Summary: Great Book, Horrible Movie
Review: This is a fast paced, entertaining read by a horror/suspense author who is quick to put out new novels and who constantly whets the appetites of his devoted fans! I loved this book, the storyline was fantastic (although undeniably a little farfetched) and the action was unrelenting. A rainy day and its subsequent boredom can quickly be forgotten while reading this book. It plays out like a movie. Unfortunately it has already been turned into a terrible one, (alas Mr. Koontz just can't seem to get a good director for his silver screen translations) that if seen before reading the book will most likely turn prospective readers away. Don't heed the abyssmal warning that the film was, this book is fun to read and it won't take you all that long to do it. If you need something to pass the time I suggest this one highly!

Summary: A suspensful, frightening book with a twisted plot
Review: Mr.Murder is a brilliant horror/sciencefiction novel about an author and his family who are being chased down by a scientificly altered clone of the author, the clone believes that the author had taken his place in life where infact it's trying to do exactly what he thinks the author had done. a secret agency has been using the clone to murder people for them, they've earased any memories of his childhood (or training years)and they earased any memories of his trainers so he feels hallow because he doesn't have a life and goes nuts. All the murders are irretraceble so after he got on the loose his own trainors, and the agency could't even find him. mr.murder is an excellent book and one of my favorite dean koontz novels.

Summary: I hate to admit that I read this book...
Review: I read Koonz in highschool and I actually enjoyed it. I liked Whispers, Lightning, even Masks. Then I matured. Recently, I've tried to pick up his books again. I've tried and tried to read his new books since then in an attempt to figure out what I saw in his work. I've come to the conclusion that in high school I was an idiot. Koonz is a terrible writer. He has exactly two main characters, one female and one male who he recycles in every book. All of his villians share the same rapist/child molester/psychotic killer personality. He always rounds out his cast with a passel of silly characters each with a single distinguishing trait. He should simply name them "Blind Girl," "Black Guy," "Military Guy," "Surfer Dude," etc and save time. Mr. Murder is no exception. In this case the characters start off married to each other, so one of his standard sources of plot filler, the "developing relationship" of the two main folks must be replaced with saccrine garbage about their family. Otherwise, this one's pretty much the same as every other book he's ever written. Bad Guy wants to kill lots of people and rape some women, especially the Good Guy's woman. Bad Guy has super powers, Good Guy has a whole bunch of guns. Good Guy is dorky looking, Good Guy's love interst is increadibly gorgeous, and utterly devoted to him. Bad Guy chases Good Guy and friends around for a while. Eventually he catches them, but unfortunately for Bad Guy they've now become prepared to kill him. In the end everyone gets injured and long, boring scenes where the Good Guys fight even after suffering a serious wound ensue. Of course there's no real suspense here...we all know that the good characters will all survive and the bad ones will die. The only suspense is wondering which of the hero's legs will take the bullet, right or left. Eventually Good Guy kills Bad Guy, but Mr. Murder contains a suprise! Just when you think the book's over, in a suprise twist, another Good Guy, "Trekkie" kills a differnent Bad Guy, "un-Trekkie." During this thrill ride of plot twists and suprises, we're also treated to another lesson from the Dean R. Koonz's school of philosophy. Apparently having a family and being nice to them is good, while being a member of an evil government conspiracy is bad. Once again, the scariest thing about this book is the fact that it was a best seller, and the scariest thing about Dean R. Koonz is that he's allowed to make his living as a writer, when in a truly civilized society he'd be legally forbidden from doing anything more in the literary relm than signing his own commitment papers.

Summary: The most exciting expericae i have ever had.
Review: I was able to read the book and listen to the audio. And now I have done that 5 times for the book and 3 for the audio. Every time I read it I found myself not wanting to put it down. I have my daughter reading the book for the first time. She has already done the audio. A young boy at her school mentioned it to her and when she that I was reading it she wanted to read it too. It was a fight to keep the book from her so she now has the tapes. If you want to give a gift to a reader that would be it.

Summary: Edge of your seat thriller...
Review: This was a very enjoyable read, made even better by the narrator's excellent reading. It was suspenseful, creepy, and fast-paced. I'd recommend it.

Summary: Slightly compelling, but pretty average
Review: Once again, Koontz comes up with narrow goodies and one of the more boring baddies. I did NOT like the bit where Alfie kills the girls pets (I hate cruelty to animals), but the end put a smile on my face, proving that some people aren't all bad.

Summary: Cardboard cut-outs for characters, movie-of-the-week plot
Review: Another one-star effort by Dean Koontz. "Mr. Murder" is a somewhat interesting story that succombs to a plot written to be the movie-of-the week. The characters are dull and one-dimensional. It's impossible to care about such contrived characters that are just soooo sweet. This is the third (and it will be the last) Dean Koontz novel that I've read. After each book I'm left with the same empty feeling that I have after watching some mindless TV movie, and that is regretting that I've wasted my time. After a good novel I find myself running through scenes in my mind and thinking about the characters. After reading Dean Koontz I'm left with nothing.

Summary: It is an odd book
Review: This is my first time reading a novel by Dean Koontz. I didn't really understand what point the author was trying to make in the book. It simply seemed to strange to me. It is not really a Sci Fi novel, but yet "the killer" has super human strength and can fully heal from bullet wounds in a matter of several hours.

I just did understand why "the killer" was pulled to Marty Stillwater. The psychological part just did attract me.

It was very confusing to me. Dean Koontz seems like a write that can make exceptional descriptions of his characters, but he doesn't do a great job of explaining the plot very well.
