Review: While this novel is adequately written, it is not enhanced by extremely gifted writing or an intriguing plot line. The adventure is somewhat predictable, the romance even more predictable, and the spiritual insights derivative of New Age sensibilities put forth as teaching devices through the mouths of several of the characters. Although the descriptions of hell and heaven are at times interesting, if I had it to do over, I would skip the story and head straight for the appendix where there is a summary of the spiritual exercises mentioned in the novel. They alone are probably the most valuable part of this book.
