and turns that keep you guessing through the whole book, and the end is really surprising I really enjoyed this book.

Summary: Wow!
Review: This is one of the most satifying books I have ever read with the most awesome villian that I have ever seen in any novel and I've read quite a bit. The guy took a bullet in the head, regenerated himself and came back for more. Now that was just plain cool. Right up there with Midnight, Dark Rivers and Soul Survivor and Intenstiy. Keep it up.

Summary: Best Koontz Story to date
Review: No one tells these stories of genetic dna like Dean Koontz. In this tale you are lead through an exciting chase around the country in search of Marty Stillwaters evil twin.

Summary: Get ready for a thriller!
Review: This is a chilling haunting thriller that will keep you on the edge of you seat for hours. If you a ready for thriller, with a little sci-fi this is the book for you. Don't miss one of Dean Koontz's best.

Summary: I was rapt from the very first page!
Review: This was the first Dean Koontz book I read and became every adult character in the book. The story completely overtook my brain and made me live through every event that happened in this. My minds eye envisioned everything, terrified me, made me keep pinching myself to NOT turn into "The Other". This was the best thriller I've read in a long time and had me relieved at the end that I can now finally go on with my life normally! Thank goodness!! The characters were fantastic, the story fast-paced and this was a difficult book to put down. I plan on reading more of Dean Koontz as I'm now hooked on him! And, Dean? I surely hope you DON'T get cloned!! You are one of a kind!!
