Rating: Summary: John Saul rocks Review: This was the first book by John Saul that I read. The second one that I just finished reading was called Sleepwalk. This book though was the one that got me hooked on John Saul. In it he tells a tale of a house that has something evil within it. But does it in a creative new way. Excellent read I highly recommend it to anyone who likes horror or suspense.
Rating: Summary: Shocked! Review: With The Right Hand of Evil, Mr. Saul has definitely crossed the line. I was totally shocked and disgusted by the gratuitous violence. The animal mutilations and murders sickened me. It will be a long time before I pick up another John Saul book.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Time-Totally Lame! Review: First off I want to say, this was my first ever Saul book. I know this guy is VERY popular but after reading this book, I'm completely puzzled as to why. This book was BAD. A total rehash of 100 different horror movies I've seen. Dreams about sex & the devil (Rosemary's Baby anyone?), voodoo, possessed family members (Damien, I presume?), a creepy old house with a scary reputation (wow that's new!). How this book ever got published is beyond me. My first and last John Saul book.
Rating: Summary: THOROUGHLY ENJOYED Review: It has been some years since I've read the author, but I sat down to this one and it was like being in front of a television with a big bowl of butter popcorn and, a tall icy cola on a rainy saturday afternoon ---I just leaned back and enjoyed the story as it unfolded.
Rating: Summary: A Good Creepy Read! Review: I enjoyed this book. I was not a Saul fan until I read the Blackstone Chronicles, but since then I have been hooked. This work was excellent and creepy in spots. It had me hooked to the very end. I really enjoyed it more than King's last work, and that says a lot for me. So can ya smell what the Dax is cookin?
Rating: Summary: The Right Hand of Evil - interesting but not thrilling. Review: This is the first book I have read by John Saul. It was given great reviews by my book club and by the audio-reviewer, Booktalk. I decided to purchase it and read it over the long weekend. I thought it was a pretty good book, it held my interest to the end and didn't disappoint me. But there were a few aspects of it that I didn't like, such as the exuberent amount of dream sequences. I felt it was too much to always be thrusted into others dreams, and would have rather seen the characters in a non-comatose state. Also, I felt that most scenes were over described and that some of the setting should be left to the reader's imagination. But overall it was a scary read which left me with doubts about my own basement!
Rating: Summary: A Disappointment!!! Review: I was so disappointed by this book. I am a Saul fan and this book was just boring. The characters had no depth and the ending was to simplistic. It had a build up then ended in like 60 seconds.
Rating: Summary: Worst Saul Book Ever Review: Very boring and simplistic. Struggled to stay interested until the end...what a let down. Not enough info about the evil (or why) and too many animal sacrifices. The scenes of evil were just plain weird, not scary.
Rating: Summary: Bor-ring! Review: I am a fan of John Saul, but this book was weak. The characters were hard to care about and the story line fell flat.
Rating: Summary: good, but not the best Review: This was definatly one of Saul's better books, however it doesn't have the suspence and horror like his earlier books did. I had the ending figured out after reading the first 150-200 pages. Definatly his best since the Blackstone Chronicles though.
