Summary: Puts you in the Characters' Shoes!
Review: A Review by Jillian:
This is a powerful book that you won't want to stop reading until the very last page. Kit Gordy is starting a new private school, while her mother and stepfather are on their honeymoon. From the moment she steps inside this mansion school, Blackwood, she knows there is something different about it. Kit must face many strange months in this creepy school. She meets three other girls at this school, and they are very different in their own ways. Although, they find that they have all had similar weird experiences, which links them all together.

This is a very good book and I recommend it. Lois Duncan is great in all of her books at making you feel like you are in the character's shoes. If you are into wonderfully thrilling books, than this is for you. Join Kit and the other girls as they try to figure out the mystery of Blackwood, and why they are changing. "

Summary: What happened?
Review: I disliked "Down A Dark Hall" because Lois Duncan's books from the 1970s were much better. I don't know if Duncan was trying to modernize her writing style, but it sure as hell didn't work. "Down A Dark Hall" was too easy to read and like too many other books I've read.

Summary: Good book
Review: this was a good book. i wouldn't say it was the best but it kept you guessing all the time. ther was a lot of unanswered questions like "what happened to Lynda?" and "why all the sudden did "Sandy" start writing poems in french?"(ugh i hate french)I recommend this book to people who like supernatural kinda stuff.

Summary: Great Book
Review: This book is about a 14 year old girl named Kit who is forced to go to the Blackwood School for Girls while her mother is in Europe on her honeymoon with her new husband. From the moment Kit arrives at Blackwood she knows there's something strange about it. First of all there are only three students other than Kit, and there are only three teachers. Kit soon finds out that she and the other students were chosen to attend Blackwood due to their paranormal ability. Soon all of their lives are at stake and Kit has to find a way for all of them to escape.
This was an excellent book and I recommend it to any suspense fans.

Summary: Chilling
Review: "Down A Dark Hall" has something of a cliched start, like a typical horror story, but its storyline quickly snowballs into a tale of terror that is extremely well written, gripping and very compelling.

The story is about a fourteen year old girl named Kit whose mother and new stepfather are going to honeymoon in Europe while she goes to a boarding school in the States. Sound simple enough? She immediately gets a foreboding feeling the moment she sees the place, even though it seems to be perfect: very exclusive and high end, complete with a solitary room fit for a queen and a handsome young French teacher. However, as the story progresses, something's very wrong. There are only four girls at the school, the teachers are downright eerie and the students start to have frightening dreams. The danger and tension mounts into true horror as we realize what the real point of the exclusive school is.

"Down A Dark Hall" is certainly worth a read, it's superb for its genre, and gave me chills even on an 80 degree summer afternoon.

Summary: Fast Paced, Page-Turner of no other!
Review: Of all of Lois Duncan's books' this is in my top 3 (along with Daughters of Eve and Gallows Hill)! This book of a girl chosen among a privelged few to attend a private boarding school while her parents are away. But when the doors are only locked from the outside...and there's only a couple other students...questions begin to arouse....

And when strange dreams start to come...who really chose Kit? Her, the teachers? or another entity...lurking around the corner?

Summary: Yuck
Review: When I bought this book I expected it to be really great like Stranger With My Face or even half decent like Locked in Time, but this book was so unlike Lois Duncans other books. The ending (which to me is what leaves the lasting impression) was VERY abrupt and when you put the book down you have so many questions like, "Did Lynda really escape the burning building?" or "Will Kit ever close to portal to the haunting ghosts?" I couldn't stand it the way it never really ended and I couldn't beleive at first that it actually had. Overall, the book was pretty spooky, no romance at all, and was a page turner, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I do suggest that you read this, though, if you are a Lois fan and have read the rest of her books, but otherwise I wouldn't take my time to.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: This book looked very interesting so I chose to read it for an 8th grade assignment. The book was very thrilling until about the middle of the book, when the conclusion suddenly became evident. The rest of the book was very boring for the most part, because you already knew what was going to happen. I can say that this was one of the worst books I have ever read.
