Rating: Summary: Worst Buffy book ever Review: This book has an absolutely awful (and totally wrong!) characterization of season 6 Spike. Anyone who has watched the series knows that Spike's chip no longer works on Buffy, but this book has him wanting to get rid of the chip so that he can kill her. Did the author ever watch the show? This book is poorly written and comes across as bad fanfiction. In fact, save your money and go read some fanfiction, you will be a lot happier.
Rating: Summary: This book has it all! Review: This book has it all: action-mystery-flash backs and more! It's about Jack the Ripper wanting to get back to this dimension, and maybe it will work! Spike has a big role in this book. When you begin reading, you don't wanna stop till the last page!
Rating: Summary: Absolute dreck! Review: This book is *nothing* like the series. It's set in Season 6, after "Dead Things", and Spike says in the book that he can't bite Buffy??? He knew by then that they chip didn't work on her! Spike never wanted to kill Dawn. Spike is not the evil creature that he's been painted in this awful dreck! He spent the entire summer taking care of Dawn with no hope of impressing Buffy, because he wanted to keep his promise to "a lady". I suggest that Ms. Holder actually *watch* the show that she's writing about before attempting another one of these books. I'm a fan of BtVS, but first and foremost I'm a SPIKE fan, and I won't buy any more of these things unless they paint Spike as he really is: either on the way to redeemed (from Season 6) or redeemed vampire with a soul that he is now! High School is finished. Angel and Buffy are finished. Spike and Buffy 4 eva!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: One of Buffy's finest Review: This book is great, and it reveals a lot abouts Spike's past, which is quite interesting. It was set in the 6th Season, Buffy and Spike are still together, same for Anya and Xander, while Willow and Tara are still on their break, its great for all the shippers for these 3 couples, it mends in in with the situation during the part of season 6 it was based on perfectly. It also gives a new twist on the Jack the Ripper tales, Nancy Holder made her own history in the events of what happened in Whitechaple. Blood and Fog is written perfecty, it has everything the characters would say, and it shows all the troubles of the relationships that are going on and exactly how they would be.
Rating: Summary: I like spike! Review: This book is not the awful drek that some have painted it. Spike's behaveior is very consistent with season 6, as is Buffy's behavior. Their relationship is a tangled mess at this time and this book shows it. Spike loves Buffy, Buffy is attracted to Spike but hates herself for it. Spike does just as he did in the show, he helps her despite her attitude towards him and she lets him help her. The one big thing that would show this is at the end of the book and to write about it would spoil the ending for those who haven't read it. I enjoyed reading this book a lot.
Rating: Summary: Hmmm not bad... Review: This book was okay. I brought it because I am a fan of Spike, and seeing Spike and Buffy on the cover made me finally believe that we would get some decent Spike characterisation. My feelings having read the book are mixed. There was a lot of positive Spike/Dawn interaction which is always welcome. Also the Buffy/Spike sex was very erotic and worth a read. I felt this book fell short in Spike saying if he ever got the chip out he would hurt and kill Buffy. That confused me as it is not true at all. Maybe the auther missed some season 6 episodes as it was well established that Spike can hurt Buffy because his chip no longer recognises her as human since she was ressureceted. It was a major plot point in Smashed with the two beating each other up before their first time. Also Spike was able to harm Buffy in Seeing Red, I was surprised the auther missed that. I also was surprised at the suggestion that Spike could ever hurt Dawn. In Intervention he is willing to die to protect her secret (partly because of Buffy and partly for Dawn). He babysat Dawn for an entire summer, telling her to go to school etc. He was a protective big brother, I felt it was sloppy writing having the slightest hint that Spike would betray those he loved. In season 6 he was not above hurting strangers, or having the odd sneaky deal. But the implication that he would kill Buffy if give the chance is frankly ridiculous. He got a soul for Buffy! Overall those niggling moments I mentioned do stand out. But perhaps the bad points are being exagerated by frustrated Spike fans? I for one did find the book enjoyable overall. Spike fans get such little choice in the buffy range with far to much concentration on Buffy/Angel for the teens (I am looking at you Christopher Golden). I prefered These Our Actors but this book was fine I personally felt. Only next time the auther should make sure she watches all episodes so she has the facts straight in her mind. Spike talking of wanting the chip out so he could hurt Buffy really did stand out.
Rating: Summary: Great book!! Review: This if by far Nancy's best book. I liked the flashbacks and it's always fun to see the Angel/Darla and Spike/Dru. Plus, as a fan of Buffy/Spike I liked their scenes. It's obvious there is a lot of passion between them.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for Spike fans and Buffy and Spike shippers Review: This is a great book for Spike fans and Buffy and Spike shippers there is a lot of great B/S including good B/S sex scenes, there is also some great Spike and Dawn interaction, I would highly recommend this book, it is a great read.
Rating: Summary: Has the Author Ever Watched Buffy? Review: This novel takes place during the sixth season, after Doc cut Dawn on the tower thereby forcing Buffy to sacrifice herself in the fifth season finale. The idea that Spike would consider doing business with him is ridiculous. It's canon for the show that Spike loved both Buffy and Dawn, and would do anything for them. There's simply no way that he would work with Doc in any fashion, after he caused them, and him, so much pain.If you're a Spike fan, avoid this book. It does not accurately, or logically, portray him.
Rating: Summary: "Blood and Fog" is bloody awful Review: This novel was horrible for reasons I can only begin to describe. The characters didn't sound anything close to the way they do on the show, nor did they act like it, and they sure weren't funny. Significant chunks of the book were wasted on bland flashbacks concerning Spike, Drusilla, and a cowardly nineteenth-century slayer named Elizabeth, and more of the book is wasted on Anya and Xander, who ultimately play very minor roles in the plot and yet for some reason garnish pages and pages of material. The endless fog that the main villain utilizes gets boring after about two minutes, and you can top off all that awfulness with the fact that Holder apparently forgot to explain certain details of her B-stories, like how on earth Anya got from the car accident to a cliff on the edge of town while she was unconscious. Oh, and Holder's brief quip about ancient Romans having nothing better to do but persecute Christians was beyond pathetic. Any student of classics could tell you that it was the Jews who instigated most of the early Christian persecutions, not the Romans, since the Romans were an incredibly tolerant, live-and-let-live sort of people. That information may not be very politically correct, but it's true. There probably are good Buffy books out there, but this isn't one of them. I've read three books in the Buffy series by Holder now (Immortal, The Book of Fours, and this one), and this was by far the worse. Joss really needs to quit letting Holder write for the series. Please, don't waste your money (...).
