Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Wish I could give it zero stars
Review: I can't believe the high ratings this book is getting! The plot is thin and predictable. Steve Martini has done no research at all (passports are not required to leave from Puerto Rico, as it is part of the US). The characters are one-dimensional and stupid. I mean, c'mon, a lawyer that does not want to know what her lawyer is doing? Only in potboiler hell...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great storyline.
Review: I usually don't get into these type of books, but I gotta say he writes a good woman. The characters kept my interest, and made me think, and laugh and cry. Abby and Jack make a good pair to keep you and each other on their toes. Thanks for the entertainment. Well worth the time it took to read, a whole week.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A slow starting, fast paced thriller.
Review: This books starts out slow, as a matter of fact real slow, as compared to his other books that feature the lawyer, Paul Mandriani. Then it picks up, and up and up, coming to a fast paced, thrilling ending! I just couldn't put the book down while I read the last 100 pages! I enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it to others! Steve Martini is definitely a master of suspense and character development and this book is no exception!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Commercial effort, less than worthy of Martini's talent
Review: I believe I have read all of Martini's books except his latest,Critical Mass, and have found less in The List to recommend it than any. It appears he has strayed from his area of expertise, the law,and written something in a hurry just for the commercial value. It rides in on the coattails of The Judge which was excellent.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Formulaic, TV movie storyline at best
Review: It's too bad that The List isn't a better book because Steve Martini has the gifts for conversation, suspense and pacing. But you can tell he has Grisham-envy as The List reads like a script for a TV Movie of the week and unfortunately has all the cliches to boot.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: fantastic story
Review: i just finished reading this book and i had never heard of this author before.i loved it! i think he writes the women characters well, so well i thought maybe a woman actually wrote it! i wil promptly go now and buy the rest of his books. having the location set where i live was a big plus and also learned a lot about the business of publishing and the caribean. buy this book!

Summary: A surreal look into an author's publishing efforts
Review: A wonderful journey into the surreal world of publishing. I thoroughly enjoyed the many twists and turns the supporting characters lead the reader as the story unfolded. Martini is a gifted writer.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Bypass the middle
Review: I am a huge Steve Martini fan, so when I bought it, I was hoping for a book similar to Undue Influence. I was enthralled by the first 250 pages, but when Jack and Abby went to St. Croix, I was bored. Martini needed to stay with the primary storyline. Then, when Abby was confronted with the fact of who killed her friends, I was excited to find out what would happen. The last paragraph made the whole book for me.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good reading, Great suspense
Review: This being my first Steve Martini reading, I found the characters to be GREAT, while the storyline kept me hanging on till the very end. Highly recommended for those who want to get away from "Grisham" novels. Lets see a movie version!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good vacation reading!
Review: I really enjoyed this book. The only other book I have read by Steven Martini was The Judge, and I definitely enjoyed this one more. It was an insight into the world of publishing. I really like the main characters - I think they were very believable. I would recommend this one to anyone that just likes to be entertained!
