Summary: bus ride
Review: A Review by Brad

School just got out for five very unlucky students. All five of the student's hade the chance to get a ride home from a friend or a parent; but they all chose to ride the stinky bus. These students all lived on the same street. As the bus approached the last stop; the kids noticed he was not slowing down. "It was odd this time because we had a substitute who could care less." said Dex. But the bus just whizzed on by. All of the students thought that he was asleep or joking around but the bus driver knew what he had in mind.

This is one of the better books that I have read. I really liked how it keeps you on the edge of your seat on not knowing what will happen. This book makes you feel as if you are one of the characters. I really liked how Lois portrayed the students. Some very weak but very smart. Others were very strong but dumb as a nail. They sound just like students at our school. It was hard to follow but this didn't lower the score at all.

I would recommend this book to older readers who love cliffhanging suspense, or if you are in dire love of Lois Duncan. I loved this book so much I would read it again and again.

Summary: Ransom
Review: This book was enjoyable to me, but certainly not as much as her other books. To me, she puts in a lot of stuff she didn't need, just so the story would be longer. When I read it, I found the begginging dull, so I was tempted to not read, I didn't fully get interested till I was curious whether or not they would get free. I was also really excited about the part where they try to get free, and I was like, "Leave, do it now!" But, it's pretty obvious on how this story ends, so the ending was also lacking integrity, so I guess the only part of the story that I won't complain about, is the middle, when you see them go through panic, and you also get to see how their parents take this whole ordeal. So, if you're bored one afteroon, and have nothing to do, read this, but I would suggest something like, "Stranger With My Face", apposed to this.

Summary: Ransom
Review: 5 students from a rich neighboorhood are kidnapped. They are taken to a remote mountain cabin where they are going to be kept until the kidnappers get the ransom money. But only one of the four family the kids come from have enough money. While their parents try to get the money, the kids try to find a way to escape.

The book tells from the veiwpoint of several of the characters. It skips pretty often but the changes are clear and it gives a better understanding of what is happening than if it were told by just one person. I've read this book about 6 times and I'm still not tierd of it. It was the first Lois Duncan book I read, and it is not her best but still very good.

Summary: Ransom
Review: This is the worst Lois Duncan Book I have ever read! The plot was well, and the characters were secure, but the way she kept the story going as if it didn't even have an end, made me want to stop reading it. I seriously FORCED myself to read this.

Lois Duncan is my favorite author, and I have read fantastic books by her such as: Locked In Time, Stranger With My Face, and Down A Dark Hall. If you love reading suspense and thrillers, read these. But if you enjoy being bored and hate having to finish a book because you started it, read this.

Summary: A Suggestive book in the sense of boredum.
Review: I'm usually pretty impressed by Lois Duncan's books. Sadly, this one took most of my energy to read. The beginning made me sour with boredom. Although closer to the end it becomes quite exciting. I feel that the good thing about this book is that all the characters contributed to what the book was about. I think this book is quite realistic by the means of ransom and how everything would happen in one. But once again I must turn my attention to the fact that it is still a tad bit boring. Some of the parts could easily have been excluded but were not. It's one of the shorter of her books that in this case I was quite relieved. I would not recommend this book if you are looking for a gripping tale. In my opinion, I feel this book is more about learning about people and trying to look past the stereotype image.

Summary: The suspenceful story
Review: In the book Ransom, by Lois Duncan, five teenagers are kidnapped from a bus leaving their school. In a small town called Valley Gardens, these five students are riding a normal school bus from class to class. At the last stop, only five students remain on the bus. One boy realizes that it is a substitute driver and they start to take a wrong turn. The five students then realize that they are going the wrong way. The bus driver tells them that they are just going to pick up his friend. When the friend gets on the bus, one of the boys see that this strange man has a gun. The man then tells the kids that they are being held for a ransom of 10,000 dollars each! They kidnappers take the five students to an outhouse in the nothern part of Albuquerque, New Mexico. After a week passes by the five students feel as if they are going to die up there. One night, to the kids suprise,... [the last person they thought would come to their rescue, shows up.] They are all returned to their homes safely, without anyone paying the ransom. I would recommend this book to young adult readers who like suspense filled stories. Lois Duncan jumps from scene to scene without telling the reader so it makes it very suspenseful and scary. The book is a very good young adults book and once you pick it up you cant put it down.

Summary: Coming home from school isn't always the best way to go...
Review: The first Lois Duncan book I ever read. And the book that got me hooked with her suspenseful novels.
When I read this book I thought it was the most awesome book, well mystery novel anyway, that I had ever read.
Then when I read more of her books, it wasn't that awesome anymore.
Alas, all books end with a happy ending in some way, yes? That's how this book sorta came out. It was a great book but there were some so and so's about it.
Yeah, great kidnapping, the school bus. Now that was real good. Makes you think twice about going to and from school with that school bus driver you have every single day.
Then this story wasn't only a thriller, it was also a sort of love story in a way. That interfered with the plot.
The lying about the car was good, cause when you found out what really happened, you want to know more, if some of the facts you read were true or not.
But the plot of the story lacked suspense. It had the bad points and good points but was suspenseless. It was as if it was all thrown in with great details but without the suspenseful details. Mysterious yet non-thrilling.
But if you love Lois Duncan novels, you'll love this one! Read it, you won't be disappointed!
